Hitting the corpse of Tex cleanup is a joke at this point. He's been every bit as awful as A-Rod was this year. He's also on the verge of giving up on Austin after a handful of games, which is just stupid.
And Hicks has been playing well lately, why not have him in over Ellsbury or Gardner?
I can't believe I'm saying this, but Hicks should be in the lineup.
sure why they are giving up on Austin so quickly. That is one problem with Girardi, no patience at all with some of the youth. Though I do admit Judge has a longer leash.

Its why I think he has to change soon or be bumped upstairs and a Teacher type manager will have to take over.
One of the baseball-isms I find so amusing...EVERY time a hitter goes the other way for a hit, it's a "good piece of hitting". If they pull a line drive hit, it's great and all, but never described as a good piece of hitting.
Donnie Baseball the best of them. But Tex is great, and Tino And Pepitone were darn good as well. I feel like I'm forgetting someone else...it ain't Moose Scowron, though.

Not sure Donnie was better than Teix. I might give slight edge to Teix. Doesn't matter both outstanding.

.@ElGarySanchez is the third player in Major League history to hit 10 home runs in his first 22 career games (T. Story-10, G. Scott-10).
And Danny, I doubt it. Cashman wants to Flex Green and Cessa the rest of the year I would bet. Plus CC and Pineda aren't leaving the rotation and Tanaka has been an ace.
I think they will trade/replace Green in the offseason in a big trade, Cessa will stay and be a nice stud for us.
I see them staying pat , signing a Chapman and maybe another arm for the Pen, then going balls to the wall in the 2017-2018 offseason polishing up the team for a dynasty run with the finishing touches to the rotation and a guy like Mateo or Torres coming up.
Most interesting things will be how Cash gets rid of McCann,Gardner and even Headley this offseason. We are certainly stuck with Ellsbury though.
You know what? Binders might make some weird lineup choices and fuck with the bullpen a bit. But no one. No one. Has ever dealt with this kind of shitshow as a result of ownership and their complete fuckassery. He's done an excellent job, imo considering the madness he inherited.
And watch. Assholes like Levine, Steinbrenner and Trost will start to engage the media now that there's some excitement.
some of us, including me, criticized Girardi for tonight's lineup but
pythag. Five games over this year, seven games over in 2014, and six games over in 2013. Last year, they were only one below, and in the process managed to scrape into a playoff spot. He's gotten the Yankees to overachieve pretty consistently.
With all those hits and all. Quick turnaround tomorrow.. Wonder what the lineup will be...
Probly Sanchez at DH if not then Tex
Romine at Catcher
Austin at 1st
Torreyes better be at 3B
Will Hicks get a start over anyone in the OF
Yankee player I ever saw that demanded the kind of attention with his at bats was Mickey Mantle. That is how great this kid has been. That includes Munson, Murcer, Mattingly, Reggie, Jeter, all of them. This kid has been absolutely fantastic, the most exciting player I have seen since The Mick, time will tell if he can sustain it.
I remember Shane Spencer and Kevin Maas, they also were late season call ups that killed it, but not quite like this kid, because this kid is just s good behind the plate too, he is the best defensive catcher and signal caller since Munson.
We just have to wait and see if he can sustain all this.
Baseball math won't permit it. He can drop down a ton and still be an all-star.
Interestingly he was a very good but not great prospect by most observers' rankings. Yankee team minor league rankings would have jumped if you put him at or near the top of the heap.
MLB.com had him as the #30 prospect, and 4th on the Yankees behind Frazier, Mateo and Judge--but the #1 catching prospect.
If Green and Cessa are even OK as #4-5 starters, the outlook takes a big jump, especially with Tanaka seemingly healthy (knock wood).
And Hicks has been playing well lately, why not have him in over Ellsbury or Gardner?
Let's go - help us and the Jays
Its why I think he has to change soon or be bumped upstairs and a Teacher type manager will have to take over.
2-1 works for me. Teix lit that one up.
3-2
4-1 Yanks!
Thought this season was dead! Great job cash!!!
number 24 well deserved.
That was a very Jeterian hit. :)
Great team hitting!!!
Peace Gallardo!!! 1.1 Ip, bring on the bullpen Buck

He'll just slash a 2 run double into RF!!!

Holy shit....thats what, six straight hits now?
Holy shit....thats what, six straight hits now?
Oh it sure was.
And this inning is ridiculous...Castro joins the hit parade!!
Guy has done a damn good job this season managing this team. Somehow they have a legit shot and we're closing in on September.
Yep, one of the best 1B I've seen...
Not sure Donnie was better than Teix. I might give slight edge to Teix. Doesn't matter both outstanding.
Danny Cater ?

Danny Cater ?
Wasn't Cater 3B?
And yes Cessa is the goods. What a frickin trade by Cashman getting him and Green for Wilson.
Teams are gonna start being afraid to trade with Cashman soon
.@ElGarySanchez is the third player in Major League history to hit 10 home runs in his first 22 career games (T. Story-10, G. Scott-10).
Spencer 1998 and Glenallen Hill 2000 are the only comps I can think of.
The talk about the sound off Giancarlo Stanton's bat. Sanchez's sounds different too.
Look at what we hauled in for Wilson, Chapman and Miller.
sign every high profile LH reliever.
Love this fucking guy.
No, you're wrong. He's going to hit .400 with 70 homers next season. You just watch.
Gary Sanchez (10HR in 19 August games) is the first Yankees rookie to hit 10 home runs in a single month.

as a Yankee fan. Rookie or not, I've never seen a Yankee locked in like this. It's like a video game.
Spencer 1998 and Glenallen Hill 2000 are the only comps I can think of.
Yeah I thought about Shane. He was a lot of fun too. That season was nuts. 10 hrs in 67 ABs.
Robinson Cano was not a world beater in the minors and he might be HOF bound
Many times hitters do better because MLB pitchers are around the plate more than minor leaguers. Just a thought. But damn is it fun...
Man, Cashman and the scouts did a great job at the deadline.
Not following you B...?

Anti liver night. Young man's game.
Thanks.
Yep. Ratings have gone up. Heard that, too.

Somehow I don't think Kevin Maas is going to be a valid comparison.
