I'm not worried about the OL relative to the people already saying Reese should be fired before 2016 even starts...
That said, drafting an OT in the top 3 rounds next year bodes well to me, but I'm not worried yet about the offense as a whole.
And that combined with what seems like a real defense this year, I'm looking forward to Dallas week 1 with a rookie QB being throw to the wolves (aka JPP and OV)...
Not anymore than most teams would if faced with a similar dilemma..
Obviously losing one of the potential pro bowlers on the line doesn't spell good things, but you could just as easily worry about losing Eli and you'd be wrong to for the same reasons.
There's no reason to assume injury at this point in time.
That would tell me expect it to be a bit sloppy for a bit but I don't think by say week 2 we should expect anything less than last year.
That said I've been vocal that Reese hasn't done enough on the right side which will make it very difficult for this offense to realize it's elite potential.
Despite impressive statistical results in yards and points scored the 2015 Giants offense struggled significantly playing winning situational football. That includes an abysmal running attack in most categories, mediocre time of possession and surprisingly poor 3rd down conversion rates. All of these point directly to the soft nature of our O-line.
1. Pugh has not played
2. Offensive game plan's have not been installed
3. The repair and rebuild of the roster wasn't going to happen overnight and the bigger issue, the defense, was addressed first.
4. The opportunity to add players cut still exists.
5. This was the line on a top 10 ranked offense in 2015
Again, I'm not saying you shouldn't be concerned, but it's too early to be panicking.
Isn't that almost always the case on here? How many posts start with, "I know it's only preseason, but....?"

where we talked about the time it may take for vets and rookies alike to learn a new system has been forgotten by most people.

This season more so, there is a new OL coach have to expect a bit of work in progress i think.
This is kinda how I feel. If they look like shit against Dallas then they will have regressed.
1) The lack of depth. These guys are in the trenches every play. We already see the impact of Pugh being out for two weeks.
2) The complete lack of any viable blocking help from TEs.
3) The lack of a RB that can make things happen on his own now and then. Not exactly pumped with the blocking from this group either.
I think their RBs are fine. They just need some consistent blocking.

Adams can be the answer for that if we're lucky. That kid is physical.

What are you talking about?
Did you miss the Will Johnson signing?

In Dallas, the big worry is that because of the losses on the defensive line, they have no clue how they are going to stop the run.
Luckily for them, they get the Giants on Opening Day.
I think it will be very telling if our starting group cannot take control at the line of scrimmage against the Cowboys 2nd string d-lineman and get a serious ground game going and give Eli the time needed to throw to win this game down there.

of Pugh or Richburg gets hurt there isnt a viable option to replace either in what is already a shaky offensive line dating back the last two years?

Well thats just ridiculous if you aren't. One of those two go down and we are fuckanucked.
I think next draft is the first draft in a while where we can actually draft players that create depth.

...they've gone against two of the top defensive fronts in the NFL in Buffalo and the Jets. That can cause problems for anyone.

Not gonna freak out but I agree with what you said the
stats are somewhat misleading but with looks to be
a 180 on Defense we could see a lot more scoring opportunities in terms of more possessions and scoring
chances , Question remains can we compete with the
top defenses . I really find it hard to believe that
they are content with the current roster I think
we have to come away with a few vets to upgrade the
O-line no reason to piss another season away with our
Aging Star QB
I have good news, Eli gets the ball out extremely fast and has more weapons now. We're going to be fine even with a trash running game.
Chuck Norris refuses to be in the same room with John Jerry.

But... it is a major concern. I'm actually OK with the starting 5, and I think we'll see improvement as they become more and more familiar with Solari. And the concern stems primarily from these three factors:
1) The lack of depth. These guys are in the trenches every play. We already see the impact of Pugh being out for two weeks.
2) The complete lack of any viable blocking help from TEs.
3) The lack of a RB that can make things happen on his own now and then. Not exactly pumped with the blocking from this group either.

Granted. Good signing but he has been hurt and really is still an unknown cog in the offense.
* 6th scoring
* 7th passing yds
* 8th total yds
* 18th rushing yds
with this same offensive line.
Consider, too, that Flowers (granted, not All-Pro when healthy) played hurt last year and that we now have a TE (Jerell Adams) who knows how to block. I'm not worried about the offense. And the defense will be a whole lot better. I am looking forward to this season.

but weren't defenses like Carolina asleep up 35-7 and New Orleans just incompetent? Were they really that great?
27th in short yardage efficiency
22nd in 3rd down efficiency
As always you can cherry pick stats to skew perception. When you look at the whole picture including stats that speak to playing successful situational offensive football it becomes clear the Giants were a flawed unit in 2015. Those flaws are directly attributable to soft offensive line play.
