Pretty awesome showing in the World Cup of Hockey. Lost all three games including tonight vs the Czech Republic powerhouse. Looked listless, unorganized, slow and boring.
But Ryan McDonagh was the leading scorer. So that's pretty cool.
Wait. That's not necessarily good, right?
Pathetic showing by the Americans.
You know, the bright side...
Gaudreau, Matthews, Gostisbehere, and Eichel would have been the top 4 scorers on the US team or close to it.
and the US coaching and GM choices were terrible.

It didn't seem like they were terribly interested in scoring. It was like Bobby Clarke put the team together...

Ok. Well those guys didn't make it either.
Are you saying the U.S. Would have moved on if the under 24 guys were there? With or without Torts?

the US is not Canada, so why treat the US like they're better than Russia, Sweden, Finland, and the Czech's and strip off all the under 24 players?

I'm saying if the US had all the American players like they should have, they had a better chance of advancing, and without Torts and in his place a coach like Lavy or Ron Wilson they might have even won the whole thing.
I do not think the US is a hockey powerhouse like Canada. considering them equals and stripping out the under 24 players from both seems unreasonable. I think the US is more like Russia, Sweden, Finland, and Czech Republic.

Yup. No problem with that pj. Sounds right to me.
Just a shame how this thing turned out. About as terrible as it could be.
true, Kessel wasn't and this is the type of setting perfect for him. International competitions and the playoffs, perfect for Kessel.

Right. They went all mucker/grinder types that Davisian drools over. Old time hockey!
If the pros are in the Olympics in two years I expect a pretty strong showing.
This wasn't only a failure of the roster building and the coaching and the players, it was a red flag to the state of USA Hockey and the failure to teach a cohesive style of team play that can win short tournaments.
USA hockey has no identity of playing style right now.
besides maybe "really want to beat Canada."

I definitely would have left fat ass at home, but I'm not just about muckers and grinders, I'm about the talented players that know when mucking and grinding is called for.
The worse ommisions with this roster were on the blueline, not a couple of forwards.
PUTTING TOGETHER THE NEXT GREAT USA HOCKEY ROSTER - ( New Window )
The players will change, but the system and the style of play should be consistent so players will step onto the team knowing what's expected.
Of course this tournament is only every few years, but between world Jr's, world championships, the Olympics and the world cup, there should be a consistent message for USA hockey.
Looking at the U20 Juniors, there was a great run in the mid 2000s at the WJC with gold in 04, 10 and 13 with 3 bronzes in the same span of years. It looked like the US was becoming a growing power, and the 13 team had players like Gaudreau, Trouba, Seth Jones, Ghost and Gibson among others. Yet that success has petered out with their best result being a bronze this year since the 2013 gold. These are the guys that should be on the current National Team instead of plodders like Kesler, Niskanen, etc. But...Lombard-Torts'd.
Something ain't right here. A common core coaching style would indeed be a way for the National program to get back to good instead of playing hunches and guys who "Old Time Hockey".

Even with your gummy bear high you still have a lucid thought every now and then. Or maybe it's the pot gummy bears that help.

I refuse to keep edibles in my house, they all look like things my kids would eat and not tell me. Until it was too late..
I smoke my pot the old fashioned way. Sneaking out back for a bowl when they're going to bed...
2. I was in Lone Tree Monday & Tuesday. Seems like a nice, growing area.

Cook creek stroll and bowl.
They know. They know everything. My wife smokes with me sometimes but she knows I need some space too. Hence our 15 year anniversary next year.
It's nothing new, so it's nothing I hide.
I do try to pretend I'm being stealthy, but nope.
She just rolls her eyes and looks for something around the house that suddenly needs doing..
Nips are still pointed up, ya fuckin guzzler. Cuttin blood diamonds.
Sweet Jesus. Google it or something. Insane.

Caught up on some games tonight. The young guns are exciting.
Vs Russia.
Canada has owned the 3rd period.
Why do you need him? You have Hamonic as your #1 RD
The Rangers and Devils will probably be all over Trouba.
BTW, Jacob Trouba > Adam Larsson. Fuck you, Edmonton. Taylor Hall for Trouba would've made more sense than Adam Larsson for Hall.
May not be something the Isle would give up since they have Hamonic but he would definitely make the defense a big strength
They need a LHD so if the Rangers want him, I'm afraid they might have to part with Skjei or Graves
