He stayed in but was in obvious pain. The TB batter let his bat go all the way around and it hit Sanchez on the elbow. Seems to be OK though.

Just about nicked him with the tip of the bat. I'm sure he'll have a bruise.

They should just hand him $300 mill now and say we'll talk in 10 years......
Tanaka being interviewed -
Del Shofner : 9/21/2016 10:54 pm : link
talk about a guy looking pissed off at himself. He's a good guy - a lot of pride, and he did not like giving up 4 HRs in an inning. Said that was the first time it ever happened to him.
Is it true

lefty Snell pitching for TB tomorrow -
Del Shofner : 9/21/2016 11:10 pm : link
I expect Sanchez will DH with Romine behind the plate, esp. after Gary got a little dinged back there tonight.
No
Phil in LA : 9/22/2016 12:56 am : link
Torrens might be the more natural catcher, and is also a good hitter, but he doesn't have the light tower power GS does, and since GS has gotten in shape and worked so hard on his D, while Torrens has missed time to injuries, Sanchez has caught up with him defensively. And Higgy is the best defender of the bunch.

Thanks Phil. I seem to remember talk that Sanchez was just a placeholder (or something along that line) for Torrens. So maybe Torrens can be used as a major trade piece for SP over the winter. They still have Romine and Higgy behind Sanchez.

Sanchez is must see TV (knockwood).
WOW!
Victor in CT : 9/22/2016 8:57 am : link
Just WOW!! Sanchez now playing a game that we are not familiar with. He's been through a slump, teams have film and have faced him multiple times and he's getting tougher. Even the foul ball down third base line was scorched.
At Fangraphs, Sanchez is fifth in WAR among catchers
Greg from LI : 9/22/2016 9:18 am : link
even those he's only played a third of the games as the others
Torrens is a good catcher...
Dunedin81 : 9/22/2016 9:24 am : link
and a very good defensive catcher for his age and experience, but he didn't hit well in his return from injuries and it may take some time for him to get back on the same development track, IF he gets back there.

Higgy was such a pleasant surprise offensively this year.
