We need help and lots of it (a starting OT and a starting RG to start, plus a shitload of depth. Also, a backup QB who doesn't pretend like he's Randy Johnson would be nice too)
Par for the course for this group over the last 5 years. The OL getting manhandled was something I mentioned all week and it came to fruition. My guess is, from Mara down to the kid to collects the used jocks in the locker room after games, everyone associated with the NYG are very worried about that unit and how it can, potentially, submarine the playoff aspirations of what otherwise is a very solid team.
the weird part is after last year and going into the preseason
Olivier Vernon
Eli Apple
Romeo Okwara
Jerell Adams (both on offense and on special teams)
Kerry Wynn
Andrew Adams
Paul Perkins (from the little we saw)
Tavares King
Adams, King, Lewis, and Okwara likely made the team. The TEs will probably be Tye, Donnell, and Adams. LaCosse to the PS. Maybe Malleck as well. Saw Donnell whiff on at least one block. Everybody in the league will attack his blocking.
No push in the run game. I know it's preseason, and Pugh is out, but I'd like to see more. The depth on the OL is also lacking.
Nassib is the backup. He sprayed balls, and needs better touch. But he has arm strength, and mobility. He's the backup.
Safety is an interesting decision. I wonder if they put M. Thompson on IR for another year. I like the little we've seen from A. Adams, but it's probably PS for him.
the only thing I'd caution everyone about is that the Jets have an amazing defensive line... this was not a good game to be without Justin Pugh.
Would Pugh really have made THAT much of a difference tho? He, too, routinely gets obliterated against top DL. Put on any Eagle game he's played in as exhibit A.
I guess Cruz can run without collapsing. I don't know what that is suppose to mean or how that even translate to a roster spot but okay.
You can't evaluate WRs or expect them to make plays when the QB is running for his life.
So how does Cruz earn a roster spot even he has been absent for most of training camp and had one short yard reception? I learned nothing from Cruz tonight about whether he is real option on this team going forward. Lewis and King look like they deserve a spot on the roster.
Adams looked like the best blocking TE and actual best option at getting real YAC for a TE on this roster and he got the least amount of reps.
I don't know what to say about the OL.
For all the hate Williams get, please evaluate Jennings play this preseason and compare the two.
They got killed, in almost every man to man matchup, on pretty much every play. I'm seriously worried about Eli's well being behind this line when he's going to probably have to throw it 40-50 times per game.

I don't know how they'll evaluate it. It's their mess to sort out. But that offense has been essentially non-functional for two appearances because of the blocking. WRs aren't given enough time to run routes. The one play Beckham might have had, if he caught that ball, the Jets Safety either concusses him, or separates his shoulder.

It's the same offensive line the Giants played with last year - plus Flowers is not playing with a high ankle sprain.
Needs to go.... He Just does not have it... We can't run the ball! Brad wing is a stud... T. King better make this roster, he's a baller...Osawa DE continues to impress... Did I say Nassib needs to go?
Bad: starting Oline, TE run blocking - can't execute offense without it.
Good: starting D again was pretty good, OV sets the tone for that D....Collins good, Apple looked good, LBers played ok.....JT Thomas and Sheppard both looked decent, as well......interior Dline starters are solid and will also make a big difference, but we have to get teams off the field on 3rd down.
Average: Special Teams were up and down......
With that said I'm not worried about Eli, only the ability of the Oline to block for him.

Nassib is not going anywhere. That's a non-starter.
How to you evaluate the young offenssive RB and WR?

he did it last year and threw for 4400 yards and 35 tds and 14ints..
why cant he do it last year and do you forget how terrible the offensive line was in 2011?

I'm more worried with Eli clearly not trusting his protection; resulting in shoddy footwork and inaccuracies in the short dump offs in particular.
I know Nassibs not going anywhere but I think we have to realize this kid is not very good and there are better options out there... Every ball he throws is a rocket, doesn't throw with any "touch" if you will....
But the game thread seem to indicate that the play calling was run heavy. If that was true it seems that the plan was to work on the run game. Not necessarily a bad plan to work on a problem area in the preseason. Would have been nice to see a little success!

That does seem to have been the mission, but I don't think much was fixed or accomplished.
Going up against decker. This guy is going to be a stud
Agreed and he was suppose to be the questionable draft pick. LOL, kudos to Sy. He did a great job on his entire breakdown. This kid can start opening day. Decker was absolutely frustrated with him.

it almosted seemed like mcadoo had 15 plays on his call sheet and stuck to those 15 plays..
it was a lot of run run pass regardless of what the defense was showing..
people have to remember eli is not doing much audibling and changing the play in preaseason...
with a week of preperation and film work he will have more freedom and more understand of the defense he is playing against to make those changes...
that is the biggest thing in oreseason amd why people call it vanilla

Jennings actually caught passes!
I think the giants certainly worked running backs to the outside, it seemed... maybe check downs because of bad pass protection tho.
USA! USA!
Are OBJ and Shepard even alive?

Yeah... good job D

Now it is totally reversed for me.... Its preseason.

We know nothing until week 1.
But it was nice to see some Big Blue defense! Also, great to see VC on the field. Love me some Victah Cruz!

Wilkerson might as well have been wearing one of our jerseys.
just sick that we had the chance to sign several LTs....I know I will get a bunch of you jump on me.....but this is squarely on Reese.

Reese should get excoriated for not upgrading the OL.
They do have an excellent offensive line, but what was the excuse last week against mostly backups for Bufallo?
Yes.

Another stupid non-starter. The Giants are only going to carry nine offensive linemen. You think they are going to cut their starting five?

spags can be very creative with his blitzes because they right now have 4 good corners
