NFT: iPhone users: "Touch Disease"

Kevin in CT : 8/30/2016 12:59 pm
Anyone have any issues with this yet? It seems like more and more people are faced with a phone that will no longer work as this issue gets larger. I downloaded the newest update to my phone and basically it locked my phone up completely. So, I guess I fell victim to this so called "Touch Disease." Went to the Apple Store and of course there is nothing they can do to rectify the issue without me spending $300 for a refurbished phone that may or may not have the same issue down the line. I used to be pro Apple but man, this leaves an awful taste in my mouth.

Samsung Note 7 here I come!

...I have been a fairly content Apple customer and I love the 6 plus. But yes the touch screen and a sudden battery issue has been my issue.
It is not the newest OS that causes it though

I had my phone jailbroken with iOS8 and that is when the "touch disease" started happening. I read, now this is a while back that upgrading to the current OS version should fix this. Well it didn't. Now more and more people are reporting this issue. A lot of people are saying this is the final result of bendgate.
I have it, it is supremely frustrating

I have to toggle the screen on and off to get touch to be responsive. Apple is probably looking at a fairly serious class action lawsuit here, as there are multiple reports Apple has known about this defect for some time.

As far as I have read, it has nothing to do with the software, it is the result of the internal chip controlling touch getting ruined by the bending issues.
For me,

It became an issue as soon as I downloaded the newest update. I have read about it happening randomly as well. It isn't a good look for Apple.
My phone had it too.

It's a hardware problem.

It's not clear. Some reports say flexing of the phone is a factor in causing the problem, but other reports say failures are occurring on phones that aren't carried in pockets and don't get flexed.

It's definitely a hardware issue though: there's a loss of electrical connection to the the chip that controls the touch logic.
