Cowboys DE Randy Gregory withdrew appeal of his 10-game suspension for multiple violations of NFL's Substance Abuse policy and now will be suspended through week 14, league sources tell me and Todd Archer. Gregory is first eligible to return in week 15.
it was reported right before the season started
jlukes : 9/19/2016 4:45 pm : link
that Gregory's suspension was reduced to 4 games.

That is no longer the case

why does a 10-game suspension
Rocky369 : 9/19/2016 4:45 pm : link

Weeks 1-2 don't count since he was appealing, and I'm guessing they have there bye week in there. Can probably return to the field on week 14.

That said, it was a foolish appeal since he's currently in rehab and didn't even play those first two weeks. Unlike Lane Johnson who's playing while he waits for a decision on his appeal (unless I missed the decision).

Giants - actually he was already suspended for the first 4 games
jlukes : 9/19/2016 4:48 pm : link
the 10 game suspension was on top of that

Are you sure? The link you posted says it was extended, not a separate suspension:

yeah

I think it was the 2 violations and since they both occurred before he served the penalty, they add up in succession.
He'll be fresh when the playoffs begin.

Is it me or do these character risks
madgiantscow009 : 9/19/2016 5:31 pm : link
seem riskier than in the past?

Not even worth the risk unless it is late round.
Gregory is done for this year

He wasn't at camp he can't go near the team until week 14. He's not going to contribute anything. This is a guy with 11 total tackles and 0 sacks in his career. He's not going to walk on in December and be a factor. And one more incident from gone. Great pick.

Looks like Lane has his appeal scheduled for week 4. If the suspension is upheld, it will begin immediately from that time.
