You could just sync up your Google contacts for easy backup and restore.
An app like Titanium Backup pro (name might be off there) lets you make local or cloud based backups of lots of stuff on your phone too.
Haven't used android in a while, but that should get you in the right direction.
Glowrider you need root to use Titanium Backup.
BlueLou - you best option/most efficient option is to sync ALL of your contacts with your Google Account, follow these steps
Quote:
Step 1
Press the menu button on the Android device and tap “Settings.”
Step 2
Tap “Accounts and sync.”
Step 3
Tap the “Add account” button.
Step 4
Tap “Google.”
Step 5
Tap the “Next” button.
Step 6
Tap “Sign in” and enter your Gmail login information. If you don’t already have a Gmail account, tap the “Create” button instead and fill in the form provided.
Step 7
Tap the “Sign in” button. The device will download the Gmail account’s information.
Step 8
Tap the “Sync Contacts” option.
Step 9
Tap the “Finish” button.
That will then sync all of your contacts to your gmail account - then you just need to factory reset the phone, which is in the settings.
1. Install "Super Backup" from the cloud. Use the app to backup contacts. Make sure the app is saving the file on an external sd card.
2. Follow these directions to factory reset. Be sure to leave "Back Up My Data" and "Automatic Restore" unchecked, or Google will automatically restore these when you start fresh. https://www.androidpit.com/how-to-factory-reset-android
3. When you reboot, your phone will act like it is brand new. Put your info in, and if you get the option to restore apps or treat as a new device, choose the latter option.
4. Reinstall "Super Backup" and restore contacts. Be sure the app is looking in the external sd card.
Also, you need a SIM card reader to factory reset a SIM card Â
with Android you can backup whatever you'd like onto a backup file. If you just wanted the contacts you'd be able to do that, and then you would do a factory reset, and then just load the contacts file.
Who has an android phone and no google account???? Â
When you originally start the phone you had or created a google account just like you would do with an apple phone. Your contacts are sync'd with google so when you switch phones or do a factory reset you sign in and all your contacts and Google Play (apps and music) are automatically there for you.

Reset SIM card - ( New Window )
Are the data on the external card also wiped? Do they need to be?
Also, why does the SIM need to be wiped?
Thanks
