Why is Headley DH???

Brett Gardner LF
Jacoby Ellsbury CF
Gary Sanchez C
Mark Teixeira 1B
Didi Gregorius SS
Starlin Castro 2B
Chase Headley DH
Aaron Judge RF
Ronald Torreyes 3B

Hopefully it's not because
bceagle05 : 8/26/2016 5:42 pm : link
Headley's been a whiny bitch about losing playing time.
Why is Headley the DH?
Jim in Tampa : 8/26/2016 5:54 pm : link
Headley or McCann. Is there really that much of a difference at this point?
Mccanns grandmother passed away
viggie : 8/26/2016 5:55 pm : link
Hes not with the team, hence Headley DH
I would have never said this a month ago
stockton : 8/26/2016 5:57 pm : link
but I'd rather see Hicks in the lineup at this point than Headley. He's been hitting much better as of late.
I like Girardi.....but his lineup choices have been awful lately
Tesla : 8/26/2016 6:03 pm : link
Hitting the corpse of Tex cleanup is a joke at this point. He's been every bit as awful as A-Rod was this year. He's also on the verge of giving up on Austin after a handful of games, which is just stupid.

And Hicks has been playing well lately, why not have him in over Ellsbury or Gardner?
I can't believe I'm saying this, but Hicks should be in the lineup.
shockeyisthebest8056 : 8/26/2016 6:07 pm : link
Tex has been worse than A-Rod... Alex got cut 2-3 weeks ago and was benched 3-4 weeks before that and STILL has more RBIs than Mark Teixeira.
There was an analysis in Pinstripe Alley
Jay in Toronto : 8/26/2016 6:09 pm : link
That argues that Headly's batting has improved.
Let's go - help us and the Jays
I'm OK with Teix playing 1B, but batting cleanup not so much -
Del Shofner : 8/26/2016 6:11 pm : link
basically inviting them to pitch around Sanchez.
Not
mitch300 : 8/26/2016 6:57 pm : link
sure why they are giving up on Austin so quickly. That is one problem with Girardi, no patience at all with some of the youth. Though I do admit Judge has a longer leash.

Its why I think he has to change soon or be bumped upstairs and a Teacher type manager will have to take over.
Teix goes deep, with Sanchez on (of course)

One of the baseball-isms I find so amusing...EVERY time a hitter goes the other way for a hit, it's a "good piece of hitting". If they pull a line drive hit, it's great and all, but never described as a good piece of hitting.
BAL in their bullpen already.

And Danny, I doubt it. Cashman wants to Flex Green and Cessa the rest of the year I would bet. Plus CC and Pineda aren't leaving the rotation and Tanaka has been an ace.

I think they will trade/replace Green in the offseason in a big trade, Cessa will stay and be a nice stud for us.

I see them staying pat , signing a Chapman and maybe another arm for the Pen, then going balls to the wall in the 2017-2018 offseason polishing up the team for a dynasty run with the finishing touches to the rotation and a guy like Mateo or Torres coming up.

Most interesting things will be how Cash gets rid of McCann,Gardner and even Headley this offseason. We are certainly stuck with Ellsbury though.

You know what? Binders might make some weird lineup choices and fuck with the bullpen a bit. But no one. No one. Has ever dealt with this kind of shitshow as a result of ownership and their complete fuckassery. He's done an excellent job, imo considering the madness he inherited.

Somehow I don't think Kevin Maas is going to be a valid comparison.
Amazing how quick the game was for a blowout

Game ended at like 10 pm lol.

With all those hits and all. Quick turnaround tomorrow.. Wonder what the lineup will be...
Probly Sanchez at DH if not then Tex
Romine at Catcher
Austin at 1st
Torreyes better be at 3B
Will Hicks get a start over anyone in the OF

A win tomorrow would be a pretty big deal

Yankee player I ever saw that demanded the kind of attention with his at bats was Mickey Mantle. That is how great this kid has been. That includes Munson, Murcer, Mattingly, Reggie, Jeter, all of them. This kid has been absolutely fantastic, the most exciting player I have seen since The Mick, time will tell if he can sustain it.

I remember Shane Spencer and Kevin Maas, they also were late season call ups that killed it, but not quite like this kid, because this kid is just s good behind the plate too, he is the best defensive catcher and signal caller since Munson.

We just have to wait and see if he can sustain all this.

Is 0-32 in his last 8 games.
Of course he can't sustain all this.

Baseball math won't permit it. He can drop down a ton and still be an all-star.

Interestingly he was a very good but not great prospect by most observers' rankings. Yankee team minor league rankings would have jumped if you put him at or near the top of the heap.

MLB.com had him as the #30 prospect, and 4th on the Yankees behind Frazier, Mateo and Judge--but the #1 catching prospect.

If Green and Cessa are even OK as #4-5 starters, the outlook takes a big jump, especially with Tanaka seemingly healthy (knock wood).

Who knew?

Green gave up a hit and a walk, but struck out the side.
