Keenan Robinson on Toxic Skins' locker room

“When I was there, three out of the four years it was the same thing: Once they get down, they start pointing fingers, and that’s true,” Robinson said, via Howie Kussoy of the New York Post. “They didn’t handle it the right way when I was there. They may handle it different now, but when I was there they started pointing fingers, people started talking, that’s how you get dissension in the locker room.

“The only year it didn’t happen was my rookie year when Robert [Griffin III] took us to the playoffs. Other than that, the guys are kind of unsure.”

It was my choice. I felt like it was time for me to move on,” Robinson said. “They had offered me a big contract. I turned it down. I felt like that wasn’t the spot I wanted to be in the next four or five years and I felt there were better opportunities out there and obviously I ended up in the right spot. I’m loving it here and I’m loving what we have. . . . I feel like I fit right in.”

I hate when players talk bad about their X team

But, I didn't know the skins offered him a "big" contract. I'm not sure that's true, but I was glad when the Giants signed him. He adds much needed speed to that group.

First I've heard of that as well..I was delighted with the signing, though concerned about his injury history
Also, I'm not that concerned about these comments
Big Blue '56 : 9/21/2016 7:25 am : link
As he didn't point fingers at anyone. Too, it's not as if the Skins aren't nodding their heads in agreement
I don't doubt that Washington offered him big nominal dollars.
Big Blue Blogger : 9/21/2016 8:22 am : link
I'd be very surprised if there was much guaranteed money in the deal. That would explain the appeal of New York's one-year "prove-it" offer.

Disclaimer: "When they say it's not about the money, it's about the money."

-buford's paramour

That said, could he not be the proverbial exception? That he really wanted to leave that environment? Just askin'

It's not like
an_idol_mind : 9/21/2016 8:31 am : link
similar things haven't been said by a dozen or so guys who left Washington.

Remember Lavar Arrington? The guy actually paid out a bunch of money to get out of his contract. That franchise is toxic.
Fiddy-Six: I didn't mean that post to be as cynical as it came off.

I'm sure he's sincere about that aspect. I just meant that a player with Keenan Robinson's injury history wouldn't be a strong candidate for big guaranteed dollars. He's investing 2016 in proving that he can stay healthy and productive through a full season. He'll still be 27 next March, so age isn't a big issue yet.

He might have been able to make a similar arrangement with Washington, but seems to have preferred the change of venue.
If you look at this organization

They have one good year and then tail spin:

1999 - NFC East Title - Next playoff appearance - 2005
2005 - Next playoff appearance - 2007
After 2007 - they made the playoffs in 2012 where they won the NFC East. They were the world beaters and collapsed until 2015...

What will happen now?

Sunday is a huge game. If they win, all this talk goes away. If they lose, they are 0-3, down 0-2 in division and already lost two home games.

Sounds like Washington

Snyder took ownership in 1999, correct?

Correct, good catch.
'big contract'
giants#1 : 9/21/2016 9:03 am : link
It could've been similar to the deal the Giants gave Casillas (3 yrs/$8M) or even JTT (3 yrs/$10M). But since he's been banged up, he probably felt he could get a lot more if he stayed healthy for a full season and it's not like the Giants offer is far below those (on a per year basis) since he's got a chance to earn $2.6M.

Do you recall if there are any incentives in his contract?

Fiddy-Six: He can earn an extra $350K by playing all 16 games.

He gets about $22K per game for dressing. The incentives represent about 13% of his deal - not huge, but significant.
Thank you

I don't like the talking aspect of the game especially
between games . But you have to consider how the Media
has taken the Josh Vs. Odell to a whole new level .
What Cruz said hardly warrants criticism .
Sunday will be yet another Big Test the Skins are
nearing panic mode and I expect to get there very best
come Sunday . Anyone that thinks this is a gimmie
is wrong .
On the other hand Eli & company could very well torch
this bunch and I would hope if they get up on them
early that they do not get complacent and finish
them off . At 0-3 the house of cards might well collapse .
I think Odell will be ready to dig deep for a little
extra on Sunday ..
this has all the signs of being a disappointing game for the Giants
Victor in CT : 9/21/2016 10:21 am : link
too much chatter by the Giants, nothing but negative reports coming out of Skins camp, 0-2 wounded animal coming in with their season on the line against their oldest and biggest rival. The Giants had better clean up their act and come out ready to play.

The good news is that the Giants hate the Skins more than we do..We're fucked anyway. FMiC put tge whammy on us this morning by saying Cousins has never beaten a .500 or better team..😢
Why oh why
blueblood'11 : 9/21/2016 11:25 am : link
Why give a team that is seemingly desparate already fuel to overcome their desparation when you have the opportunity to further deepen the whole they've dug for themselves. This has all the trappings of a team in need and willing to do whatever it takes to register a win.

Sometimes the amount of talent one teams has as opposed to another doesn't bear fruit. You have to believe they are going to come in on a mission to begin with. They better. Then you add even more motivation. Sometimes that's all it takes.

If I'm McAdoo I'm not happy and it will be intersting to see how he handles this.
Probably shouldn't have said this.

Klaatu : 9/21/2016 11:31 am : link
If the Giants don't beat the crap out of this team, it won't be because of what Keenan Robinson said. It will most likely be because the Giants shot themselves in the foot...repeatedly.
