Fun Fact! Giants and black quarterbacks.

If Jacoby Brissett starts next week for the Patriots, it'd be the first black quarterback they have started in team history. The Giants would be the only remaining team to have never started a black quarterback.

Does the long history of the team matter when there is not a long history of African American coaches in the league?
The Giants starting QBs haven't been diverse in any respect
81_Great_Dane : 9/19/2016 10:50 am : link
since Eli got the job.

On second thought, I guess the starting QB keeps getting older, so there's that.

The Giants did have the first black assistant coach in the NFL
Greg from LI : 9/19/2016 10:54 am : link
Emlen Tunnell in 1965.

The NFL had been integrated in the 1920s, but by 1934 a color barrier had been established. The Giants weren't the first team to break it, but they were one of the first few when they signed Tunnell in 1948.

sure, there was a league wide issue until the rooney rule came into effect and not unique to the gmen. but as the giants have been around since the 1920s, they've had more opportunities than say the seahawks, jaguars or panthers to hire African American coaches or starting QB. especially playing in a socially progressive market like NY.
I could care less
Giants : 9/19/2016 10:57 am : link
I do not care about the color of the skin. I only want a good coach,QB/players and GM. I want to see my beloved Giants do well.
This is 1 stupid thread.
Spider56 : 9/19/2016 11:02 am : link
Let me suggest something more positive ... If Brissett plays and Mike Glennon also gets in ... there would be 4 QBs from NC State in the NFL... How many other schools can say that ???

Not bad for a second tier program.
We've also had the luxury
terz22 : 9/19/2016 11:02 am : link
Of having eli manning not miss a game since 2004. And it seems a lot more black quarterbacks are starting to be more prevalent in college and in the pros.
The Giants also had Rosey Brown as coach prettty early on, and did
yatqb : 9/19/2016 11:04 am : link
bring in Hank Washington one offseason (1967) for a trial at QB...and it was a big story at that point, as there had been no black QBs in the league to that point.

Excuse me. Ryan Perriloux was PRIMED for stardom but he could never start because of the whiplash he sustained from being on and off the practice squad 3 times every week.

In all seriousness the reason for this has nothing to do with anything other than the fact that we have since the mid 80's only had about 10 starting QB's.

Simms, Hostetler, Brown, Kanell, Graham, Maddox, Collins, Palmer, Warner and Eli.

We are blessed in that respect.

Why don't we look at how many teams have employed black punters? We're on a SHORT list with my man Rodney.

are able to navigate the world before you.

Using only the evidence at hand, one can reasonably deduce that you've reached a point where you have easy access to the internet so that suggests at least owning a computer/phone and a means of paying for said items. Since you are obviously alive, you have managed to regularly ingest enough food to keep yourselves from starving, so that basic level of competence can be assumed. Moreover, your spelling is functional which suggests some level of education, but how much remains unclear.

It is of course possible (likely?) that you are wholly reliant on parents/nurses/helper monkeys to feed, clothe, and bathe you, and that you dictate your BBI posts to a poorly paid transcriber. And that is why you've made it this far in life and are able to post on this website, but I just feel like that's a stretch.

I mean...right?
