Most fantasy football players are former dungeons and dragons players?
I'm in two fantasy football leagues, one is my hockey team and the other is a group of friends who all player sports their entire lives and many still do.
I don't think even one of the 22 people across both leagues every played dungeons and dragons and it's such a silly view.
the bulk of fantasy football players are football fans first and foremost, gamblers secondary - especially with the daily contests, and a fringe group of maybe non-fans that get roped into doing a league at work.
nothing I would love to see more than a dominant running game and defense as relevant again for the Jints
But
Life goes on, you either find something else to do on Sundays or adapt. Fantasy turns out to be a nice hobby for those that have time to invest.
FF doesn't impact me except I miss the times when the pregame shows were about football. Even NFL on Sirius is focused on FF during pregame. Updates are about fantasy scores first and the actual game second.
Too much time and annoying screen graphics at some point
in time will completely cover the television screen .
Not knocking the people who play it but its watering
down the damn game ...

Is it a noteworthy accomplishment to know about more individual players than average fans?
I would have laughed out loud to see that on TV. Is that going to be regular stat now?
No, nothing to do with fantasy football.
PFF is supposed to be a pseudo analytics site. they used to have really good and interesting snap count data. I used to subscribe to their site. After a game, within 24 hours I'd see exactly who played, how many snaps, what type of play (run, pass) and what their role was (coverage, rush passer, run defender, etc.), how many passes thrown at them in coverage, etc.
it was very interesting.
One small additional piece they had was a rating, how they at PFF judged every player on the field, on every single play.
0 is neutral - had no bearing on the play
-1 was something bad
+1 was something good
etc.
and those play grades accumulated into a player rating and people began comparing them to other players and on their site you could see all the players ranked in order of their accumulated PFF rating.
It became a controversial part of their site, because of the subjectivity in assessing responsibility and impact to the play.
Anyway, those player rankings at their position are what is displayed in the OP graphic.
I was surprised since they are so controversial and I didn't know Collinsworth was an investor/owner at PFF.
The more exposure it gets, hopefully the more people will

Hmmm....I had taken the comment to mean that the jocks who made fun of the nerds had now become the nerds themselves. Drawing parallels between representing a human being (or elf or dwarf or whatever) into a quantifiable mass of numbers as compares players not necessarily by their actual abilities, but by the numbers we use to quantify their performance.
You guys are probably correct in the intended interpretation, but there's something poetic about this interpretation. Stupid nerd jocks!
PS - D&D, Fantasy Football, being a jock...all fantastic.
The worst I've seen was actually in hockey. MSG pre-game show (I forget which of the 3 local teams).
In a segment that would typically be a "players to watch" type of thing, it was instead a Draft Kings ad, showing which players in MSG's opinion had the best value. Apparently each player is worth a price tag in that type of Fantasy League. So it showed the 3 players' price tags and encouraged fans participating to buy them.

But their analysis is based on a prediction of the stats they will run up rather than the actual talent of the player. So the use of these numbers when broadcasting a game is actually deceptive unless it's put in context, which they did not do.

NFL broadcasts have been showing yards and TDs well before fantasy football got big.

42 grams of protein, 26 essential vitamins and minerals.
Vanilla with strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, I got 3 fruits in before most people are awake. Carbs to burn until egg whites 3 hours later.

It's actually pretty interesting of a story how Collinsworth found them and then partnered up and purchased a stake in the company.
I think MMQB's Jenny Vrentas (former Giants beat writer) did the lengthy story before the Super Bowl two years ago.
