Have been listening to a lot of NFL radio on Sirius plus reading a bunch and basically most seem to be leaning to the fact Romo's career is finished basically because this latest injury is so serious and combined with his already known back troubles that he is endangering his post-career life if he plays again.
I'm not a doctor but the compressed fracture he has now could lead to paralysis if he does not allow it to completely heal and then basically stop playing football.
Not sure what anyone else feels but even though he is a Cowgirl, one hates to see a really good player's career end not on his own terms.
I think he'll come back and play a handful of games over the next season or two before hanging them up.
There is an air of irrational fear over that team here.
I think Romo is done if he knows what's good for him.
Not a golfer, so I ask, would his back hold up?
I kind of feel for the guy even though he is a Cowboy.
Romo would have a hard time making the tour and that's before this new injury.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! God I hope he's done.....that'd be awesome!
He should retire if he's smart.
He should retire if he's smart.
Because of the cap situation, the Cowboys would probably love it if he retires, or if they could reach an injury settlement. Personally, i'd love it if he hung around to be the highest paid backup. That would screw with their cap space for the next couple of years.
If he is released next year they will save $5m on the cap and have $19m in dead money. No big deal.
Yes, for the most part his career is coming to an end.
Yeah right.
He belongs with Unitas, Warner and Moon.
All great free agent quarterbacks.
I don't think he is even considering retiring. Probably the farthest thing from his mind.
If he continues to be injury prone I'd imagine the Cowboys cut him in 2018 and eat the $8.9 million as it still frees up another $10 million. That gives them time to see what they have in Dak and see if Romo can string together a full season in 2017.

He's not a Met superhero of yours so save the hype
Give him credit for an unlikely career as an undrafted QB becoming a long term NFL starter. But I never thought he was that great, certainly not as great as the choir singing "Romo is back, Dallas runs the table" every year. He's a competent, average NFL QB with a penchant for gagging it up with the money on the table.
his legacy right now is that of a guy who did well in the regular season but could not get the job done consistently in the playoffs. and that's not the legacy any quarterback worth their salt wants to leave.
that being said, I have no idea whether he can still play at a high level or if the cumulative effect of his injuries and the physical/psychological impact combined with his age will curb his performance.
