- According to Adam Rubin, Noah Syndergaard has been scratched from Saturday's start. Has strep throat. Sean Gilmartin will start. (You can't make this shit up. )
- Terry Collins said the hope is that Noah Syndergaard can be slotted back into the rotation Monday or Tuesday -- not miss a full turn. Of course, that disrupts Syndergaard being lined up for the Oct. 5 wild-card game. Collins noted that the Mets need to qualify for the postseason first. "Right now, in our situation, we can't worry about Oct. 5," Collins said. Collins added that if the Mets are fortunate to clinch before the final series in Philadelphia, Syndergaard or Bartolo Colon can be held back for the wild-card game.
And G-d forbid they have a 12-1 blowout and let guys like Verrett pitch stress-free
And G-d forbid they have a 12-1 blowout and let guys like Verrett pitch stress-free
Terry has to stop using guys for one out in the 6th and 7th. You burn out everyone that way.

And don't figure to get much rest today or tomorrow, between Ynoa and Gilmartin.

+1
He's like a 4 year old on Christmas Day. All these new toys to play with! Play with one for 2 minutes, toss it aside. Then another, toss it aside....
Per Gary Cohen on tonight's pregame
You got it! Mike is back! I like that he and Nimmo are always together learning. Just don't get the strep from Syndergaard
Seriously?
Damn it Smoker
So Collins continued to play a horrid Bruce way too long while keeping raging hot Conforto glued to the bench until he FINALLY benches the bum and now he deserves credit because Conforto is hitting? Come on, man. We were starved for offense but he just couldn't help but keep trotting out Bruce. No, he doesn't get credit.
It's maddening.
Now, he is going to wind up using three pitchers in the inning and most likely give up the lead anyway
Watch Robles walk in a run
So that's been his master plan all along, huh? Definitely outsmarted everyone else then.
Phew. Joseph hit it hard too and was out by ten steps at first base
I assume Blevins is going ninth
Now, he is going to wind up using three pitchers in the inning and most likely give up the lead anyway
Even worse - no double switch so Robles is due up 4th
Lol...

In a surprise move, Terry is going to bring out Jay Bruce to pitch the 8th.

Just leave Goeddel in.

Oops - 6th. Never mind...
Big insurance runs.
Fingers crossed...
LOL
They should sit Reyes and Cespedes too,
Save Salas and Blevins arms
Oops - Pads up (and won) 7-2.
Nice to have a one game lead on spot #1...
The rub here, is that I also want the Mets to get in, so rooting against the Cards (especially since they are always the early game) is beneficial towards the first goal of the Mets getting in.
The real wild card here, which would be awesome, is if the Giants and Cards tie, requiring them to pitch their first options in that game and leaving us with the 2nd tier pitcher.
So what say you BBI? You rolling the dice on the mets actually being able to advance to the NLDS with your rooting interests or just making sure they get in?
The Shark would be the Giants', if Cueto cannot go.

Reynolds has not gotten a start in a while so if Asdrubal Cabrera is out, I could see Reynolds getting the start at SS. I also could see Plawecki getting a start at some point.

Anyway, Cubs-Cardinals game 2 will be on Fox at 1 pm Today if anyone is interested
Gary Cohen brought up the question would the Cubs take it easy on the Cards for that very reason.
But apparently not last not.

are 2-5 against the Mets this season. Hmm

Cubs were perfect in the regular season against Mets last year. Cubs may limit pitch counts, but you want your starters in rhythm for the playoffs.
No Cespedes means no playoffs, even with Fulmer.
He wouldve been DLed now by as a Met
Make it and cross your fingers and hope for the best. Then the offseason is focused on the failure, but the 'what could have been' if the team would have just stayed healthier.
Maybe not if Noah goes then
Let Montero go 100 pitches.. Hes stretched out enough.
Take everyone out. Put the kids and Jay Bruce in there
Tomorrow is a must win. Get some sleep Gsellman
Nope. We have to get them fresh for tomorrow and next week.
Saving him for the epic walk off!!

sure is buried deep on that bench

Gotta play your best lineup

Do you reward all the kids with a start? Reward the effort and production? Or is Bruce starting instead?
Gotta play your best lineup
So thekids it is
Or start Rivera or KJ at 1B and Cecchini at 2B
Pads tied 6-6 with the Giants, 8th inning
Hope that strep improves.
Cecchini looks like a teen
