New York Giants kicker Josh Brown was reportedly cited for violating a restraining order two months after the initial arrest that led to his one-game suspension. The information was released by the Kings County (N.Y) prosecutor's office on Friday, according to SNY. Brown was originally arrested for a domestic violence incident in May 2015. The New York Daily News reports that a protective order was placed five days later preventing Brown from coming within 500 feet of his then-wife's residence but that he violated that in July by driving by the house. "I think he's been driving by, seeing like who's car is in the driveway, what I'm doing, if the babysitter's here or not," his then-wife told deputies at the time, according to the incident report. "He's not supposed to be doing that." |
.
The info is coming from the prosecutor. The previous info came from a police report. While it may be a failed relationship, not looking like a money grab.
.
For violating a restraining order
Whatever is going to happen is going happen.
Can we get some normal press about the NY Football Giants!
I think the Giants have already moved on. If he's their best option at kicker, they'll keep him, and the media be damned. If he's not, then goodbye and good luck.
And before you say, well then don't view this one, why don't you just post on one of the existing threads if it is so important to you.
It takes a special kind of idiot to blame the "liberal media" for something like this.
wonder if the giants knew about this piece of the story and if they did whether it would have made a difference in terms of their decision on brown.
And before you say, well then don't view this one, why don't you just post on one of the existing threads if it is so important to you.

You would hope so, but I wouldn't be surprised if they get caught off guard again

And no self respecting hipster would have a goatee, that is sooo middle america
I'm starting to think they have been caught off guard and didn't really do all the due diligence they made it seem like they did.
Or maybe they knew all about this and Brown convinced them that he did the drive by because he was worried about the welfare of his children (total speculation).

This same law enforcement agency didn't cooperate with the NFL, when they did their own investigation. I think that doesn't speak well of the NFL, when a sheriff's office out in the Pacific Northwest wouldn't cooperate.
It's not just the players anymore who don't trust the NFL!
I am not saying I stick up for the players all the time,
I am saying that's the perception of the actions of this
law enforcement agency. Both them and Brown's ex didn't cooperate, which led to the one game suspension.
Go look at their statement, after they handed out their
one game suspension.
Do you wear tom coughlin khakis and listen to Kenny Chesney? :)
100% agree...almost vomited the other day when I saw Melissa Mark-Viverito chime in and demanding the Giants cut Brown...I hope Mara and the Giants don't buckle to political pressure from left wing loons like Viverito...this of course is assuming Brown has no further incidents that could potentially embarrass the Giants...
Quote:
Only thing i'll say is despite this getting released now, this happened July, 2015. Wouldn't you think the Giants would have known about this part of it prior to the extension and the NFL knew about this part prior to the suspension?

I highly doubt the PD was acting on any opinion of the NFL. They were probably just following policy.
The NFL has no extra rights to information over the rest of society.

Replaceable? With who?
Make the decision based on the evidence and the investigation, whether it is a kicker or the star QB.
And a common sentiment that keeps getting brought up is that if he wasn't a Giant, we'd be calling him all sorts of names. And yet, you don't see a lot of giant fans going after Elliott, and you rarely hear about Dez Bryant assaulting his Mother. Does anyone think Ochocinco's legacy is tarnished?
About the only people BBI has gone after is Greg Hardy and Ray Rice.
It is a pretty weak strawman argument.
The only thing I'm confident of is that whatever decision is made on Brown, it will come down to the facts and the investigation.
I disagree - fair or not, players pay close attention to punishments/violations of fellow players...and SOME also view these punishments through a race lens. when brady had his deflategate suspension reversed, there were a lot of players who felt this was white privilege in action. some giants players may see that brown keeping his job in light of all these incidents is also another example of white privilege. and though i don't necessarily agree with that view, it could be the perception.
I'm not defending JB nor am I bending over backwards. I will just say this one more time. We do not know the full story. We have one confirmed incident that resulted in a one game suspension and a lot of accusations by the ex-wife that, as far as I know, have not been corroborated by any other evidence.
I'm not saying he is innocent but put down the torches and pitchforks until the full story is known.

For those who think this is a distraction, poll the players and you'll see they couldn't care less

Whether he is guilty or not, kickers are very replaceable. Why carry him on the roster when we're going to be continually inundated with questions about him? It's an unnecessary distraction that we should have moved on from.

It's a distraction in the eyes of BBI.
Plus I think the team would support the front office in it's defense of a team mate. In fact they may not appreciate a player getting cut because BBI thinks he is a distraction. I give the Mara credit for that.

By that logic Victor Cruz should be cut. Everyday people ask questions about him. And JPP should have been told to bugger off in September last year.
Questions are part of McAdoo's and the players jobs. The only distractions that hurt a team are those that affect the locker room. And I don't see that in this case.
True. But I tend to respect an organization that tries to treats players the same regardless of expediency. I believe it is called integrity.
