Did a draft yesterday for my 10 team non ppr. Had the 4th pick
start 2 rb/2wr/1flex
QB Brees, Rivers
RB Charles, Murray, Gordon, Ivory, Ware
WR Julio, Jeffrey, Fitzgerald, Benjamin
TE Eifert, Clay (weak at TE I know)
DEF Arizona
K Boswwll

Yahoo has declared me "winner of the draft" but that mean crap. Football guys website stays I have a 99 % chance to make the playoffs. But that also means crap. I think that I have a solid team with a good chance to make the playoffs.

Woodhead is consistently underrated year in year out. He's currently listed as the 25th best RB for most leagues yet in a 1/2 PPR league last season he finished 8th in points scored among RBs and he was even better in full PPR. And what's good about Woodhead is he puts up pts every week. He's not boom or bust although he did have one monster game last year that pumped his stats.

I think there are a few reasons for that. The OC that made him such a focal point is now with the Eagles (see Sproles), many are expecting Gordon to take a big step forward, and the Chargers got their #1WR back so that may mean less targets for DW.
exactly
djm : 8/29/2016 10:52 am : link
that's my point. Examine the player not the situation. Everywhere Woodhead plays he gets his. Every year, even on the Pats early on.

If Woodhead DOESN'T catch 70 passes or so it will be the exception. HE's gonna get his and Melvin Gordon won't change that. Gordon kinda blows by the way, until proven otherwise.

I'll continue to take Woodhead every year, late. Thanks!
My draft is tonight
Fish : 8/29/2016 10:53 am : link
And just realized cbs didn't send me the draft board and stickers. Anyone else have same issue?
i'd definitely take Woodhead
UConn4523 : 8/29/2016 10:54 am : link
as my RB2 in a .5 PPR. He has too much value, they are always behind and he's always open in dump offs.
now if Rivers had left San Diego?
djm : 8/29/2016 10:55 am : link
Then i'd agree. But it isn't the OC as much as it's the QB. Rivers loves Woodhead and he should love Woodhead. The guy's as reliable a scat back as you're gonna find. QBs love that kind of a player.

Woodhead will once again finish top 10 unless he's hurt. IT's a virtual lock.
take Woodhead in round 4-5 and consider yourself lucky
djm : 8/29/2016 10:56 am : link

I got Woodhead in the 8th round.

Yeah I have nothing against Woodhead
leatherneck570 : 8/29/2016 11:06 am : link
He's going in the 4th in a full PPR currently and a little later in a half point. I think that's probably about right. The thing about rankings is you don't see how close they are in value compared to the players that go before. In some cases the projected point difference between 5 players maybe a tenth of a point.
I feel like I sorta shit the bed (except for WR)
Motley Two : 8/29/2016 11:18 am : link

.5 PPR / 12 Team League

Eli Manning
Matt Ryan

AJ Green
Brandin Cooks
Dez Bryant
Alshon Jeffery
Sterling Shepard
Josh Doctson

Carlos Hyde
Giovanni Bernard
Jeremy Hill
Shane Vareen
Darren Sproles

Austin Sefarian-Jenkins
Larry Donnell

Mason Crosby

Minny Defense
NYG Defense

I think the only thing that might save me is being able to play up to 4 WRs and only having to play 2 RBs due to the way our flex spots are set up.

Metnut : 8/29/2016 11:21 am : link
draft last night in a 12 team 0.5 PPR league. 4pts per passing TD. Start 3 WRs and a W/R/T flex also.

I think I might have neglected RB too much but I didn't want to pass up on some good WRs. I ended up with:

QB: Manning/Ryan
RB: Forte/Foster/Riddick/Sproles/Procise
WR: Julio Jones/Mike Evans/Cooper/Michael Floyd/Pryor
TE: Fleener/Eifert
Def: NYG

Yeah, I felt the same way for mine. My league sounds just like yours, but we get 6 for passing TDs

Even better. I took him late round 5. I possibly could have waited until round 6 but there were 2 teams ahead of me that only had 1 RB at the time so I didn't take any chances. Plus I already had 3 starting WRs at this point and Woodhead was the value pick there.
Any thoughts
kash94 : 8/29/2016 11:32 am : link
on Elliot vs Miller? Originally I was trying to avoid Elliot at all costs but he seems to be hitting on all cylinders
My concerns w/ Elliot
kash94 : 8/29/2016 11:33 am : link
are his minor injuries, Morris taking goal line opportunities, and of course, the fact he's a rookie. But now with Romo out he should get at least 300 touches right?

Woodhead was 3rd overall RB in PPR leagues last year and 10th in average points per game. To your point he's half a point per game ahead of #11, but almost 3 ppg ahead of #20. and he's shown to be durable enough only playing less than 15 games once the past 6 years.

I like him a lot, but he went before I was able to get him in my PPR league. And he should, he's better than comparable-round backs and even some going before him.
I like Woodhead but I feel
robbieballs2003 : 8/29/2016 12:14 pm : link
He is going to slow down at some point. I disagree with him being consistent. I see a lot of single digit games from him. So, he will probably still be effective but it looks like they changed up the offense to better fit Gordon and he has looked pretty great so far. I am not down on Woodhead but I do think his numbers decline.

On the other hand, I like Riddick. He is in the same mold as Woodhead but his arrow is pointing up and Abdullah hasn't shown much so I expect Detroit to use Riddick a ton. And you can get Riddick much later in drafts.
Has Semien (or however you spell his name)
giantsfan44ab : 8/29/2016 12:18 pm : link
being named the Denver starting QB scared you off the receivers (and RBs to an extent)? It's gonna be unpopular opinion on here i gues but I was pretty comfortable with Mark Sanchez as the starter. He was solid in philly the last two years and was good in NY when he had good receivers and runners around him.

Even though Siemian may have been good in preseason I'm still not convinced he's any better than Sanchez and the floor is much lower in my view. I'm not one to question Kubiak's knowledge of the QB competition but does it feel to anyone else that they are going with Siemian because he is more of an "unknown commodity" more than anything else?

IMO, I like it. I have liked what I have seen from him. Look at the QB play from that team last season. It was pathetic. I doubt Siemian is worst. Thomas still put up 105, 1304, and 4 last year. I see no reason why he will not touch those numbers again. Maybe the catches and yards drop a little but his TDs should increase a lot.

and was happy to take Gronk and the Pats team QB back to back.

Still ended up with a solid roster for PPR. was able to get Landry and Sammy Watkins and in the 3rd and 4th and then Doug Martin in the 5th! Emmanuel Sanders lasted until the 8th and I got Woodhead in the 10th.

robbieballs2003 : 8/29/2016 12:24 pm : link
Sanchez hasn't played so he made this decision easy. The way I look at it is if you like Sanchez then this only helps you out. If Siemian is great then awesome. If not then Sanchez will play.
I had two 12-team, non-PPR drafts yesterday.
Mr. Bungle : 8/29/2016 12:25 pm : link
Running backs were flying off the boards in the first three rounds. WRs were largely being ignored.

It sucked because I was in the 10 and 11 positions respectively. I really wanted to have somewhat reliable RBs, so I had to reach a bit with my early picks.

I was as down on Peyton as anybody last season but if you try projecting his numbers over 16 games he was still on pace to throw for around 4500 yards. Osweiler would've gotten around 4000 as well. I don't think this is the same exact offense they will be stepping into, they lost some linemen. And I think Denver was not only one of the best defenses in history but also were tops in takeaways. The defense lost a ton of talent as well.

Denver really wasn't as run heavy as people make it out to be last year and if there's going to be a change in favor of a run first offense, which many signs point to this year, then I'm probably going to avoid Dtom and Sanders at their current ADP.

We don't pick..

individual QB's in that league. You get the team stats. So even if Brady leaves a game, you accumulate the backup's stats too. If Brady doesn't start or is suspended, you get the replacement's points.

Who do you guys like more.. Cousins or Carr?

I snagged Brady nice and late which I was thrilled about but I have to obviously fill the void the first 4 weeks. I tried to be as objective as possible given that I hate the Redskins and think Cousins is a herb. But I took him anyway. I actually think he will be a pretty good FF QB this year.. I also have Reed so there's that.

Carr went undrafted. I could probably swap them if I really wanted to when the FA pool opens up in a couple days but my gut just felt like Cousins was the better option.

I don't think there's much of a difference. Just like Carr's value more but not necessarily better for fantasy. I guess you just have to see which one has a better first 4 games in terms of strength of schedule.

This is why I stream. I'd just pick up and play whoever had the more favorable match up that week. I pick up and drop QB's like it's cool.
I think the last stat I read mentioned
leatherneck570 : 8/29/2016 1:11 pm : link
there was something like 30 different QB's with a top 10 finish last year. May times it is just match up dependent. There is a large group of guys outside the top 3 that I'll just wait and see who is left at the end of the draft and switch between them unless one catches fire (Palmer last year).

pjcas18 : 8/29/2016 1:36 pm : link
12-team ppr, QB's get 6pts per TD (I know I've posted my team 100 times, but it helps with trade eval) - QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, 2 flex (so I can start 4 WR's no TE mandatory)

I'm considering it, leaning no, but want others opinions, because it probably makes me better.

QB: Romo (gone), Prescott, Osweiler, RG3
RB: Gurley, Abdullah, Starks, D. Washington, K.Barner
WR: Beckham, Watkins, Landry, Cooper, M. Jones, D. Funchess, M. Thomas, V. Cruz

I trade Amari Cooper for Matthew Stafford and Arian Foster

Not a bad draft. Seems I may have done something similar, though not too sure on going Julio (just me personally) at #4. Still who knows, he's a WR1 in any league.

On TE, I didn't even bother drafting one until last round. For the last few years I've found guys on waivers like Barnidge. Rolling the dice on that sleeper 49ers TE Vance McDonald for now.

My draft from last night
giantgiantfan : 8/29/2016 3:43 pm : link
12 team PPR, picked 8th:

QB: Eli Manning (6th)
RB: Gurley (1st), Gordon (5th), Foster (7th), R.Jennings (8th), C.Michael (10th)
WR: Allen Robinson (2nd), Mike Evans (3rd), Amari Cooper (4th), A.Hurns (9th), M.Thomas (11th), T.Benjamin(12th), Cruz (13th)
TE: Vance McDonald (14th)
K: Catanzaro
D: Giants

Typical draft for me outside of not grabbing a QB2, but I figure Eli is Mr. durable and I'll find a guy playing well on waivers. Other than that I never draft a TE till the end and load up on WR/RBs.

I know right, a mix of okay players and fools. Aaron Rodgers went in the first round. Just a $20 buy-in, I'll take the money though. No way any of my first 4 should've been available where I grabbed them.

I'd say I'd rather have 14 then just about any other spot. There's a big drop around 45 and you'll get 4 of those guys. Don't be afraid to start the runs on QB/TE as opposed to missing them.
