Decent little piece at Fangraphs on why it's silly to compare Sanchez to Montero, primarily because Montero was never going to make it as a major league catcher while Sanchez looks good behind the plate. Gary Sanchez is no Jesus Montero - ( New Window )
I said 25+ HR power for Sanchez would be great, just because that's a shitload for a Catcher. But he's not just hitting homers, he's just ripping these pitches. His ceiling is pretty damn enormous considering he looks solid behind the plate as well.
His command on his fastball is not very good, his slider is always out of the zone, and guys just sit on that fastball and hammer him. He has no out pitch, as far as I can see...thus his difficulties with two outs and men on.
Greg Bird comes back as good as he was pre-injury. They were saying on the radio broadcast that he's going to play in the Arizona Fall League, so recovery must be on shedule... This team is going to be a shit-ton-o'fun to watch next year.
yea I think by a certain point a guy is what he is
but it will be a fun ride. Our minor league management is getting stronger which will allow our kids to move quicker. We will need some strategic free agents, but that can't be the priority. Possibly a stud pitcher and a stud in the middle of the order. We must be patient and enjoy the ride.
They are pretty close right now. They will be even better next season. Yanks should be a dangerous team in 2017 with a smart move or two this offseason.
1 Mateo 2b
2 DiDi 3b
3 Fraiser lf
4 Sanchez c
5 Judge rf
6 Bird 1b
7 Torres ss
8 CF pick one we have a ton of them.
9 DH We have lots of candidates for this as well

ready for the Bigs? Doesn't he have big league stuff? Wasn't he part of the rotation in Spring Training until he got hurt? Got to be Better than watching Pineda?

This lineup could really happen in 2019 - just two more seasons. Could you imagine if these guys all played up to their potential and then threw Harper in the mix?
Stating the obvious when I say that this kid needs to play every day, no reason at all to play the piece of shit Headley. Torreyes has shown more enthusiasm after a few good games then Headley has shown since he got here. It is hard to remember a player as nothing as Headley.
:)
Torreyes better go get 3 hits or he's back on the bench lol
Indeed. 6 of his 9 have been solo shots
Dave if I didn't know any better, I'd think you were talking about the Mets.
Judge may indeed be a very very plus defender especially once he learns RF in Yankee stadium.
Gary Sanchez is no Jesus Montero - ( New Window )
Haha. What?
2-0 Yankees.
So? They didn't hit him bc he threw out Cano. Come on.
Cano hits into DP! Out of the jam ...
Relax buddy

yeah, he is going to have to work on that ...
Not great by .253 for the past month. slugging sucks .434.
Exactly. I had pretty much stopped watching them until all this happened, now I'm trying to catch every game.

hungry, and talented prospects with everything to prove and nothing to lose to re-energize a boring lethargic team.

That actually sounds like a positive development.
Today showed that Judge has a hole in his plate coverage tha he has to fix.
