Maybe it's me, but it's been rare for Boomer to rip a NY beat guy like he did this morning for Leonard's column in today's NYDN, which is combative at the least and misleading at the worst.
I know the DN broke the story, so they are trying to capitalize, but the column is not strong writing at all. He not only insinuates the meaning behind of some of Mara's responses, he goes from "No one is trying to convict an innocent man here before hes proven guilty" to "The NFL suspended Brown for one game, a pathetic slap on the wrist but nonetheless an acknowledgment of his wrongdoing," which is just contradictory.
You can read the column and make your own judgements. Some entry into the market for Leonard.

Pat Leonard is in a very quick time proving to be a yellow journalist -- always firing off on a sensational theme without a factual base for it
Proud to announce after five memorable seasons covering the Rangers & NHL that I am now the Daily News' NFL #Giants beat writer & columnist
New beat writer trying to score points.
Being fair, even handed and courteous is forsaken in a rush to grab a headline and attention. That sucks.
Too often, the reporting of news comes across as an open invitation to an OpEd column instead of conveying what happened / is happening.
The behavior reminds me of Don Henley's song "Dirty Laundry"
Just give me something-something I can use
People love it when you lose,
They love dirty laundry
Well, I coulda been an actor, but I wound up here
I just have to look good, I don't have to be clear
Come and whisper in my ear
Give us dirty laundry
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em all around
We got the bubble-headed-bleach-blond who
Comes on at five
She can tell you 'bout the plane crash with a gleam
In her eye
It's interesting when people die
Give us dirty laundry
Can we film the operation?
Is the head dead yet?
You know, the boys in the newsroom got a
Running bet
Get the widow on the set!
We need dirty laundry
You don't really need to find out what's going on
You don't really want to know just how far it's gone
Just leave well enough alone
Eat your dirty laundry
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're stiff
Kick 'em all around
Dirty little secrets
Dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers in everybody's pie
We love to cut you down to size
We love dirty laundry
We can do "The Innuendo"
We can dance and sing
When it's said and done we haven't told you a thing
We all know that crap is king
Give us dirty laundry!
Has been pretty spot on since it was written.
Seems he's already shown himself to be just that.
Has been pretty spot on since it was written.
Spot on? He was prescient.

But heres the thing about Mara that gets lost in the understandable heat of this conversation when he speaks to the scourge of domestic violence that exists not only on our NFL teams but in our society at large, when he insists it is an issue he and the Giants take very seriously and one that is very personal to a lot of us he does so with nearly two decades of personal action behind his claims.
For the past 19 years, the Giants have partnered with Westchester County-based My Sisters Place, which works to end violence in intimate relationships and combat the effects of domestic violence and human trafficking on women, men and children.
John Mara and the Mara family have been very committed from the beginning, even before I came [15 years ago], to the issue of domestic violence, we call it now intimate partner violence, My Sisters Place CEO Karen Cheeks-Lomax said in a phone conversation with The Record.
We first began working with the Giants, doing training with them, with our staff going into the Giants administrative offices and working with them trying to help create an opportunity to talk about issues of partner abuse, what healthy relationships look like, being a part of talking to them about what those issues are.
I don't follow Pat or read his stuff.
So you go Boomer!!!!!
" Do we really need video as heinous as the one of Rice slamming his fiance to an elevator floor as the standard of evidence in NFL discipline?" In today's NFL Tara,
indeed you do with Goodell. We all know Rice was only getting two games until the video surfaced.
I have stated how I feel, and Mara seems to have selective
memory when the need arises. Keep in mind they signed
Boley, and kept him here four years too. This was also
after they had information about his situation before
signing him. Mara can talk about his sisters and daughters,
and this counseling center. If John wanted to make a real
statement, he would have cut one Josh Brown!
