injuries, but that's too much to hope for. The sad reality is that injuries will end up making a lot of roster decisions. It's that way every year for each team.
No injuries plus a better showing than last week...
grabbed his jersey. It could have been called. Nice stiffening by the D. We're getting some pressure. Still look good, but let's see something from the offense.

RE: RE: Wasn't that Darkwa with that shitty block attempt
How are they going to continue to run, run, and then no choice but to pass in what is suppose to be a WCO. They throw a screen to Jennings earlier that got yards but right back to run, run, pass. It's no wonder Eli got lit up since they put themselves in that position to begin with.
that was a real horseshit video editing job... that was footage of Hall after giving up the first down transposed 5 minutes later after the punt.. it wasn't live action.
What do we have? Less than 10 net yards?? This OL blows. I've said it all offseason, this unit is going to prevent this offense from maximizing its potential.
eli had good time on those back to back plays, he needed a little longer however he had enough time to complete a play for a first...those downs werent bad. the 5 yard loss is a matter of assignments, how do you have malleck blocking wilkerson PLAY SIDE
this is the Giants vanilla playbook. I'm not an X's and O's guy and even I can see this..
Sure but can you explain why most of our guys cannot block? Ereck Flowers has been the only bright spot along the O-Line tonight, which is actually a bit of relief.
One more quarter before they start the season! I don't think you'll see much of them next thurs and this offense is absolutely horrendous, I don't mean bad, just horrendous.
Due to a vanilla playbook, it's about losing one on one match up across the board on offense
no its not. its vanilla as hell. i agree we have lost some matchups but its clearly vanilla and we clearly arent trying to get the ball to OBJ...he doesnt have a look...clearly they are trying to keep him clean
Try watching a DC Football Club broadcast. They can't say a damn thing positive about any opponent. There was the most absurd roughing the passer call last night. Lorenzo Alexander did a beautiful spin move on Morgan Moses, put his head across Cousins torso and wrapped the legs. Theismann couldn't bring himself to say it was an embarrassing and horrendous call.

the defense looks GREAT. apple is the real deal in coverage so far. the dline getting a good push, our run d looks very good. collins is all over the field. we already have a takeaway could have easily had two. the offense is CLEARLY not full go...not one thropw to OBJ and shep...they are just going through the motions...trying to fix things up front. we are going to be fine...i for one am enjoying the game...we are healthy so far(fingers crossed) defense looks good. offense will get going
Are we supposed to be working this as a dress rehearsal?
Has been laughable. There doesn't seem to be any coordination between lineman, the TEs aren't aetting the edge and the running backs are winning with their eyes closed. There have been cutback lanes but the RB keep hitting the hole as designed - whether it's there or not
If not for OV, this D would not be that great either!

Sure, doesn't matter that our O-lineman are physically dominated.
Doesn't matter that our TE's are horrible
Doesn't matter that a veteran like Vereen does not know how to pick up a blitz and nearly gets Eli killed.
It is just pre-season. All of this will magically improve when the game really matters.
youre out of your mind...EVERYONE looks good on defense minus leon hall and berhe. collins all over field. apple good three times he was targeted. JPP forced that fumble that went out of bounds...snacks and hankins look awesome...the defense is A 1
They've certainly gone away from the WCO aspect of the offense, but the blocking is legitimately terrible. I half think they're trying out stuff they think they're not good at but frankly they're putting themselves in situations where they're risking the QB's health
There is a precedent with this team carrying over bad play from the summer into the season. Do you honestly think come week 1, this group is going to magically resemble a competent OL???

I don't even think Berhe looks that bad to be honest. In an ideal world he'd be backing up Collins as the SS, he's not being abject at FS thus far which is more than can be said for some of his predecessors.
the giants need to stop trying to "establish" a run. They can't run...the sooner the coaching staff realize that the better. They need to be more like the pats and throw first and when the defense gives you the run then you take it later in the game.

Actually, there are some good efforts on D, but Fitz had a few open receivers he could of hit, if not for OV pressure!

DO YOU GUYS NOT UNDERSTAND PRESEASON???? THey are trying different run concepts with different personnel to try and see what may work...its not about moving the ball or scoring...its about finding the right combo. they test different things etc...its not about winning. its about testing. i am perfectly fine with whats happeneing. the panic here makes us look like a cowboys board
i realize one shouldn't put too much stock in preseason

Anyone hold there breath when Jerry went down ...lol
Beckum makes the business decision and Hands the Jets
a TD ...
So this top 10 offense is no where to be found ....

We know it is not about winning. I dont think anyone really cares about that. However, don't you think that McAdoo would like to see this offense string a couple of first downs together? Maybe move the ball just a little bit. Last week we gained about 100 total net yards on offense. Maybe McAdoo would like to work on any kind of success moving the ball? You really think he is choosing to run plays that will not work?
They have 19 total fucking yards in this first half.
This is not the way we will call plays in the regular season. Week 3 is to try things you have trouble with. I guess in our case it's running and blocking.

i agree he def wants to see a few firsts but he knows he is missing pugh and he knows its about figuring out things and working out the kinks
it was a ZERO BLITZ. its not on the OL...eli has to make a 2 second decision the OL could almost never block for that...again. the offense has looked bad but you guys act like he was sacked 10 times etc etc...OBJ was targeted like twice and one time he didnt risk getting hit and it went for an INT. reg season he catches that
freaking out? lmao...guys breathe...the offense has sputtered but its not the end of the world...get pugh back and we will be okay
OK, don't panic, because McAdoo told O-Line don't block.
bold youre a mod on this board...you clearly been around football enough. do you really panic like that? its PREASEASON...no matter what anyone says shit is vanilla as fuck...we are trying different run concepts and different blocking combos based on personnel. Add pugh back into the mix OBJ would have had about 7 targets already lol

Regular season Calvin Pryor kills him and we get the first from a penalty but Odell becomes week to week.
Let's take Eli out and hope for something better next game.
Hope springs eternal. I hope that a new team appears in Dallas, a team that does not get 1/2 yard per running play, does not have its punts blocked, and does not throw interceptions. The G offense is now 0 points for 6 quarters. I'm sure they'll light it up against the Cowboys.

Pointing out that the OLine hasn't blocked this pre-season isn't panicing. It's pointing out a fact.
I get excited about preseason games and every year it's the same dud. Eli has never been a preseason QB
This is very true, however, the whole offense is bad, poor blocking by Oline, TEs and RBs. Offense can't get going without better blocking. Execution very poor because of it and so, even if this is vanilla, the vanilla looks moldy!

Practice game or not. It is a problem to look like that up front.
Past two games...if you're ok with what you're seeing on Offense, that's your view. I see a heck of a lot to be worried about. So do all the beats.
Did one of the beats mention that the Giants offense in these games is different from what they have seen in practice? Different formations and packages.
preseason...vanilla play calls, VERY little checks...very little preparation for blitz packages(jets blitzing ALOT). again still working on personnel...missing Pugh...the offense clearly is out of sync but part of it is they are in scrimmage mode...
After years of watching the Giants, this is the worst preseason offense I've ever seen. Total offense of 47 yards. Maybe they'll show up as a completely different team when the regular season starts, but going from 0 to 100 seems unlikely. Maybe we'll start as we did some 7 years ago with 6 turnovers to the Cowboys, with Eli tossing 4 INTs.
RE: RE: To be honest the Giants D hasn't really shown that much
Throw the freaking ball! At this point, the offense might play to the 4 th quarter. We don't even have 70 yards of offense?,
Why take a chance with Eli holding the ball. Safe play was vereen up middle. If they sneak it through, he picks up nice yardage. Didn't happen so run out clock.
This week telling us fans to "relax" or "it's just preseason". We saw this crap coming since the spring and once Reese came away empty handed in the offseason with upgrades, continuity was preached. Sorry. We are smarter than that. This isn't now just 3 weeks. It's 4 God damn years of atrocious OL play. Enough is enough. We have a RT playing LT and 2 fringe players holding down the right side of the OL. This has to be, easilly, the worst OL in football.

It's make no sense that this OL is THIS bad. They had there issues last year but not nearly to this degree. I'm just a fan but it looks like the Jets are bringing a lot of pressure on every play and without preparing for it they look overmatched. What the coaches must be seeing is hat this line can't win on straight up talent so they will have to plan for it. Adams may be the solution at TE too he doesn't fuck up his blocks
and hiding our talent and explosive offense so the rest of the league is lulled into a false sense of security? Ok, got it.
Only the most cockeyed optimist is seeing this and isn't alarmed by our ineptitude on offense. What exactly has anyone seen that inspires confidence? We are getting housed by every defense we've faced. Losing nearly every man to man battle on nearly every play.

Vereen had probably the best year of his career last season.
Even the Giants said they are trying to figure out how to use him more effectively. HC stated it a couple of times. Not groundbreaking news.
I would assume they'd continue to do that with all players.
Doesn't change that he had the most targets, receptions, TDs, and receiving yards along with his best catch rate of his career in 2015. His YPR was even the second best of his career, though his overall rushing yards were down from his 2014 total (to second best of his career).
that cruz throw is a peek at our offense...something we dont want to totally expose...we could have been doing that all day...instead we are trying differen run concepts and blocking schemes and combos...again...hiding OBJ and Shep...no reason to risk injury allow them to run a couple routes and thats it...
is playing to win this game. Sending linebackers, safeties, corners on blitzes and challenging spots. I think we are seeing two different strategies for the preseason, on our end I think were trying to get out healthy. The Jets are trying to win the game and be game ready by the end of today. Our Oline depth is woefully thin, and with Pugh's absence, it really has hindered what we can do without risking our QB's health.
RE: Bowles is about the biggest asshole I've ever seen
and allowed 90 points in the first 2 regular season games.
They may have gone 0 and 4, but the team had many positives going into the season. I don't think there's anyone out there that has confidence in the offense after this preseason.
the game is meaningless other than evaluation purposes
and the guy's coaching like a playoff game...That makes him an asshole in my book.
you are entitled to your opinion. This is the NFL. You coach the game.... period. Plus, are you saying that a coach would only challenge during a playoff game?
By the way, I would think that the NFL would also like for the officials to practice these challenges too.
and the guy's coaching like a playoff game...That makes him an asshole in my book.
He shouldn't play to win? He was right on both challenges. They weren't exactly frivolous.
Would it have made any difference if he didn't do either of them? Is it going to change the regular season in some impactful way if Vereen is given that first down and his player isn't?

He's also sending the house on 3rd and 13 when clearly the Giants are running vanilla offense. It's the same kinda Rex Ryan bullshit, IMO. I hope they enjoy the Snoopy Trophy though, it can go right next to the Super Bowl from nearly 50 years ago.

Come on, Pete. You're nit-picking. I know you're frustrated, but you would want McAdoo to do the same thing in the same situation.
our offense getting? Plenty of things to correct on film, but does anyone see improvement? I do think Flowers played better this week and so there's that, however, the Oline as a whole is just not getting a push or playing physical. No room to run and QBs are not getting time....

Oh yes clearly vanilla...because we are going to see flea flickers and double reverses vs Dallas in a couple of weeks. We have run the ball in every direction and through every gap so far. It is not as if we are just running a draw on every play.
Some you with these vanilla comments don't know WTF you are talking about.
By the way, if I am coaching the Giants I WANT the Jets to blitz me. How else will your offense practice against it? Do you really want our backs and your WRs to read blitz and figure out what to do for the first time against Dallas.
Get in the car tomorrow and go to Modells and buy yourself a clue. I hear they are having a sale.

We are gonna see it all against the Cowboys. They don't know anything about the Giants secret wildcat formation with OBJ. Stay tuned.
with Janoris Jenkins. Taller receivers are going to have a field day with this guy. Since Jenkins entered the league in 2012, only Buster Skrine and Patrick Peterson have allowed more TDs than Jenkins who has allowed 22. I think Reese signed Jenkins over Prince because he thought Prince was too laid back, not aggressive enough. If so, I can see Reese's point. But with Jenkins, be prepared for feast or famine.
How many years of Eli's prime do we have to waste behind a shit OL?
Non-specifically, most of it.
Which is partly why there was a solid case -- when sentimentality was subtracted -- for them to have traded him instead of extending him last year. By the time this team-wide reclamation project is finished, including the OL rebuild, at the rate it's been going, Eli's time is going to be up and they're going to have another huge problem to deal with.
(And before anyone says something about it only being pre-season: my thoughts aren't [mostly] based on what they've shown in these practice sessions).
This isn't exactly getting me excited about this season. I have many better things to do than watch this complete utter fucking shit show week in and week out.

Other teams are playing vanilla offense, too, but they don't look this pathetic. Nassib did not want Eli to have all the INT glory, so he tried his best to give one away.

eagles looked like a juggernaut last year in playoffs and we saw what happened...
you can see how vanilla the offense is based on the playcalling..
3rd and 9 and they are running a draw play to vereen..every series was run run pass...
there was not a lot of shot gun spread em out and dink and dunk down the field...
has this offensive playcalling looked like anything from last year?

about Cruz the person ... just a good guy ... great story his rookie year and would be fitting for the story to continue this year ... I'm really pulling for him

by Hackenberg. No blitzes, and simple coverages. But he made the correct reads, and his throws were accurate and strong. He lead receivers, and put the ball where only they could catch it. Nice.
Mostly Darkwa today and Rainey next week. People don't want to believe it but Williams is probably the backup to Jennings. He and Perkins got carries the first two games. Perkins will be inactive most likely.
We are doing everything reverse and saving it all for Dallas. You'll see. We can't show all our stuff. I can't believe Mac slipped up and allowed that damn reverse.
looked good in preseason games last year, including Indy. He has been spraying balls, but is playing with a bunch of new guys. He also has the arm strength, and some mobility. And if Eli goes down, we're finished anyway. Nassau is the backup. Deal with it.

Nice pick, off the deflection by Coleman.
HAHA. Meant Nassib is the backup. Auto correct I think.
Safety Mykkele Thompson
Safety Darian Thompson
TE Will Johnson
TE Matt LaCosse
OL Justin Pugh
OL Bobby Hart will start for OL Justin Pugh
Amen!!
Let the hilarity ensue once the backups come in. We don't know what the hell he's gonna say.
It's crystal clear HD for me in Scotland!

Can't block, can't score.
Is that even possible???????
...sarcasm, correct? because it sure looked like he got blown by around the corner by an LB

Of course Flowers was beaten like a drum on the other side as well.

no its not. its vanilla as hell. i agree we have lost some matchups but its clearly vanilla and we clearly arent trying to get the ball to OBJ...he doesnt have a look...clearly they are trying to keep him clean
Agreed. We're getting beat so badly at the LOS, this has nothing to do with being vanilla on offense during the preseason.
That was a nice play by Collins.
what device ? if on PC.mac you have to turn it up manually
Playing himself off the team.
We can't execute basic plays right now. Stop.
We havent seen Shep since the first game of preseason.
Mine is fine.
And two per punt!
I saw that. Terrible call. Awful.

It's brutal. Not as brutal as the Giants OL and TEs, but brutal nonetheless.

Ditto.
Defense playing much better than last year
Our O-line playing like the worst in the league
Eli with no time and unable to get the ball to the WRs
The only difference is the special teams look worse this week.

Serious? ... wow.
The NFL might say something just like the pro bowl effort.
Those people paid to see this scrimmage
Wait...
Yes someone gets it.
I half think they're trying out stuff they think they're not good at but frankly they're putting themselves in situations where they're risking the QB's health
defense looks fast and gang tackling..
offense looks like they are not opening it up, a lot of run run and pass
There is a precedent with this team carrying over bad play from the summer into the season. Do you honestly think come week 1, this group is going to magically resemble a competent OL???

I don't even think Berhe looks that bad to be honest. In an ideal world he'd be backing up Collins as the SS, he's not being abject at FS thus far which is more than can be said for some of his predecessors.
Wait...
the giants need to stop trying to "establish" a run. They can't run...the sooner the coaching staff realize that the better. They need to be more like the pats and throw first and when the defense gives you the run then you take it later in the game.

He was leading him into a vicious hit. I wouldn't have tried for that either in preseason
Then they shouldn't call a deep slant to him.

Eli didn't look of the safety and had no business throwing the ball to that spot given the coverage.

I'm trying to decide if this or post suggesting Eli is done is the post of the thread.

Well, preseason or not, I think it is safe to say this is NOT what the coaches are hoping to see.

I'm kinda shock. I mean I seen about three different blitz packages from them. Some block punt packages too. You never show that much in preseason.
Regular season Calvin Pryor kills him and we get the first from a penalty but Odell becomes week to week.
Hope springs eternal. I hope that a new team appears in Dallas, a team that does not get 1/2 yard per running play, does not have its punts blocked, and does not throw interceptions. The G offense is now 0 points for 6 quarters. I'm sure they'll light it up against the Cowboys.

Gotta lay it all on the line for the coveted Snoopy Bowl trophy!
This is very true, however, the whole offense is bad, poor blocking by Oline, TEs and RBs. Offense can't get going without better blocking. Execution very poor because of it and so, even if this is vanilla, the vanilla looks moldy!

Same problem last week too. Needs to be fixed.

So...so excited for week 1.

Did one of the beats mention that the Giants offense in these games is different from what they have seen in practice? Different formations and packages.
Vereen: 6 carries, 11 yards
Jennings: 5 carries, -2 yards
awesome.
Maybe it's a clueless fan thing?
They use Vereen like they used Tyrone Wheatley predictable

Vereen had probably the best year of his career last season.
It doesn't matter if they don't score for the rest of the preseason, it means nothing!
Why take a chance with Eli holding the ball. Safe play was vereen up middle. If they sneak it through, he picks up nice yardage. Didn't happen so run out clock.

Only the most cockeyed optimist is seeing this and isn't alarmed by our ineptitude on offense. What exactly has anyone seen that inspires confidence? We are getting housed by every defense we've faced. Losing nearly every man to man battle on nearly every play.
Not as brutal as this fucked up offensive line. Some one is gonna get killed back there, either Eli or a running back. Depend upon it.

Doesn't change that he had the most targets, receptions, TDs, and receiving yards along with his best catch rate of his career in 2015. His YPR was even the second best of his career, though his overall rushing yards were down from his 2014 total (to second best of his career).

Stay tuned.
This will be the 4th consecutive year. I'm not sure what will get finished first: the NYG OL "rebuild" or the new Tappan Zee Bridge...

LOL!! :)
I have many better things to do than watch this complete utter fucking shit show week in and week out.

there was not a lot of shot gun spread em out and dink and dunk down the field...

I could see them keeping 5 DE's (Vernon, JPP, Owa, Wynn, Okwara)
+10000
Adams had a two good blocks and a nice reception. At least he will make the roster.
That's all I got for the offense.
Gorgeous route by King. He really sold the corner fake. And a nice throw by Nassib. Good reverse beforehand.

Defensive TD on a fumble forced by Snacks and TD from Nassib to King.

Nice pick, off the deflection by Coleman.
