Highest rated recruit on the roster?

Jay in Toronto : 9/22/2016 2:57 pm
SCOUT is running a feature with each NFL team's highest rated recruit when they came on out in HS.

Let's see some thoughts on that.

If you've read the article (and obviously don't look for it if you haven't) please don't spoil the fun for others.

I'll provide the link around 8pm tonight.

Enjoy.

I obviously can't guess cause I have read the article.

Think Devon Kennard was really highly touted out of high school

He was. So was Landon Collins (and his mother being pissed that Landon was going to 'Bama and not LSU). Eli is up there.

Rueben Randle was one of the highest recruits. He was like the second highest recruit in his class.
First name that jumps out is Landon Collins
Andy in Halifax : 9/22/2016 3:03 pm : link
but just because of the hilarious reaction of his mom at the announcement. Not happiness or pride... she was genuinely pissed of he didn't choose the LSU Tigers.
Eli Manning
Fred in Atlanta : 9/22/2016 3:04 pm : link
probably was very high

Oh shit I remember that. Didn't know that was Landon Collins
Eli was pretty high, but not five star if I remember correctly
Greg from LI : 9/22/2016 3:09 pm : link
A very good but not great recuit.

I'm guessing Collins.
From the last few years...
shockeyisthebest8056 : 9/22/2016 3:09 pm : link
- Landon Collins
- Rueben Randle
- Bobby Hart
- Eli Apple
- Will Hill
Rueben Randle from Wikipedia. Hahahaha
Anakim : 9/22/2016 3:10 pm : link
As one of the top-rated prospects in the nation, Randle was a consensus five-star prospect by all major recruiting services. Randle was considered a five-star recruit by Rivals.com,[3] as well as the No. 1 wide receiver prospect and the No. 2 overall prospect in the nation.[4] Randle had numerous scholarship offers, but on February 4, 2009 (National Signing Day), he committed to Louisiana State via letter of intent. He also considered Alabama, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Miami.[5]

“ Randle is an athlete that is a cross between A. J. Green and Julio Jones. He should have a similar impact at the next level."
Apple was up there but not a 5 star.
LauderdaleMatty : 9/22/2016 3:13 pm : link
And I usually follow Rivals and not Scout amd while they are often close they can vary

I actually remember Collins mom being pissed. Kind of worked out for him lol
My first thoughts were Eli, Beckham or Collins.
yatqb : 9/22/2016 3:14 pm : link
Gotta think of big school players. So Flowers, Apple, and Perkins would be in the mix too.

I'll go with Apple.
First Thought
GF1080 : 9/22/2016 3:15 pm : link
Kennard or Collins. What about Flowers?
Probably
armstead98 : 9/22/2016 3:24 pm : link
Marshall Newhouse
Now
HeftyLefty : 9/22/2016 3:37 pm : link
On current team Collins would of been my guess.

On team last few years, I'd say Will Hill for sure.

Can't be Newhouse...a TCU grad. Can't imagine they got many 5 star recruits.
Without googling
LI NHB : 9/22/2016 3:55 pm : link
I'll say Collins.
Slightly off-topic, since they aren't on the roster...
Big Blue Blogger : 9/22/2016 4:05 pm : link
...but I believe the highest-ranked recruits drafted by Jerry Reese were Rueben Randle (as mentioned previously), Rhett Bomar and Marvin Austin. Bahahahaha.

Current roster? My wild-ass guess is Odighizuwa.
Landon Collins is the obvious pick.
Big Blue Blogger : 9/22/2016 4:12 pm : link
And actually, he might have surpassed Bomar and/or Austin. That was an old piece of trivia about those two and Randle.
Eli Manning
GeorgeAdams33 : 9/22/2016 5:37 pm : link
or Sterling Shepard
It's Landon Collins
Kyle in NY : 9/22/2016 6:18 pm : link
He was top 10 overall.

Odell and Janoris were both top 50 guys nationally too

From 247, the most reliable recruiting rankings
Link - ( New Window )
Rashan Gary (top prospect of 2016)

Is apparently in the league of Jadeveon Clowney / Robert Nkdemiche as far as being ridiculous athletes with size, speed and strength.
John Jerry.

Duh.
A few backup QBs
Pete in MD : 9/22/2016 10:46 pm : link
are on that list. Ryan Mallet, Matt Barkley, Mark Sanchez. In think they were all the #1 prospect in the nation when they were in high school.
Sorry I'm late

Here we go:

Highest recruit - ( New Window )
It's gotta be Eli
DennyInDenville : 9/22/2016 11:55 pm : link
How can it not

Collins was a huge recruit tho
DennyInDenville : 9/22/2016 11:56 pm : link
That's true

Wonder why Randle doesn't give a fuck about football or why he never panned out. He looked good when he looked like he was trying
Before looking,
Mike from SI : 9/23/2016 1:22 am : link
I'm guessing DRC due to the pedigree and speed.
DRC went to Tennessee St.
Kyle in NY : 9/23/2016 1:26 am : link
Not many top recruits heading there.
I hadn't realized
Jay in Toronto : 9/23/2016 7:24 am : link
How highly rated Sanchez has been.
Recruiting ratings
RobCarpenter : 9/23/2016 7:27 am : link
Clearly don't translate to NFL success:

All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechly was a 3-star.

This is flawed logic. There are about an even amount of 4/5 stars as there are 2/3 star guys in the NFL

However, consider how many more 2/3 star guys there are. The percent of highly rated recruits making it to the NFL is exponentially higher.

Clowney and Nkdemiche wish they were Rashaan Gary. I heard from my siters husbands, best friend aunt who knows a guy that said JJ Watt asks Gary for advice.
Nice job
