2. Didn't really seem like he looked past his first target. Now that may be because the Bears didn't cover anyone but it's something to look out for this week against the Steelers.
in long yardage situations, which were not to many.Bears are really bad and they could have thrown all night on that Eagle secondary but their OL sucks and Cutler just isn't good enough.
Wentz, much like Dak is making the most out of a limited passing game plan. They both will face much bigger tests this year.
of course, the real credit for both his and DP's success in Dallas goes to the coaching staff, who created a game plan that each of them were capable of executing. Reminds me a bit of how coach Harbaugh was able to win with Alex Smith in SF for a while, until defenses adjusted to what they were trying to do and force Alex into more difficult throws.
My guess is that over time, defenses will force them to adjust these plans, and we will see how long these guys can continue to adjust.
Prescott didn't do so well after the Giants made their adjustments in the second half of the game. I think if we can stay healthy he might struggle even more by the time we play them again.
In the pocket and he got hit hard a few times and bounced back. It's against 2 shitty teams, but he looks like he belongs which is big at this stage of his career.
one name...Robert Griffin III. He looked great in his first year also, didn't he. Then he got pounded because he ran around and didn't protect himself, very similar to what Wentz is doing, then he got hurt and was never the same.
Being a good QB is a body of work over a period of time against both tough and easy opponents.
He has done well so far but let's not put him in Canton yet.
It takes a lot for me to say, but hes looked good. I am taking into account who he has played, but he knows where to go with the ball and seems to have a firm grasp of the offense. He can diagnose a blitz and he can make a play with his legs if he needs to (although he took a bunch of big hits last night and needs to learn how to protect himself or he wont last). I know its early, but it looks like the Eagles made a good choice.
the Eagles have finally got themselves a keeper. Tall, poised, cerebral, strong and accurate arm. Already looks like he's played in the NFL for the past 5 years.
If he stays healthy, he will give the Giants fits for years to come.
Of course it's early, but he seems incredibly mature and acts nothing like the typical jittery rookie with that deer in the headlights look when stepping onto the field in the NFL for the first time
he doesn't turn the ball over. His yards per play aren't all that impressive, and he's played two of the NFL's worst teams.
Gruden liked him last night, but what did he mention? Poise, intelligence, ball handling. That's a good start, but let's see him down 14 points against a real team and see what happens.
It's early and it'll be nice to see the Eagles actually have to play a real NFL team soon but I think he's looked very comfortable and in control thus far. He seems to have a really good feel for the game and he's made some pretty impressive throws.
Again.. it's early. But it's tough not to give the kid credit so far. If it were us and it was some rookie that was taking Eli's place a few years from now I think it's pretty safe to say that we'd all be very happy right now.
His first few years he looked outstanding. Some guys grow. Some don't.
Wentz, after 2 games, is impressive. People saying it was against this defense or he avg 6 YPA? That doesn't mean the way he handled himself, moved around, and threw a football on an NFL field wasn't impressive. It Mathews catches the ball his YPA is good. Last week he threw some nice deep balls.
He looks like a real player. No need to take it as any kind of knock on Eli but thats what many do here.
Cutler has also had a new OC every single year in Chicago.
What? He beat two terrible defense on teams that are a combined 0-4? Â
I saw him for the first time last night, and while I know it was the Bears, I watched a few series and thought, "uh oh". Kid seems cool, seems to read the defense, looked like a quick release and accurate passer. Didn't see the hits he took, hey I could only watch so much of that lousy game. But yeah, looks like the Dirty Birds might have a QB.
Agreed, it's too early to tell the future based on one or two games Â
Not making mistakes and making some plays. What else could you want out of a rookie going into week 3. Lets see what he could do against a playoff team this week. He's played against two teams drafting in the top 5 (arguable battling for the top pick) so far.
Cutler has been running for his life in Chicago his whole career there and the OL is still bad. And we think our OL situation sucks - take a look at Indy or Chicago - those QBs have about a second to throw it most downs.
As for Wentz, he's gonna be good, so that sucks.
RE: RE: What? He beat two terrible defense on teams that are a combined 0-4? Â
his career like Wentz has, everyone here would be singing his praises. Kid has played well so far
That's the annoying part. Sometimes I wish we had this system when Eli was drafted so he could have a QB friendly system as he was starting out rather than the previous system. I am sure other fans and media heads would have a different opinion on him as well.
Hopefully in this system, he can be highly productive and change peoples opinions regarding him.

welcome back Anish, it's been a while since I've seen you post.
I totally agree about Eli. Roethlisberger did nothing but hand off for 2 years. Eli was asked to do way more way sooner than any of the others.
to do more led directly to being successful in an offense that got him two rings. I don't think he would change a thing. We all collectively need to stop caring what people in the media and elsewhere say or think about him.
he has been impressive so far. He has averaged 5 yards per attempt which is not a high number, he made a nice throw to Matthews on a long ball that Matthews dropped, he also made two nice throws while under pressure. He also made a couple of wild throws on longer outs where he they were not timing patterns and he underthrew Agohlar on the deep ball where Gruden moaned for PI Who knows? He will probably be a starting QB in this league for a long time, but whether he is Ryan Fitzpatrick or Aaron Rodgers is anyone's guess.
What bothers me is that we have a guy who has played 13 years of high quality football and every single throw he makes is analyzed like the Zapruder film; this guy comes in and throws a couple hitches and out timing patterns and he is the second coming of Joe Montana. It is grating and annoying if you constantly root for an oft-criticized and severely underappreciated QB.
what ends up being one of the funniest things is that in a game where he went 32-41, there were a bunch of derisive comments about eli on this site during the game thread.
But if you don't think Prescott or Wentz has been impressive, you're a homer. There are very few QB's who just shit the bed anymore - so this whole idea about poise seems a bit overdone.
You know who does seem to shit the bed regularly? Cutler. But I guess that the claims he'd be an all time great is just because some guys grow and some don't. Just like Sanchez I guess.
This is why it is rare that I'll comment on a 1st or 2nd year player, because the guys who turn out like Romo show over time they are really good, while the Sanchez's, the Freeman's, the Kaepernick's, the Kolb's and the Foles' tend to show themselves as flashes in the pan, even with analysts fawning over them early on.
This kid looks good so far. You play who you play. I'm looking forward to the competition twice a year with him. It's still early though and teams will game plan for him and he will have some tough patches but looks legit. He has to be feeling good starting before Goff

Not a critique of your overall point - just wanted to add that in lieu of waiting past two years, one should look past 32 games or so. Current case in point: Kirk Cousins. What's the jury got to say about him?
and not at all like a newbe QB with little expierience. A great find for the HATED Eagles maybe, hope not. Have to see him against a better defense like the Giants for instance.
So far

so good
Wentz looked pretty damn good to me . He does need to learn
to go into a slide and get down quicker or he won't last
the season .
Filthys D will be a problem and they have Depth .
The O-line is a worry for me lets hope no one else goes
down thankfully it was Newhouse but were so thin even
that doesn't help .
At least Johnson got suspended that one did hurt .....
is he can throw the ball, and he can read defenses. Kaepernick, Wilson, Mariota and a lot of the other flash in the pans could not do one or the other.
I put Dak Prescott in the category with Kaepernick and Foles. He may yet develop into a good QB. But he has had success so far because he has a great running game, they don't ask him to do much and he can make plays with his legs.
But to be a great QB, you need to be able to hit receivers downfield in tight spaces. I have not seen Prescott do that yet on a consistent basis.
I also don't consider Cam a great QB. He is a great Talent. Even a unique talent, who can be a force. But a great QB? Nope.
A message board isn't for you, chill out. We are talking about how he looks after 2 games, not putting him in the hall of fame. Is anyone allowed to talk about the QB of a rival team, or do we have to wait until season 3?
Fair enough - of course Wentz is a legitimate topic for discussion. My point was just that we've sort of exhausted the topic. Wasn't this the third or fourth Carson Wentz thread? We can all agree he looks pretty good so far, aside from taking too many hits.

Only negatives I saw were:
1. Takes ridiculous hits for no reason.
2. Didn't really seem like he looked past his first target. Now that may be because the Bears didn't cover anyone but it's something to look out for this week against the Steelers.

Let's wait until games 7, 8 or more to get a real gauge on them.
If you are an Eagle or Dallas fan you have HOPE and that is HUGE.
If he stays healthy, he will give the Giants fits for years to come.

I don't get responses like this. Is anyone really saying that? Of course not.
Cutler played as well as you can when you are running for your life much of the time.
As for Wentz, he's gonna be good, so that sucks.

Well, what are you waiting for? Give him a yellow jacket and a bust in Canton!

Yes eagle fans are

They should be doing back flips in Philly!!!!---that kid is throwing ropes and making decisions and protecting the ball.
I like great young players---I hope he stays away from useless contact.

They look like a different team with him playing qb...we're better but the qb position for them is going to be very solid.
I find it odd that the telecasts don't mention the fact cousins has NEVER beaten a team with a winning record as a starter.
That's ridiculous!

Great, you had to mention THAT? Bastid..
