Have HBO on demand for free for a month.
Which show do I watch?
I've seen sopranos 5 times and own every episode
Friends love GOT, dragons and shit aren't my style tho but I could see myself loving it. Love the cast.
The wire tho about drugs and police in Baltimore is more up my alley but is it on a high level like GOT or Sopranos??
Thanks BBI
But The Wire's characters and writing were some of the best I've seen. Breaking Bad trumps them both for characters, writing, action and suspense, though IMHO.
But for pure fun you may want to consider....
Deadwood (NSFW!).... - ( New Window )
Both shows are "best of breed", so go with the breed you prefer.
Family Guy watching Breaking Bad - ( New Window )
Not really, since it wasn't on HBO.
Along with Deadwood, I loved Rome....

Will def be watching both, but will Start with "The Wire"
Also wanna watch Ballers too
Don't mix other shows. Just do S1-S5 straight through. Best way to envelope yourself in the story. It is the most compelling show of the last 20 odd years, at least.
It seems like you're trying to sneak this all in during your Free Preview period, so, I'd go for The Wire since it is a completed masterpiece and GoT is still playing out - and it can really drag for episodes - and I'm a fan.
The Wire is a top 3 tv show of all time, and it has one of the top 20 characters in ANY medium of entertainment (imo) and some really great actors in the beginning of their careers (Idris Elba, etc.)
Omar: I shot the boy Mike Mike in his hind parts; that's all.
Omar: Fixed it up so he couldn't sit right.
Maury: Why'd you shoot Mike Mike in his, uh, hind parts, Mr. Little?
Omar: Let's say we had a disagreement.
Maury: A disagreement over?
Omar: Well, you see, Mike Mike thought he should keep that cocaine he was slingin' and the money he was makin' from slingin' it. I thought otherwise.

GoT has a ton of flaws and I think its completely fair to talk about them when discussing all time great shows. The story telling decreases greatly in the most recent 2 seasons. That isn't to say it isn't an all timer, it is, but I agree, it gets more credit due to its scope than the glaring weakness in its writing.
Have you seen Cedar Rapids glowrider? Isiah Whotlock is hilarious but when he references the show I lost it. "I don't mean to brag but I do a pretty convincing Omar from the HBO program The Wire!"
Calamity Jane: I'm gonna get whiskey.
Trixie: There's entries on both sides of the fucking ledger is the fucking point. As I already talk like a fucking Jew.
Calamity Jane: Maybe he has a good side to him too that I entirely fucking missed. It's always fucking possible drunk as I am fucking continuously.
Trixie and Calamity Jane - ( New Window )
The Wire and Deadwood are both awesome.. but I don't remember waiting for episodes like a I did for GOT.
They're all great though.
I also see actors from the Wire everywhere (not in person, other shows)
They're all great though.
You missed Breaking Bad

I did and I also laughed at it (actually a decent movie). I can't see him in anything and not think, "Sheeeeeeeee-it." Another powerful character actor.
