NFT: Yanks vs O's afternoon delight

Neckbone1333 : 8/27/2016 1:44 pm
1-0 yanks - bottom of 2nd

Green got out of 1 out, bases loaded jam in 1st by striking out Schoop and Alvarez.

Has 4 K's already and the ump, Ron Coleman, behind the plate, has robbed him of 3 strikes so far. Brutal.

If you average Sanchez's last 15 games out to 162
Mike in Long Beach : 8/27/2016 3:22 pm : link
His line would be: 486, 119 HRs, 194 RBIs.

Yeah, I got nothin'.
I stand corrected his WAR places him
Rob in CT/NYC : 8/27/2016 3:22 pm : link
At 19th among 2B, with a whopping 0.8.

He is eminently replaceable, and should be...
Castro with another hit.
Dave in Hoboken : 8/27/2016 3:26 pm : link
.
Castro
PaulN : 8/27/2016 3:26 pm : link
Has been hitting great lately, Paul O"Niell pointed out his at bats with runners in scoring position, I would not say this kid won't be the yanks second baseman for a long time, this kid is just taping in to his potential, he is 26, writing off players when they are 26 is moronic.
McCann with an RBI Single.
Dave in Hoboken : 8/27/2016 3:27 pm : link
Nice to see him having a good game after missing yesterday's game due to his grandmother's death. Good for him.
Castro just needs better plate discipline
DennyInDenville : 8/27/2016 3:28 pm : link
Other then that he's a B+ player for sure.

McCann having a nice day. 2 hits the opposite way. Nice to see.
I was joking about the "good piece of hitting" comments last night
mfsd : 8/27/2016 3:28 pm : link
But several of the Yanks have been doing a much better job of using the whole field lately...like McCann just did

Good piece of hitting!!
RBI Single for Hicks.
Dave in Hoboken : 8/27/2016 3:29 pm : link
This team has been on fire recently.
Hicks another rbi
DennyInDenville : 8/27/2016 3:29 pm : link
Castro scores.

11-4 Yanks

Get the brooms out tomorrow
The Oriole staff is unspeakably bad
Greg from LI : 8/27/2016 3:32 pm : link
Just terrible throughout the rotation and the pen.
Stan
PaulN : 8/27/2016 3:32 pm : link
Sanchez was hyped big time when the Yanks first got him. Like some have said, Johnny Bench, the whole thing was if they were going to be able to get him to be a good receiver. he worked hard and obviously he has become an excellent receiver. But he has been nicked up at times and he gets off to bad starts hitting wise. He finally has put it all together, it looked like he put it together the end of last season in the minors, then spring training comes and he is off to a horrible start as usual. He was heating up in the minors but nothing like this, he comes here and puts his entire game together, Unreal is the only word to use.
There could be an Orioles position player pitching

Before this is over
Lovin this!

Actually, ignoring his 4000 plate appearances and focusing on how he is hitting "lately" is moronic, but proceed.
Would have been fun if they had pinch hit Judge here
Greg from LI : 8/27/2016 3:34 pm : link
Bags full, no out, lefty specialist on the mound
Gardy showing his power
DennyInDenville : 8/27/2016 3:35 pm : link
Rbi single hit 1 inch lol
I'd rest/pull Sanchez after this AB
The_Boss : 8/27/2016 3:37 pm : link
No need for him to catch the rest of the day
This ump sucks
DennyInDenville : 8/27/2016 3:39 pm : link
Cost Gary a grand salami IMO
The thrill is gone
Greg from LI : 8/27/2016 3:40 pm : link
Send him down
Sanchez gets screwed by an ump who wants to rush the game along
mfsd : 8/27/2016 3:43 pm : link
O'Neill would still be screaming at him were he still playing. He's going soft in the booth.
And to think, I heard a lot comparing Sanchez to Shane Spencer
micky : 8/27/2016 3:52 pm : link
Crazy pace..just hope when he comes down to earth it's not for a long period of time.

As it might have been with many players who fixed issues at the old age Castro is at....

Example? There are many, apparently...
Wow Paul Oneil really LOVES Castro lol

4 hit game for Starlin.

Interesting article
Rob in CT/NYC : 8/27/2016 3:59 pm : link
Technical, but worth the read about why it's rare for plate discipline to improve over time.
Plate Discipline - ( New Window )

rare? ok. i'm not expert. Paul might know more about hitting than either of us and he has optimism. I prefer to hope all Yankees players will reach their potential and improve. I know - weird.
Hope Buck's having as much fun as

Not weird, but after 4,000 ABs we kind of know what Castro is and what is his potential. My preference is for the Yankees to acquire quality players and avoid paying $40 million to a less than average - offensively - infielder - crazy, right?
I love when O'Neill is in the booth.

Buck was pissed off LITERALLY 5 minutes after the game started.
Yea Oneil and Cone are my favorites
DennyInDenville : 8/27/2016 4:12 pm : link
Yes just has a great team. Leiter, Singleton also both good.

Only weakness is Flash and Rucco IMO.

Then Bob Lorenz has to be the best in the business in the studio, I miss when he would call some games instead of Rucco
I know Greg from LI is thoroughly enjoying the look on Buck's face
Stu11 : 8/27/2016 4:14 pm : link
as his fraud of a pitching staff is being obscenely undressed like the Emperor with no clothes this weekend. I know I am :-)
Need the sweep tomorrow
DennyInDenville : 8/27/2016 4:15 pm : link
That would be KEY and BIG
Missed the beginning of the story
GruningsOnTheHill : 8/27/2016 4:20 pm : link
Paul O'Neill recounting when someone said to Steinbrenner, "Hey Cuz, can you give this guy a raise"....?
Romine thought he hit a foul ball, LOL.
Dave in Hoboken : 8/27/2016 4:21 pm : link

This team doesn't stop.
Dave in Hoboken : 8/27/2016 4:24 pm : link

I've got an example, and I didn't need to look very far.
Shirk130 : 8/27/2016 4:24 pm : link
Paul O'Neill put it all together at the young age of 30. Castro still has time to improve.
I know it doesn't mean much,
Neckbone1333 : 8/27/2016 4:25 pm : link
But Tyler Austin needs to run there. At the very least to break up the double-play, but he would've been safe here. Not something I want to see a first-year player doing.

No doubt, that didn't look good at all
Even up 8 or 10 runs
GruningsOnTheHill : 8/27/2016 4:28 pm : link
I don't like seeing lack of hustle by the rookie out of the box like that. Austin lost himself a single on that.
This game feels like it's been going forever.
Dave in Hoboken : 8/27/2016 4:32 pm : link

why does Kay
RasputinPrime : 8/27/2016 4:37 pm : link
not know what susceptible means?
Another series win!
Dave in Hoboken : 8/27/2016 4:38 pm : link
Only 2.5 games out of the wild card.
Yankees win 13-5 after yesterday's 14-4 drubbing of the O's
GruningsOnTheHill : 8/27/2016 4:39 pm : link
Does that mean they sweep the series tomorrow by a 12-6 margin?

Bullpen hasn't been taxed too much, and Dellin has been able to take a few days off
27 runs/36 hits in 16 innings

Tight Underpants Buck has to be popping blood vessels right about now.
Damn.
