NFT: I want a REAL flashlight

I Love Clams Casino : 9/22/2016 11:39 am
I have one shelf in my garage where I keep all the flashlights. Every single one is chintzy plastic piece of crap. I want a reliable, well built hand held flashlight. I've seen the Infomercials with the one that they boil, freeze, has a ridiculous amount of lumens, etc etc, but 90% of stuff on infomercials is crap.

Whatcha got BBI?

maglite, feels like it would serve as a good weapon too, it's surprisingly heavy.

only have it for work, my boss oddly decided he needed me to have the "best" flashlight... I've used it maybe 5 times but it certainly is quality and yes pretty heavy.
I have a mini maglite, which acts as a portable candle

Mag light...had the same one for ever...

I thought about getting one a while back

my GF & I were moving from Denver back East and she had to stay behind to finish up work, so we were mostly apart for ~2 months. Only got laid a few times in that span (all on one visit back to D-town), so I figured what the hell...?

She was cool with it, but once I found out they're $100+, I said fuck that and made do with Pamela Handerson until my girl re-joined me in NY. Think I spend the $$ on weed instead.

eerily timely comment about the Maglite being a weapon. Watch the JonBonet special that CBS aired this week.

It's waterproof, corrosion resistant, and bright as hell. Not cheap, though.

74304 Strion LED Flashlight with DC Charger. $100, but worth every penny, IMO.
IF I was you Id get a rechargable battery
superspynyg : 9/22/2016 11:56 am : link
Streamlite is what most police use. LED is the brightest.
maglight is the best

environments and they use a Streamlight Nigh Com. You can find them on Amazon for $40. Buy two for the price of one. They take two Lithium CR123A batteries, are hand held and light weight, kick out 105 lumens and won't let you down.

I have this one sitting on my desk as we speak. Great flashlight.
I like the Duracell one available at Costco.

I have several fairly high end flashlights, but this is the one I like the best (and it's not anywhere near the most expensive). Lots of brightness levels including really low low. Only issue is that it takes CR123 batteries. If you want one that takes AA batteries, check out the Thrunite TN4A.

I have a rechargeable Mag-lite.

Bought it about 1985. Had a warranty for life come with it at the time. I got a few parts for it around 2005, which were free under the warranty. Still going strong. Actually needs a new battery now, which is not warrantied.
How about a thermos?
Bramton1 : 9/22/2016 2:03 pm : link
I'm picking out a thermos for you.
Not an ordinary thermos for you.
But the extra best thermos you can buy,
With vinyl and stripes and a cup built right in.
Oh, I'm picking out a thermos for you.
And maybe a barometer too.
So what else can I buy so on me you'll rely?
A rear-end thermometer, too?

Do you own one of the best of everything? Thermometers, Smokers, Flashlights, etc...you always have one, whatever it is...haha
try one of these

I guarantee them for life - - and if you send them a message in your order we will send you a free flashlight headband to go with it

Periodically a tree falls on a power line and my lights go out
Marty in Albany : 9/22/2016 3:44 pm : link
When that happens I'm wearing a Coleman LED headlamp.

Try reading a book or magazine holding a flashlight. Try changing a car tire holding a flashlight. Try doing anything that requires two hands holding a flashlight.

Sorry about the humongous big photo.
I live in the country
VTDAD : 9/22/2016 4:10 pm : link
So I need flashlights & spotlights.

I have many small LED flashlights in the house, garage, cellar.

Run on 3 AAA batteries, I buy bunches of them from COSTCO.
Nice & bright, but no matter how many I own, I can never find one when I
need it

My everyday spotlight is a Stanley Fat Max rechargeable. I use it to walk the dog at night and avoid the skunks & other interesting critters that live near us as well as to navigate an icy driveway on the way to get the morning paper.

I also have an adjustable Ryobi one that came with a tool kit. uses the same 18v rechargeable battery as my portable drill
I have tried most of the big brands and my favorite is Rayovac

They have a heavy duty outdoor flashlight that comes in a variety of sizes. I have a large one and a couple of small ones I always keep one with me when hiking or boating.

I have gone through a lot of others including Maglite and I think this one has been the best. It has been my go to flashlight for a number of years now.

Depending what you are looking for , you can get a high Lumen flashlight in any size.

Maglite is about 20 technologies behind. Yes...made in the USA. Besides that, they do not offer anything better than what others are making.
