Anyone notice both teams were on the road for a week and now are both home this weekend. Earlier in the season they were both at home for a series also. I don't remember both being on the road at the same time for a week. Seems strange.
Historically, MLB has absolutely attempted to have at least one NY team home at all times, simply because from a business standpoint it makes sense. Especially during the summer months, when tourists are looking for activities. As for last weekend, I've been following the game for 50+ years and while it's likely happened before, I cannot remember another instance when both teams were on the west coast at the same time.
Doesn't MLB try to make sure the Mets get in their home games
right before the US Open? I always believe Yankees and Mets have more home games on the same day at this time of year because of the Open is coming up.
but we're only talking about 3 common dates here (this weekend) ... and earlier this year i remember both teams were home a few times at the same time. I was actually up in NYC one week when both had wednesday afternoon interleague games at home... IIRC Mets were hosting Royals while Yankees were hosting Rockies.

Exactly. That's what I'm trying to point out. It's not that MLB cares. I just do not remember it happening before.
Most fans root for one team or the other but their are some who root for both. So it makes sense for them to be at home at different times and mlb usually respects that.
and i certainly think its rare like this past weekend when both were on the west coast (@ Giants and @ Angels) at the same time.
