Potential TE Cut: David Morgan, Vikings

Boy Cord : 8/28/2016 4:10 pm
Briefly listened to the Vikings game on NFL Radio while in the car. Announcers spoke very highly of David Morgan as a blocking TE. They don't think there is room for him on the Vikings roster and that he most likely will not make it to their PS. Morgan is a rookie out of UT San Antonio.

We don't need to add a tight end.

The issue is that our two best blockers are hurt and raw, respectively.

If only the coaches will allow them to usurp Donnell.
I'd be suprised if they cut him.

On Ourlands he is listed in the Viking depth chart as the 3rd TE among 6. In preseason he has been their top receiving TE with 3 receptions and 2 first downs. He had a good combine though a little slow on the 40 but his pro day results were better with a 4.83 40. He is definitely known for his blocking skills. PFF had him as the best run blocking TE in the FBS. Definitely worth a look if cut.
Donnell

has taken the place of Rueben Randle on my dog list

Not worried about dogs. A new broom sweeps clean and we haven't hit cut-down date yet.

Pick 53 and go to war!

He's the BBI whipping boy (thought he blocked well in game 1 and wasn't horrible yesterday. That distinction was for fanboy Tye.
Not Impressed with Tye .....

If a Blocking TE cuts loose we need to snag him , I
would trade Tye in a nano second for a half decent
O-lineman .... We have enough pass catchers our run
blocking stinks and virtually nothing in the way of
backups .
I would take him over Donnell

in a heartbeat.
We do not have
redwhiteandbigblue : 8/28/2016 10:01 pm : link
a single TE on this team that is a bona fide starter on an NFL team. People are divided here as to their feelings about Reese, but the lack of focus on obtaining a quality pass catching and blocking TE (especially with a shaky O-Line) is unfathomable to me. Especially with a McAdoo offense.

Adams could be that guy but he's very raw and buried on the depth chart. I'd expect the team has bigger things planned for him in 2017. I think for now, we're stuck with the frustrating highs and lows of Tye/Donnell.
Mostly lows.

😭😭😭
We aren't cutting Donnell

Come on. It's too late in the game to bring another guy up to speed on his floor routine...

I think our own beloved Sy

was very high on Morgan. Would be great to add to our O even for future reference, not just to block tomorrow. But I think the line of NFL practice squad reps would be a mile long to sign him up.
