WR Tavarres King

Postgame at Jets, August 27, 2016

Q: What about the first touchdown? You got behind him?

A: Yes, great play call. We just took a shot right there. Great protection up front, great ball by Ryan. Roger (Lewis) did a great job taking the safety out of there. I just executed on my route, Ryan put the ball where it needed to be and we got six.

Q: Can you talk a little bit about the second one?

A: I had a little out, caught it and saw the red sea open.

Q: What do you think about the body of work you’re putting in so far this preseason? You’re having a pretty impressive go so far?

A: My emphasis was just stacking good days from day one. I’ve done that since OTA’s just kept stacking good days, being positive every day. It’s paid off.

Q: What do you think has been a good fit to this system for you?

A: Really just the coaches. They do a great job of putting us in the right positions to make plays. I feel like you see that with everyone.

Q: How does it feel to have all the work that you put in in camp and the offseason come to fruition in this game with you getting in the end zone? How does that feel inside and what are you feeling?

A: It feels great. It’s indescribable. I kind of didn’t know what to do when I got in the end zone. I was excited. Excited for my team, excited we got some points on the board and excited we got a good team win. It was awesome.

Q: What message do you feel you sent to the decision makers as far as your place on this roster?

A: I’m a guy that wants to win. I want to compete and be out there. I want to help this team anyway that I can and I feel like I’ve shown that.

Q: Being here last year, the things you were able to see and do in practice, be in the meeting rooms, does that help?

A: Certainly. Anytime you’re in there, you know what’s going on and you have a feel for things.

Q: Coach said right from the beginning of training camp that you looked like and acted like you feel that you belong here. Do you think you’ve done enough at this point?

A: That’s not up to me to decide. I’m going to continue to be me. I’m going to continue to be Tavarres and I’m going to continue to be someone that’s hungry. Not only to be on this team but to bring this team a championship.

Q: How important was it for you to transfer the type of plays you were making in practice on the field against an opponent in preseason?

A: It’s extremely important. These are things that matter, right? For me to get an opportunity, for the coaches to believe in me, Ryan, my teammates, to believe in me to give me the opportunity to make a play like that, it’s tremendous. It means a lot.
