It's been a fun start, but the OL looks like it could be a problem against decent fronts.
You expected something different? It is a limited line right now. Hopefully Flowers improves and Beatty can win the RT job (or Hart) and push Newhouse to the bench.
So that might work against him. If Hart starts at RT and someone else goes down then Beatty would move to tackle and Hart most likely would go to either guard position. That is a lot of shuffling. If Beatty is the RT then Hart would be the backup at LG, RG, and RT. Obviously, they will go with the player that gives them the best chance to win but with everything being equal I think Beatty gets the nod.

I wouldn't expect Beatty or Hart to be appreciably better than Newhouse.
While I love what the Giants did in the offseason to retool the defense, with all the weapons they have on offense, why wouldn't the Giants at the very least try and bolster this unit. They are scary. They can't run block for shit and yesterday against a not so great defensive line they got some pressure on Eli.

I think they did try....who was really available to sign that would have been a huge upgrade?

It doesn't have to be much better, just better. At least we'll see if Hart is worth spending time on.
Beatty will need to get in game shape, but having played in the system, knowing play book and being healthy gives him a chance to be an equal level replacement for Newhouse in short order.
Coming to terms with him was a very, very smart move.
He had about 15 offensive snaps.
I guess if he was better than Newhouse he would have been starting.
Hart was very effective for the little bit he was in the game (especially in pass protection). It is a very small sample size, but it's better than if he was getting beat.
with the right side work he had, and, WB I believe refusing to try right side play at cut time, advantage: Hart.
And I know They are hardass on EF being a LT, but a roadgrader on the right side would be helpful since its the natural hand side of our RBs, IMO.I think the versatility would help EFs confidence as well, in addition to doing what he loves, smashmouthing.
There's a reason Newhouse - as underwhelming as he's been - was chosen to be the starter at RT. Not the late round pick, and not the guy who was filling out job applications when teams were running minicamps.
Neither guy is the answer. Let's just hope they do minimal damage.
We project him as a guard up here for us, Reese said. He has played a lot of football. I think hes only 20 years old. I dont want to say really long arms, but his arms are 33 inches. He has good arm length. Hes played a lot of ball at a high level of competition for Florida State. I see guys like that with his skill set. We see them every Sunday playing in the National Football League. But we do think hes a guard and not a tackle.
I can't find the exact quote from Reese, but he indicated that Hart didn't have "nifty feet." Expecting him to produce at Tackle is pretty far-fetched, although not impossible.
I think once he's ready to go the line will take a big step forward.
It's not the pec that should worry us-- it's the shoulder. It's a tricky joint to operate on. None of us know how his long-term strength, stability, and range of motion might have been affected.

It is funny that he seems to be much quicker than Newhouse, yet he didn't have nifty feet. I did notice that he seems tiny standing next to Jerry. Newhouse looks about the same size as Jerry. I know he lost weight to get quicker in the off season, I think he said he is 325, but looks a lot smaller than that.

His draft profile supports that as well: STRENGTHS Bubble butt with power in his lower half. Improved from being a neutralizer to run-block winner in 2014. Can reestablish line of scrimmage when asked to maul. Wins in short yardage and near goal line. Gets hand on defender first and can latch on in pass protection. Turned 20 years old in August and body is still developing.
WEAKNESSES Stiff knees and hips limit his bend and leverage. Comes out of his stance too high. Shuffles feet rather than chops in pass pro, causing his base to narrow. Struggles to make his back-side cutoff blocks. Frenetic hands with too much wasted motion. Limited, small-area, guard-only prospect. Lethargic feet after contact.
DRAFT PROJECTION Round 6
BOTTOM LINE Young, soft-bodied prospect who is best suited to play guard in the NFL. Tape doesn't always treat Hart kindly, but his issues in pass protection as a tackle won't be same issues he faces in the NFL as a guard. While he has physical limitations, Hart is a competitive player who flashes NFL power potential.
Safety Mykkele Thompson (knee) will be out for "a few weeks," McAdoo said.
Coach McAdoo said RB Rashad Jennings (hand) will be limited in practice to start the week.

I wonder if the Giants look at Shiloh Keo

I'm sure Jennings will be limited, but what does that have to do with his hand? Zing!!

This.
Watch what you ask for?! Hart is probably no better then Newhouse and Beatty hasn't played RT in quite a few years!

You think we really need another top-notch WR?
Ooooooh! I said that on the game thread and got CUSSED OUT!!!
Lol!
I say we use our Saints #1 pick from the Shockey trade to draft another tackle this draft! LOL!!
I guess if he was better than Newhouse he would have been starting.
Well Cameron Jordan didn't get near Eli in those dozen or so plays...Not enough body of work to say. Have to wait for PFF to tell us.

I am going to rewatch the game tonight and focus on Hart in the 4th quarter.

That's a bummer. Seems like one thing after another ...

RT is not the same kind of leap as LT.
