Did a draft yesterday for my 10 team non ppr. Had the 4th pick
start 2 rb/2wr/1flex
QB Brees, Rivers
RB Charles, Murray, Gordon, Ivory, Ware
WR Julio, Jeffrey, Fitzgerald, Benjamin
TE Eifert, Clay (weak at TE I know)
DEF Arizona
K Boswwll

Yahoo has declared me "winner of the draft" but that mean crap. Football guys website stays I have a 99 % chance to make the playoffs. But that also means crap. I think that I have a solid team with a good chance to make the playoffs.

The one with 1 point for 10 yards passing, it may have been better to get a QB earlier but we will see what Eli does this year.

THat is stacked. Did you draft with morons?
Got my 10 team 0.5 PPR draft this week
Mr Brightside : 8/29/2016 8:40 am : link
Going WR-WR first 2 rounds the looking for a RB early third. How would you rank this group...Martin, Ingram, Lacy, Charles, McCoy?
I had a draft last night. My wife just entered the league.
robbieballs2003 : 8/29/2016 8:41 am : link
It is a 12 team PPR league. We start 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 FL, 1 K, 1 D. We keep between 2 and 4 players.

My team:

Cam (keeper)
Fitz

David Johnson (keeper)
Forte
Foster
D. Williams
Theo Riddick

Nelson (Keeper)
D. Thomas (Keeper)
Gordon
Funchess
C. Coleman
T. Sharpe

Ertz

Bailey

Giants

Her Team:

Wilson (Keeper)
Tannehill

Lacy
Hyde
Hill
Forsett
Crowell
Henry

Dez (keeper)
Marshall
K. Benjamin
Parker
White

Eifert

Gano

Vikings

I think she totally transformed that team.

All those RBs could be gone depending on where you draft.
I also "helped" with my wifes work draft. 12 team non ppr
superspynyg : 8/29/2016 8:44 am : link
qbs get 3 pts for td's. had the 11th pick. Start 2rb,2wr,1flex

Qb Brees, Rivers
RB Charles, Stewart, Hyde, Ware West
WR Green, Moncrief, Marvin Jones, Will Fuller
TE Thomas, Witten
DEF Carolina
K Tucker

Not bad. Some crazy things in this draft. Guy took Giants kicker brown in rd 8. Gimmy Graham went rd 6. McCoy went rd 1.

In a 10 team with .5 ppr I would go
Charles,McCoy,Martin,Lacy,Ingram
I liked Hyde entering this year
robbieballs2003 : 8/29/2016 8:48 am : link
then he got the concussion and I wasn't going to draft him. Then in the last two drafts he fell to like the 7th round. At that point I think he is worth the risk. He was going anywhere in the 3rd to 4th round before the concussion.
Green's injury isn't serious right?
UConn4523 : 8/29/2016 8:49 am : link
this is the first year in a while we won't know our pick until an hour before the draft so I need to prep who to take if I get a pick from 7-12.

I have seen some crazy stuff in drafts like Julio dropping until the 9th pick. If DJ is there I would take him. Just off the top of my head my top 7 would be:

Brown
Beckham
DJ
Julio
Gurley
Green (assuming he is okay)
Hopkins
AP

Elliot would be some time shortly after. If you pick in the back of the round I find my teams turn out better overall when I get a RB and WR in any order. This is using CBS. Their rankings are weird so you can get really nice receivers in the 3rd and 4th round like Cooper, Evans, Landry, D. Thomas, Cobb, and someone else I cannot remember. The RBs available are sketchy at best.
I went into this season
UConn4523 : 8/29/2016 8:58 am : link
really wanting a top 5 pick which I usually never want, but I'm starting to find a ton of value again in the back half. You really do make out better with that 2nd pick who can still be a 1st round talent.
And I didn't even know Green was hurt.
robbieballs2003 : 8/29/2016 8:58 am : link
There is not enough information out. Just opinion that says it isn't serious. I have heard that before where the results came back and there was something wrong.

I don't know if he provides any run after the catch ability but he seems like a nice security blanket for Big Ben. I like him. He is going undrafted which is why I have only one TE on my rosters. I can pick up another one later. Unless you are getting 2 stud TEs I do not see the need for an average or unproven backup on your roster. I have a league with 17 roster spots and there are some decent TEs out there but nobody I want taking up a roster spot right now. I would rather draft some WRs and RBs and let them sort of separate themselves first before I know who I want to drop for an extra TE/K/D.

either sites rankings but hope everyone else in the league does. Yahoo! is our in person draft and I have a good idea of how each manager makes picks. The ESPN one I have no idea so it will be BPA all the way using a mixture of draft rankings most likely.

It isn't that I go by their rankings but when other owners are searching for players they are much more likely to go with a player at the top of the lis than further down. CBS has Landry, D. Thomas, Cobb, etc. as 4th round players so most owners do not scroll down that far to see them.

Yeah that could come into play for the ESPN one, but the live in person draft will come down to a mish mash of people who make their own rankings, bring a magazine (awful), or print out Walter Football's top 200 or whatever.

We usually pick to pick but that got voted down this year so we won't know until day of. I don't mind because I'll have a strategy either way, but it does make the week leading up to it a bit more tedious since I can't prep 1 specific pick.
Had my draft last night...
arcarsenal : 8/29/2016 9:32 am : link
It was one of those drafts where on about 3-4 different occasions, a player I really wanted got snaked the pick before me and one of the times it happened, I really had no backup plan and kind of scrambled (which is where I wound up with Ivory)

I don't love it but I think I'll be okay. 10 team PPR

Brady, Cousins
McCoy, Forte, Mathews, Ivory, Sims
Julio, Evans, MJonesJr, Snead, Smith Sr, Boyd
Reed, Eifert
K
NYG D/ST
I was set at taking WR rounds 1 & 2 but not so sure now.

If I'm at 4 and Brown, Beckham, and JJ are gone am I okay taking Hopkins or Green at 4 or should I grab AP, Gurley, or DJ?

26.2 : 8/29/2016 10:01 am : link
10 team .5 ppr. draft the other day. 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 WR/RB start. I had the 8th pick:

QB - Eli, Carr
RB - Freeman, Forte, Blount, Coleman and Powell (This is where I'm weakest. Grabbed coleman and powell as insurance)
WR - Green, Jeffrey, Tate, E Sanders, S. Diggs
TE - Julius Thomas, M. Bennett
DST - Arizona
K - Crosby

Its not terrible compared to all the other teams, but I have a feeling I'm going to have to get very lucky with some of these guys.

You're hurting your chances of success by showing bias. All's fair in love and war in my opinion. Now, if I am torn on two players and one of them plays for Dallas? I take the other guy of course. But if you have a guy sitting there that is better than the alternative, you better take him.

I actually can't remember the last time I did either (not counting kicker). I drafted McCoy #1 overall one year but flipped him for megatron and AJ straight up before the season even started. I might've picked up Bradshaw in 2011 and i picked up cousins this past year for a few weeks I think.

Took Reed @ 4.8 and then got Eifert in the 14th. Felt like it was a good way to hedge. Reed probably won't play 16 games but if he can just make it to the point when Eifert gets back, I will have a legit contingency plan. End of 4th was basically the spot where I went into the draft thinking I'd probably take Reed if he was there.. to me, he was the best player on the board at that point value-wise.

Weak TE's but loaded at RB and elite QB. Solid group of WR's as well. I like it.
I did my 10 team 1/2 PPR league yesterday
djm : 8/29/2016 10:21 am : link
we also draft defensive players and you can draft them at any point in the draft. For perspective, the best def player last year was Watt. He scored around 90 pts in our league. That's the same scoring output as a mediocre backup RB or WR so while you definitely want good defensive players you don't want to draft them too early. It's simply not worth it, but players in my league continue to reach for them starting in round 7 or so. I always wait and have consistently fielded good defensive teams annually.

I always wait on the QB and TE unless a guy like Olsen or Gronk somehow slips to round 4 or so, which never happens.

I picked 7th, and was very happy to do so. We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE and kicker + DST. I figured i'd get a beast WR early and a bell cow RB early no matter how things shook out. Turns out I was right:

QBs Eli and Cutler (rounds 10 and beyond)
RB David Johnson (7th overall)
RB Woodhead (round 5)
Backup RBs (Billal Powell, Forsett and Christine Michael)
WR Hopkins (2nd round)
WR Cooks (3rd round)
WR Doug Baldwin (4th round)
backup WRs (Crabtree, Marvin Jones and Tajea Sharpe)
TE Zack Ertz and Jenkins (Tampa)
Kicker who the hell cares (Gould)
DTS - Steelers and Pats (both top 7 last year)

My defensive players are just fine. Everyone healthy and coming off top 5-10 seasons. My DBs were top 1 and 3 respectively.

While the run on QBs was ongoing I was loading up on WR and RB. Then people started going IDP crazy in the latter rounds and I loaded up on my WR and RB depth. I think I killed it. More so this year than last year. We shall see. I drafted Christine Michael somewhere in the 20s how I got him that late I will never know. He's the #1 RB in Seattle right now. I don't care if he doesn't play a snap, that's a steal.

Am I crazy or is my team stacked?

I should also add that passing touchdowns for qb's are 6 points instead of the usual 4 points. It's why I went for Rodgers early instead of waiting on qb.

Smart.
rankings are so weird
djm : 8/29/2016 10:44 am : link
Woodhead is consistently underrated year in year out. He's currently listed as the 25th best RB for most leagues yet in a 1/2 PPR league last season he finished 8th in points scored among RBs and he was even better in full PPR. And what's good about Woodhead is he puts up pts every week. He's not boom or bust although he did have one monster game last year that pumped his stats.

I think there are a few reasons for that. The OC that made him such a focal point is now with the Eagles (see Sproles), many are expecting Gordon to take a big step forward, and the Chargers got their #1WR back so that may mean less targets for DW.
exactly
djm : 8/29/2016 10:52 am : link
that's my point. Examine the player not the situation. Everywhere Woodhead plays he gets his. Every year, even on the Pats early on.

If Woodhead DOESN'T catch 70 passes or so it will be the exception. HE's gonna get his and Melvin Gordon won't change that. Gordon kinda blows by the way, until proven otherwise.

I'll continue to take Woodhead every year, late. Thanks!
My draft is tonight
Fish : 8/29/2016 10:53 am : link
And just realized cbs didn't send me the draft board and stickers. Anyone else have same issue?
i'd definitely take Woodhead
UConn4523 : 8/29/2016 10:54 am : link
as my RB2 in a .5 PPR. He has too much value, they are always behind and he's always open in dump offs.
now if Rivers had left San Diego?
djm : 8/29/2016 10:55 am : link
Then i'd agree. But it isn't the OC as much as it's the QB. Rivers loves Woodhead and he should love Woodhead. The guy's as reliable a scat back as you're gonna find. QBs love that kind of a player.

Woodhead will once again finish top 10 unless he's hurt. IT's a virtual lock.
take Woodhead in round 4-5 and consider yourself lucky
