I'd have expected better than 40 arm.
what's the endgame there, though?
Greg from LI : 8/30/2016 3:54 pm : link
He's already 29 years old and he hasn't played baseball in 11 years, since his senior year of high school. I don't care how good an athlete he is or how much untapped potential he has - even if he truly has the innate ability to play baseball at that level, a conservative estimate of how long it would take him to have a shot at the big leagues is three years. How much time and resources would teams be willing to invest in a guy whose best case scenario would be as a 32 year old rookie?
a 35 hit tool with 55 power

So his upside is Shelley Duncan, basically?

NL Scout told Taylor Blake Ward that Tebow had "80" raw power on an 50/80 scale.

NL scout on gave serious praise to Tim Tebow, "That raw power is irreplaceable," asked him to grade his power, "80"
Why baseball?

I like Tebow - I think his image has been hijacked by certain groups (ESPN among them), driving a level of fame disproportionate to his success, but he never struck me as a bad guy - actually, the opposite seems more likely.

But why not play football - he could be a fullback or an H-back on an NFL roster is pretty short order, given his skill set. If he wants to be a pro athlete, that seems the path of least resistance.
He puts some fannies in seats in A or AA ball

How much of an investment is that?

X1000. For the team it's all about the gate/sales. You don't have to share minor league jersey sales with the rest of the league so for say the Rays or whomever it might be a nice little "bonus" $$.

LOL great comp.

If his swing is as long as his throwing mechanics, he's gonna be a strikeout machine.
But
DanMetroMan : 8/30/2016 4:49 pm : link
what is the downside? He sells some tickets? He takes some playing time from the 4th best OF on some A-ball team?
the Minors are part circus

and ticket sales mean a lot, so I totally get it.
