Here's a note for anyone looking for reason to convert to the half full camp. We know how secretive McAdoo has been about who is going to be the play caller. Right or wrong, he feels for this one season he has an advantage of teams not knowing how to prepare for play calling tendencies. Logically a guy going to this length to conceal the name of the man calling plays is not going to come out and showcase it all in front of the country. We aren't going to see the true offense until they take the field with Dallas.
My personal opinion is that Ben McAdoo would never have tried as many rushing attempts in the first half against this opponent in a real game. The match-ups did not favor the Giants being able to run the ball. The Giants also oddly ran some plays that called on their tight ends to handle the Jets elite defensive ends. That’s just not going to work.
I had some of that feeling too. They were running some plays on 3rd down that had absolutely ZERO chance of making a first down. Or Eli was audibling to them. You would have had to have been a rank amateur to be calling some of those plays. And we know MacAdoo isn't that. I don't know what the point was, but it sure wasn't to make the offense shine or succeed.
That said, it would have been nice to see the OL do SOME blocking.
anyone else notice eli never changed the protection Â
Obviously, the OL needs to improve run blocking. But, in the preseason, the Giants have gotten zero help from the starting TEs. I wonder if McAdoo is giving Donnell all the chances in the world to demonstrate that he can give something to the OL to assist the run game and Donnell has failed miserably. I don't remember over the past few years thinking he was that bad.
Again, I never liked, and still don't like that certain assistants were retained. What the fuck is so special about Quinn? I believe in the HC being allowed to pick his own assistants. I was against retaining Spags, but I have to say that he is getting results form the improved talent. Quinn isn't. With better talent as S, CB, LB, STs should be improving.
how annoying was Greg Butthead on that broadcast? Â

The special teams were good last year. If they have players the unit will be fine. If they dont they'll suck.
I got the sense that Ben McAdoo wasn’t showing his hand.
I have had that thought a lot lately. It was clear that McAdoo was working on running concepts in this game. I have heard him talk about "getting some things on tape", and wondered exactly what he means by that. Obviously they watch their own tape, but he might primarily be talking about putting things on tape for our upcoming opponents to look at. Pugh's comments in his interview BB'56 shared today clearly pointed to keeping a veiled hand as well. I'm convinced that what we're seeing here is both work on the areas we need to improve on (running game - implying that the coaches feel good about the passing game), and a desire to hide tendencies and strong plays from opponents.

Anyway - good job with the review.
Great post! For those panicking, our defense looks great in in the preseason games, but our offense has been playing well against them in practice.

Uber - Wow! Eric was so on target in that review it's scary
My main take away from that - the running game is still a big problem for the Giants - but there is hope just about everywhere else

Offense has been the strength of the team the past few years
we have the same or better players as the past few years at skill positions
and we didn't lose the Offensive coordinator we promoted him
I just can't believe that Offense is not going to pull it together
I think you mean two of his six completions. Or did he go 4-of-19?
