The Fisher thread reminded me that I thought Waufle came across as one of those hardass pricks that take themselves way too seriously and make you want to leave the room as soon as they start talking.
Lots of 'who gives a shit' about HK around here, but I remember agreeing with Joey that one of the things I enjoy most about the show is getting some insight into how the coaches handle themselves.
Philbin being tested and coming across as a solid guy, and Mike Tice making many of us squirm as he tried to play buddy-buddy with Arthur Blank being two examples.
Judging by some of the DLines he's coached I think it's you who is the moron. Again.
IIRC Waufle was taking sides when there were contract disputes, notably with Osi. That didn't endear him to the team.

Wasn't the issue with Waufle that he was undermining the D Coordinator? The DC would be saying one thing to Waufle, and behind closed doors he was more buddy buddy with his players and telling them something else?

How did you guys hear about this stuff? Genuinely curious.

It's never a big story. It's only ever a single line in an article or a tweet.
The Giants never like to talk poorly about outgoing employees, but he was "too close" to the players, and he also made too much noise about his own pay. Sounded like he had a higher impression of himself than the team did.

Yeah, that was just buried in the story when Waufle moved on. They made it clear that the team and Waufle didn't see eye to eye on personnel, and that it wasn't necessarily performance based.
I can't remember if he was passed over for the DC job or not (I know Giunta was), but that was also the year where Osi came back from injury and gave very little effort. He walked out of a defensive meeting during training camp and basically gave up trying to play the run as the season went on, shooting for sacks on every play.
Waufle and Osi were very buddy buddy, which might have had something to do with Osi's performance that year and might have helped push Waufle out the door.
You beat me too it. Osi being above criticism from his DC speaks volumes to how Waufle was probably treating him.
