His B sample came back & he still failed his drug test. His appeal will be heard during the Bye week & if it's upheld he will miss weeks 5-14. IMO he should have just took the suspension from the beginning. Missing the Browns & Bears in Week 1 & 2 is a lot less important then missing games against Seattle, Green Bay, Cincinnati & Washington. Works for me though.
That said, what the hell takes the NFL so long to resolve these appeals?
How on earth can he appeal the suspension? He failed multiple tests and is a repeat offender. What is there to appeal and how could he possibly win an appeal.
It's a pretty black and white issue.
It has no bearing on the players' games. Journalists sweep stuff under the rug all the time based on gaining access.
The NFLPA provides an app that allows the listed label ingredients of a supplement to be checked against the prohibited list.
But the NFLPA also highlights in the boldest, most explicit language that the app is not a guarantee of anything because, of course, the NFLPA has no way of knowing what is actually in any supplement.
And, of course, we only have Johnson's "word" that the supplement in question "must" have been the one and only source for the substance found in his body.
Good luck with that.
Note that under the prior CBA the NFL and NFLPA jointly offered a list of approved supplements. That went out with the new CBA in 2011.
Works out better for the Giants. Even if his suspension is reduced to 4 games, his first eligible game back will be against the Giants. Gotta expect he'll be a little rusty after 4 weeks off.
Those games count more?
When you bring a legitimate comparison of that farce of an organization, the NCAA, to the NFL, it's a little frightening that the NFL could have fallen this far.
The NC investigation and lack of punishment will go down as one of the all time frauds in the history of amateur athletics, and probably should lead to the abolishment of the NCAA.
