Excellent analysis here
The New York Giants brought their revamped defense into Dallas to take on one of the best offensive lines in the league and one of the most hyped up RB prospects since Adrian Peterson in Ezekial Elliot. With Dak Prescott making his first start at QB, everyone and their mother expected a heavy dose of Elliot running behind the heralded offensive line and expectation for Elliot were for him to have a strong opening game. The Giants didn’t get the memo though and decided that a rude awakening was in store for him. Elliot was only able to get 2.5 yards per carry and Giants were buzzing in the backfield all game. So how did the Giants make one of the strongest running games on paper look anemic with Elliot on the field? The four main factors I saw watching the film were that the WILL LBs were aggressive in attacking the line of scrimmage, that Damon Harrison, Johnathan Hankins, and Olivier Vernon were dominating the interior linemen of the Cowboys, the safeties were aggressive and sure tacklers, and that the Cowboys TEs were not capable of blocking Vernon or Jason Pierre-Paul.

Loven' it!
The linebackers are improved and this is/will be a top ten defense.
The Cowboys scored 1 TD, off a turnover deep in Giants territory. The Giants held the Cowboys to 4.4 yards per play, their QB to 55% passing and no TD's, and their star RB to 2.5 yards per carry. Casillas had 11 tackles, everyone did their job and didn't seem to have any mental mistakes/blown coverages. This defense is going to be very good and they had a strong opening game. I am very encouraged. Cheers to good health.

took Elliot and Dez out of the game. If they don't make big plays the Cowboys lose. Our DL and DB's are vastly improved from last year. If the Giants had better LB's this could be a top ten defense.

Keep it up guys, 1 week at a time.
Sheppard looks like a signing based off stats(12 TFL).
Man Vernon pushed Whitten way out of the play. Its like Whitten had roller skates on

I feel very good about our defensive line with Collins and Casillas backing it up. If they can do that to the best offensive line in the NFL and stop a RB like Elliot, then we are going to have a fun year.
Best shot of the game though, was watching Jerry Jones bury his face in his hands in disbelief as he believed with all his heart that his vaunted O-line and a power runner would easily dismantle the Giants run defense. His expression: priceless

It can't be him. His mysterious shoulder injury is going to keep him out for months.

Because Casillas is starting over Robinson.
Yeah for sure... that was my favorite part of the game... lol
Now... that is how you play the phucquing run!

And he made La'el look pretty stupid too.
That's crazy talk.
We still play them one more time.

keep your eyes on 98. That's a 350lb DT.

Vernon pushed Witten backwards right into both Frederick and Elliot. Awesome.
Without taking anything away from Hankins, he is now the least talented player on the DL.
That is very exciting.
Poor Zeke.
The playbook on how to stop him is already out. Its going to start by blowing up the TE assingments. Good as their line is, its now got a pretty obvious weak spot.
That is definitely a ting of booty!
and not just for Snacks --
Vernon knocks Whitten back fifteen yards and on to his ass
Our Collins knocks their Collins back fifteen yards
only one Cowboy pushes forward and it takes him out of the play - all the rest were pushed back by a blue player and evisserated
that play is utter domination of a set of very vaunted Offensive weapons
Also Casillas gets a ton of credit for his aggressiveness and play diagnosis.
The only thing I worry about is a team like New Orleans who can use that aggressiveness against the Giants. We all know the Saints will run out of passing formations and pass out of run formations.
