This will probably bite us in the ass, like most things the Cards do, but I personally give us a 10% chance of beating Bumgartner and at least a 60% chance of beating Martinez. It is obviously no secret the Mets struggle against lefties, and even more so when they have the history and talent of Bumgartner.

The rub here, is that I also want the Mets to get in, so rooting against the Cards (especially since they are always the early game) is beneficial towards the first goal of the Mets getting in.

The real wild card here, which would be awesome, is if the Giants and Cards tie, requiring them to pitch their first options in that game and leaving us with the 2nd tier pitcher.

So what say you BBI? You rolling the dice on the mets actually being able to advance to the NLDS with your rooting interests or just making sure they get in?

Can go with Bumgarner and Cueto. Neither of whom the Mets have done well with in recent years. I would rather face St. Louis versus Martinez than San Francisco against their #2

Reynolds has not gotten a start in a while so if Asdrubal Cabrera is out, I could see Reynolds getting the start at SS. I also could see Plawecki getting a start at some point.

Cubs were perfect in the regular season against Mets last year. Cubs may limit pitch counts, but you want your starters in rhythm for the playoffs.

Team is almost like the 06 team where you really didn't have any healthy starters outside of glavine and I guess Maine.

Finishing a game short and the only focus all off season will be on all the what ifs and missed opportunities.

Make it and cross your fingers and hope for the best. Then the offseason is focused on the failure, but the 'what could have been' if the team would have just stayed healthier.
