At 224 E. 59th St is a Japanese grocery store, Katagiri. My grandfather grew up in one of the apartments above it (same store, actually). When he was 13, he carved his initials and the year, AC 1936, in the doorway of his building, just to the right of the store. It was there for a long time, but the last time I went by to see it was probably around 1999 or 2000. If it's still there, I'd like to take my kids to see it this weekend when we're up visiting. However, there's really nothing else around it that we'd want to see, so if the doorway has been replaced and the carving is no longer there, I don't want to drag a 6 and 8 year old halfway across Manhattan for nothing. If anyone happens to pass by there for whatever reason, could you look and see if it's still there? This is likely the last time I will see my grandfather, so I'm hoping to see what has been a bit of family lore. Thanks!
And thanks for the call saying you were in town, you know I would reach out to you if I were ever in Oz...

Well, for one thing, I'm not in town yet. Driving up to LI Thursday, probably do our NYC sightseeing on Sunday or Monday. For another thing, you changed your email so you obviously don't care about me anymore.
Well, you spend enough time with them and some of their speech patterns are bound to soak in
Wait, were you the one who pulled his hand out from the front of his pants and then sniffed his fingertips?
