in addition to possibly not being in football shape, he's got that to contend with. I'd say we see Hart for at least 2 games if Newhouse isn't healthy.
The football-conditioning issue points strongly toward Hart.
If that weren't a concern, this would be a really good game to put a quality pass-protector like Beatty at RT, since Washington's best edge threat lines up primarily on that side.
Hart hasn't embarrassed himself when given the chance to play tackle, and he seems to have the tools. There just isn't much of a body of work to judge by. If he bombs, Beatty get the next shot. After him, there's Michael Ola on the practice squad. He has more NFL RT starts than anyone on the team other than Newhouse and Pugh.
as Sullivan continues to say Beatty is still acclimating himself to the system & getting himself in football shape, But,if Hart falters early, I wouldn't be surprised to see Beatty in.
The devil you know rather than the devil you don't.
Is that interesting? It's the depth chart - if he wasn't the best option, would they be starting him?
It's not so much the depth chart, but that the implication is that Newhouse with a gimpy ankle is still considered a better option than Hart or BBI's savior - Beatty.
I would highly suspect Hart. To me this is a little disappointing. Hart was given a shot to win the RT spot and came up short. Beatty is an unknown at this point, and though unlikely, he remains the last chance this team has for any possible upgrade at the RT position this year. Newhouse standing atop the mountain is not particularly encouraging.

Not sure limited reps at ORT constitutes, "coming up short," do you? Too, he's learning from one of the better OL Coaches in the business. I need more of a sample size
Beatty was the left OT and Flowers was moving to the right side - and that FINALLY Reese had done something to address the OL woes.
LOL ... hahahahaha
Who is this BBI you speak of? If it's not a poster somewhere, then I don't know what to tell you, since that certainly wasn't the consensus (or even a particularly popular) opinion here.
RE: What is going on? BBI told me the day Beatty was signed that

Interested as I am in seeing Beatty in a return, I think you hit the nail on the head about Hart.

I trust you realize my inclusion of moving Flowers was just a bit of hyperbole ... that my true sarcasm is directed at just how bat-shit crazy BBI went within seconds of the announcement Beatty had been signed how the OL issues had been "solved" ... that Beatty having gone unsigned so long was simply a ploy between he and the Giants - that because there were other teams interested in him was proof that he was "back" ... there wasn't any question he would return to a starting role - the only question was what position he would play.
BBI brings such comedy to life, it is truly a thing of joy to watch when it gets wound it and spins out of control like a child's top.

Absolutely as long as he is in game shape.

Newhouse is still the best option

Seriously, I agree I'd like Beatty in IF he's ready. I think it will a long day if Hart is there. I'd keep the TE in to chip / help a lot.

He is probably my most underrated Giant ever. Never get the notoriety but always did his job.
