Did Trent Dilfer really just say "this is a championship quarterback the Eagles have found." ?!?! The guy played ONE game in NFL and it was against the most pathetic franchise in perhaps all of sports. Let's settle down a bit ESPN, before you go put Wentz in HOF lets see him play in maybe a few more games.
What is taking the NFL so long to suspend Lane Johnson? The report came out a month ago about his positive drug test and potential 10 game suspension. What's the hold up?!?

It's even funnier when you consider that before opening day, Dilfer lightly mocked Matt Hasselbeck for suggesting that Wentz was a QB making his first start for a new team worth watching. (Dak the Daring, Broken Bob Griffin, and Jimmy Garoppolo were the more acceptable guesses.)
Dilfer has been a horrible analyst for at least the last two years. I thought he was pretty good when he first became an analyst.
but it is as basic as you will get, all first reads and short gains. Teams will be daring him very soon by jamming up front
Agreed. He's doing well, but his throws are quick hitches, slants, and some shallow outs. The ball is coming out in less than two seconds on many throws, all of which are at the first level at the deepest. He's making one or two reads at the most. That's what you'd expect, and he's doing it well, but at some point he's going to have to make more complicated reads and throws. He's smart, and has enough arm strength, so it's probably just a matter of time.

The Bears are 3-13 at home over the last two seasons.
in insufferable that Gruden is shocked that Wentz had a 3rd down completion.
When I see praise getting heaped on kids who are just starting in the league when a two-time SB MVP gets either shit on or is given reluctant praise, it is absolutely baffling.
Do I have to list the Josh Freeman's, the Colin Kaepernick's, the Mark Sanchez's, the Matt ryan's, the Kevin Kolb's and Nick Foles', or the Sam Bradford's and the Kirk Cousins of the world who at one time or another were looked at as better than Eli.
Sad and maddening.
Holy shit Wentz just had another failed drive!! Go nuts, Chucky!

What's insufferable is the never ending victim complex by some NY sports fans. The media is not out to get us.
I'm still not convinced. He's played 6 quarters in the NFL.
I'm not saying he hasn't done well in what (little) he's been asked to do, but it's still way, way too soon to draw conclusions.
If he keeps getting blasted in the torso, for example, I'd be surprised if he has many 16-game seasons in him.
Also, watch his eyes tonight. He's almost always throwing to his first option. We don't know how this guy will do going through reads when he has to, because he barely does it.
And even if he becomes a long-term starter, it doesn't necessarily say a lot about the Eagles' fortunes. Phil Rivers has been a very good quarterback, yet the Chargers haven't won shit. And Andrew Luck is a great quarterback, yet the Colts are largely shit otherwise.
What I'm trying to say is let's all continue to enjoy pissing on the Eagles. Let's not let a guy running a simple offense ruin the fun.
RE: I would've thought the time out crap was done... Â
He was the #10 pick, if thats all he can do he's a bust
I've been watching Floyd from beginning and that is not accurate. He played all three downs on the Eagles first two possessions, being pulled at the goal line for second and third down plays.
He was not on the field at all for Eagles third possession.
Acho and Houston were the OLBs for the fourth possession until Houston hurt his knee. Since then, Floyd has been playing three downs.
He didn't do much productive and it's questionable how much playing time he would be getting if not for Houston's injury. But he has not been used as a situational 3rd down rusher.
As one who was a strong naysayer of Floyd as the Giants' pick, I will give him his due (based also on preseason observation). He does have some good pass rush moves and sometimes shows surprising strength on a bull rush. He's up against a very tough opponent in Johnson tonight.
I never saw how Floyd would fit in Giants' 4-3 and still don't. If you use him as an end rusher, you'd have to move JPP or Vernon inside, taking away their best spot. And Floyd could not cover as well as Casillas and Robinson.
announcers because he'll just focus on one or two players and he'll build the majority of the commentary around those two guys. The other analysts at least try to discuss other stuff during the game. He's literally gushing over Wentz every drive. It is almost unwatchable.
You can do much worse with a starting qb, he's a solid placeholder and talented enough to catch some lightning in a bottle with under the right circumstances... but you shouldn't hand him the keys for almost a decade as the Bears have done. Tough to believe they are in year 8 now of the Cutler era there
With the Eagles luck Antonio Brown will slip in pre game intros and need his leg amputated while Big Ben tries to rape a cheerleader at half time while Carson Wentz throws 500 4 yard passes for a win.

In fairness when Wentz throws deep.... Jordan Matthews just drops it anyway
What exactly is this based on?
Wait till the Eagles play the Cowboys... Wentz vs Dak
I think you are going to see lots of turnovers this game. I see a 27-16 Bears win.
The Bears are 3-13 at home over the last two seasons.

I stand corrected. Wow that's bad.
Exactly what I was thinking.
Look for a tall, skinny guy.
He tripped over his feet too. Pretty good start so far.

I met Mills, nice guy, but dumb as a brick. Wasn't happy I was a Giants fan
Same. They've been blah for so long but kind of fly under the radar. Such a boring team/franchise.
Which type?
He's relentless...he demands perfection!
Do you realize how dumb this sounds on paper?

This is true, and the reason is largely because they've never had a great quarterback. Unless you count Jim McMahon (I don't).
Which is fairly remarkable for a such a bedrock franchise that's been around forever.

On a tangent, was talking with a guy at work today - who played QB between Aikman and Romo? Quincy Carter was the only guy I could think of….

Since we know he prepares like no other and demands perfection, he will cure all forms of cancer
You going to ice the kicker on a 52 yarder before halftime?

Holy crap, such a brain fart today. Bledsoe, Testaverde, Drew Henson, Chad Hutchinson, Anthony Wright, Clint Stoerner and RYAN LEAF!
my same exact thoughts.
I didn't say the media was out to get us, asswipe.
I said they've elevated some shitty QB's as being better than a two time SB QB.
Frankly, you understand that shit because it is backward-ass contrarian garbage.

Change it up, Fangio.

I lol'd. Didn't realize Manning had that many fumbles.
How many QBs were even in the league since 2006 to now? Then ask yourself how many played every regular season game.
Well they still have Sam Bradford

Try going into this game needing 7 points out the Bears somehow. Thank god for that punt return for a TD. My opponent has got to be pissed.
