If Jackson is eligible for PS it's worth it to give him a shot there. I could see that. He can play multiple spots and be called up in a pinch. CB, Slot, and Safety. Maybe not well, but he'd be a good guy to keep around.
What is interesting is who has jumped these guys. I think it's clear Andrew Adams and Justin Currie jumped those guys and they are both UDFA. One of those guys might make the team.
Adrian Thompson we know is a lock, so it seems as though Behre, injury prone as he may be, is safe for the moment, along with Klaatu's Mykele Thompson. I'd have thought Currie would be first to go, shows what I know. Then there's Andrew Adams, AA as either Spags or BM calls him.
This would be primary go to today but for Will Beatty.
Goes to show how much better we are then last year
Pipe down, dick wad. Pick the best players whatever round.
Agree. And neither he nor Mykkelle were. But all the Reese defenders can do when they're provided wrong, from day one, is call names. Actually, they hurl insults when you say it was wrong on draft day, and continue to the bitter end.
But all the Reese defenders can do when they're provided wrong, from day one, is call names
The fact that Reese "defenders" exist is only because of posters who illogically want to blame every bad move on him and give no credit.
So they use different names to be derogatory - "Reese defenders" Reese apologists", etc. Why is it such a bad thing to support the team you root for instead of wish ill?
They were really hyping Jackson at FS last year....

Huh? You're right. He's never made a bad pick, a bad trade, or a bad move. Go team!
a 5th round reach, is there such a thing? Guy takes a shot on a player he liked later in the draft, news at 11. If you want to hate Reese for that, I really don't know what to tell you.

My Mykkele Thompson? You would also have to say my Justin Currie, too, along with Andrew Adams.
Most of the prospects this far back are far from finished products, and the odds of these guys making it past their first deal isn't particularly great. Unless you want to be a dumbass and cherrypick a few names we could have picked with 20/20 hindsight, this is one of the stupider gripes I've seen here.
And it wasn't just the injuries. His angles and tackling weren't very good. Just this last game against the Jets, he threw his shoulder into a ball carrier, and of course just bounced off. Didn't even make an effort to wrap.
That's not how you play safety in the NFL. Or at any level, really.
I wish him well in his personal life, but I won't miss him taking up a Giants roster spot.
Adrian Robinson, Cooper Taylor, Mykkelle. Yes, if you take guys who have no business being drafted at all in round 5, it's a reach. That's how you miss the playoffs 6 out of 7 years. Seriously.

I'm no going to tar and feather Reese for a 5th round pick that didn't pan out. Rounds 1-4 is a different story. If you look at the Taylor pick it looked like a worthwhile bet. He had good measurables and played a position of need.
That said, I would make a counter argument that the existence of "Reese critics" was only in response to the "In Reese we Trust" chorus that refused to acknowledge that poor drafting was killing this team.
I take you point Fatman. Some of the criticism of Reese has certainly been over the top and ridiculous, but that said some of his decisions are worthy of questioning.
Bennett Jackson Jr. @B_Jax2
Thank you @Giants for giving me the opportunity to play for this organization the past 2 years. Wish nothing but the best for this team #NYG

The point is that all GMs have "decisions worthy of questioning"
I just read right here on BBI that Cooper Taylor's preseason statistics were so good that he was virtually a shoe-in for a lot of playing time this season. What happened?!?
To an extent I agree, but you also need to consider that drafting a player late is also a way of securing his services.
One time, okay. Three times over the space of a couple of years? Not okay.
Accorsi squeezed in 3 "5th Round Reaches" (can this now be in BBI vernacular?) in a span of two years with Nick Greison, John Markam, and Jonathan Carter. FIRE REESE! ACCORSI!
Maybe, but he made a big hit late in the game against
the Jets, denying a first down. That is really what
preseason is all about, making an impression on the coaches.
What the hell is a 5th round reach?!

Hope Thompson and Behre are the 3 and 4

In the end, neither was going to really contribute positively anyway...

To you, maybe. Not to Gil Brandt.

Just like 75-80% of what's picked in that round everywhere else.
Even there you don't acknowledge anything good. I guess the guy doesn't have 2 SB rings, right?
Boo, Giants! You suck!!
Thats like saying a guy drafted in the 10th round of fantasy football was a reach...
That's not how you play safety in the NFL. Or at any level, really.

...stuff written about Cooper Taylor on BBI.
Would be a very rich man.

and 5th rounds have a high bust rate.

The #Giants also released WR K.J. Maye and CB Joe Powell, per sources. Maye flashed at times. Saw some potential.
2013 Draft - ( New Window )
It's not that unusual to waive a PS-ticketed player in the first round of cuts. I think they did it last year with Will Tye.

Quinten Dial, Micah Hyde, Luke Wilson, Zac Stacy all would have contributed more than Taylor did.
