NFT: Is Kaepernick a hypocrite?

Milton : 8/30/2016 2:41 pm
Before turning to football as a way to make it out of the ghetto, Kaep earned his keep as a snitch for the Baltimore Police Department.
Today...

Years ago....

I think there are bigger issues at play.
Randy in CT : 8/30/2016 3:00 pm : link
He might have a point, in general, but is somewhat ignorant in a variety of things which will lead to instances of hypocrisy.

And the whole national Anthem thing--is that really your target of what's wrong? Or could it/should it be one of our uniting things?

That would rule out almost every single athlete. Funny how the people most butthurt about CK sitting, are likely going to vote for the candidate that insulted a decorated war hero, and never apologized.

True. They could even be the same people who are all about freedom and the constitution.

end of discussion. He's just finding himself. ONe day he will look back and realize that what he did or didn't do was stupid and inappropriate. There's a place for making a statement. The national anthem isn't the time or place. Not to mention the dude plays for the National Football league. Might as well play for America. You can't summon the strength to stand and honor any single aspect of this country while being employed by the very face of this country? Get another fucking job.

I am pointing out the hypocrisy in the logic. Is it more disrespectful to insult a POW or to sit down and not acknowledge cloth? Seems that bringing up cancelling logic rubbed you the wrong way.

I just saw this article in Snopes about a third little known
Ira : 8/30/2016 4:30 pm : link
stanza of The Star Spangled Banner. It goes like this -

Quote:
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

I'm not sure what it all means. I'll link the article below and copy another from The Daily News.

I have no problem with what he said, because it is a free country, and he's entitled to do what he wants. Personally, I'd have stood up for the flag too, why are you so up in arms about this, and calling me names? The fact that my reference to cancelling logic burns you so much, tells me that it is not me that's the fucking moron.

Mdgiantsfan : 8/30/2016 4:53 pm : link
As a vet, I do not take offense to him choosing not to stand for the Anthem. But what is bothersome to me is the fact that the what he is trying to bring attention to and hopefully a solution, is far from what everyone is focused on. All anyone really wants to do is berate or defend his decision to take this stand in this manner.

I think this is the second time I've seen this reference, and I'm not sure what's so 'American' about the NFL. It's 32 old guys working together to keep labor down to a minimum, cap earning potential for players, make obscene profits for themselves, enjoy a free minor league system, artificially create parity so all these teams are the same, and get billion dollar stadiums built with city and state funding.

On two threads you posted this. You may want to keep incorrect posts to only one thread.

It's his birth mom, who he has not have had any relationship with. Sort of irrelevant if you ask me. But whatever agenda you want to try to pass on, at least do so with some accurate information.

I suggest you take a break from these threads. You come across as a college student regurgitating what you were just taught and in general trying to learn on the fly. First of all its not a Republicans vs Democrats issue when it comes to judging Colin K. So take the generic stereotype bullshit elsewhere.

Second, obviously, disagreeing with something someone says or does... Doesn't translate into whether one will or should vote for him. One can be upset with Trump for disparaging a vet while at the same time believing he is a better candidate than Hillary. And we aren't voting CK in for an election so I'm not sure what the fucking point is here. Again you try too hard on this and race relations in general.

Third politics are off limits on this site and everyone knows exactly who you were talking about above. It wasn't a necessary or even coherent parallel.
I never said all people that are killing CK
David in LA : 8/31/2016 1:59 pm : link
are voting for the other guy. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know where the majority of the most vocal critics are coming from. This is such a stupid thing to get worked up over. People get worked over a piece of cloth, but it's ok to overtly insult a decorated veteran. Ok then.
The thread title is asking if he's a hyprocrit
David in LA : 8/31/2016 2:01 pm : link
so is it not hypocritical to kill CK over this, when a lot of these people are ok with someone insulting the shit out of someone who served in the military?

You're a jackass, I have never insulted anyone that has served. I might disagree for the reasons we are at war, but it's always been respect.

As Mets are Back just explained, not many people are OK with that. Preferring one candidate over another is not as simplistic as saying you agree with everything your preferred candidate said.

I don't really understand what you just said. Coming from someone who you probably feel is in the other side, I am much more bothered by what that guy said about the veteran than what some general unfocused crap was said by a declining football player. I am not outraged by an asshole expressing his right to speak.
