Eric just posted about being sensitive regarding abusive posts targeting women and now we have a thread that has devolved into mocking a woman based on hacked pictures of her nude.
My problem is with those taking an absolutist approach of "don't open the thread if it offends you" as if it's obvious.
In a way, your comment about 9/11 speaks to my point. 9/11 affected many of us on here personally. But because that affected people on here, suddenly the "if it offends you, don't open the thread" philosophy is inadequate.
It goes back to my earlier example of a thread saying "click here to make fun of gay people."
Again, I'm not saying that misogynistic comments about Hope Solo equate to making fun of gay people or 9/11. And again, I didn't even see the awful stuff about Hope Solo that has sparked this thread so I'm not weighing on on whether I thought it was offensive.
Where is the line? I don't know.
I'm merely pointing out that the idea of "if it offends you, don't open the thread" is insufficient because there are certain things that are offensive to the community at-large and the existence of those threads bring down the quality of conversation and reputation of the site as a whole.
250g self-raising flour
pinch of salt
125g shredded suet
180g currant
80g caster sugar
finely grated zest 1 lemon
finely grated zest 1 small orange
150ml whole milk, plus 2-3 tbsp
custard, to serve
Put the flour and salt in a bowl. Add the suet, currants, sugar, lemon and orange zest.
Pour in 150ml milk and mix to a firm but moist dough, adding the extra milk if necessary.
Shape into a fat roll about 20cm long. Place on a large rectangle of baking parchment. Wrap loosely to allow for the pudding to rise and tie the ends with string like a Christmas cracker.
Place a steamer over a large pan of boiling water, add the pudding to the steamer, cover and steam for 1 1/2 hours. Top up the pan with water from time to time.
Remove from the steamer and allow to cool slightly before unwrapping. Serve sliced with custard.

disagree here. Now that they're out we can judge her for taking them. And...wtf kind of person does that? Even for private usage that's just not normal person stuff. But, she should have had privacy

Why would people take pics of their privates? I don't know - does it matter? If they're that disgusting to look at maybe she was getting ready to get a medical opinion? Or wanted a friend to tell her she's okay?
Either way, I feel bad for her. I know that my body isn't exactly glorious to look at. If people were to analyze and mock every part of me it would be a bit humiliating I suppose.
None of that was my main point though. I think the other thread crossed the line for this kind of forum. Snicker all you want about whatever you find is funny, but maybe keep it off BBI?
I think BBI's best will recognize that even if it was funny for a while, it probably deserved deletion from BBI.
I get it, I'm not saying just because she took the pictures that she deserved to have them plastered all over the internet. It's just that I have a hard time feeling terribly sorry for her. Like, use some common sense. Why take that many graphic photos of yourself if you don't intend for other people to see them anyway? To save a trip to the gynecologist?
