T.J. Rivera has been demoted to clear the roster spot for Rafael Montero's spot start on Monday against the Marlins. Las Vegas' season ends next Monday, so at a maximum the demotion should last a week - Rubin
Been called up easily in time for next start after rosters expand? What rationale could they have to keep him here instead of Rivera? Sandy should be smarter than that so I must be missing something. Does the rule about not being able to call someone up after demotion except for injury apply even when the rosters expand?
The beat writers are saying that Gsellman is going to the BP and some have indicated they can't understand why TJ sent down. Example ...
Michael Mayer
Sending Rivera down instead of a guy who won't be available to pitch for a few days was dumb
And now you have a pitcher pinch hit. Sandy hamstringing the manager again. I thought he was the adult in the room.

Most the guys on the bench are day to day. Do you really want to lose Walker or Cabrera for 15 days? I know I dont. And do you think he should save Bruce for the late innings in a tie game or use him in the fifth?

What?
The discussion was about sending down a viable bat instead of a pitcher that can't pitch right now and who would be recalled in two days.
T.J. Rivera I guess that's fine but supposedly they feel Gsellman can move to the pen pretty quick. As for the rest of the bench, there wasn't a lot of options.
last night. Monetro has major league stuff and will have an MLB career if he can get his control back. His changeup is a really nice pitch that can get big league hitters out. Cespedes HR feels like the first really good moment we've had in a while.
Mets should send Montero down and bring Conforto up. Granderson and Bruce (especially Bruce) aren't contributing much. Conforto has the highest upside of the 3 and should have his confidence back after the AAA stint. Let's get our best players on the field.
Randomly, I thought Flores had some good ABs last night against right handed pitching.
Flores has played his best over the last month or so - he should be 1B
Cespedes is the heart and soul of the Mets now. They have to keep him. I don't know if I can watch this team next year if they let him go.. I will be so disgusted.
How good has Reyes been? I really missed him. It's so fun to watch #7 sparking the team again like he never left.
Huge getting that W with that pitching matchup. Rafa walked too many batters but can't argue with the results. Very encouraging outing for him.

It's a new game.
Looks like a shoulder
Reyes shouldnt have gone head first
Go
Familia!
Wait...when did TdA turn into a hitter?
Seems like no. If he could bat he would have been up instead of Rivera?Bruce, I assume
Nice
I'm more worried about the Pirates

I think Reyes just plays at a different level with the spotlight in NY. He hasn't looked this good in a while
