(1) At the time, I didn't care who won last week's Dallas/Washington game, but in retrospect I sorta wish Washington came away with a "W." Now their backs are up against the wall and that's always a dangerous situation to be in home or away;
(2) Washington's offensive line was very impressive last season, and they continue to be so this season. If we had last season's front 4 playing tomorrow, I wouldn't be feeling so good. But this year's front 4 can hold its own, but there's a huge caveat: Olivier Vernon! Throughout the preseason and first game of year, he was an F-ing beast. Last week -- with a hand injury -- he sorta disappeared. Which Oliver Vernon comes out tomorrow?
(3) Missing our rookie human torpedo at Safety, Darian Thompson, is a big loss in a big game. Washington has a very talented receiver / TE corp and I would feel a lot better with Thompson directing traffic on the back line;
(4) Ryan Kerrigan has lit up the Giants and has thrown Eli Manning around like a rag doll. The #1 way to "handle" this guy is to run straight at him and let him know the run game is coming his way;
(5) And speaking of the run game, Washington doesn't exactly scare teams with their run defense, but the Giants won't do very much on the ground if their running backs run parallel to the line of scrimmage. The Giants are simply NOT built to get to a soft corner and the sight of ANY of their linemen on a long pull is just plug ugly. Run between the tackles, keeping our running backs within a 45 degree angle, and we should be fine;
(6) I don't believe for a moment this game will start out with the Giants roaring out of the gate... much more likely the other way. So long as Giants do not let this game get away from them quickly, they should be fine and their overall talent on both sides of the ball will tell in the end;
(7) But that may all depend on Bob McAdoo and how he performs in his third game as a head coach! His #1 job IMO (outside of just winning tomorrow)... convince his players that they are walking into a cage with a wounded animal. Withstand the initial charge and then administer the coup de grace. Quickly.
New York Giants 24
Washington Redskins: 20
You may have missed the final score musing.
He played basketball in the NBA and then became an NFL coach!
(;-)
Didn't he have a pick six against Eli?
So, did he throw Eli around like a rag doll on the INT, or are you just trying to remember shit that didn't happen?

I seem to recall several sacks by him and lots of buzzing Eli in the pocket.

Led the NBA in scoring in 1974 (I think). Also played on the Knicks. Great frontline with McAdoo and Spencer Hayward.
I am more worried about whomever is covering Reed.
Not as many tackles and sacks as I thought. In his 5-year career, his PER GAME average against the Giants is 3 tackles and 1/2 sack.
the guy's been outstanding vs. the run, and while he's not piling up sacks he's gotten pressure and drawn a few key holding calls.
He's earning his money, don't worry bout that
I'm still happy DC lost to Dallas. The Giants are home, have beaten the crap out of DC in MetLife, and have the chance to make their football lives miserable. What a great opportunity.
You're a very simple person.
Ben not Bob
Vernon was part of Spags defensive scheme to confuse Brees falling into coverage.
Don't these frustrated losers realize those posts reflect on them and not on the OP. Same thing with "pessimistic" the OP is anything but, and it's another example of a loser trying to get attention and empowerment through a Put Down.
A great NBA player

Good job, nimrod. You chime in on the diss of the OP for fucking up McAdoo's name yet you called Spencer HAYWOOD Spencer Hayward.
Alrighty then.

(1) Agreed
(2) Agreed
(3) I think Behre is a human torpedo in his own right. I like Darian Thomson more for his ability to track the ball. I worry less about a player like Desean getting behind the defense with him in the game. Behre seems pretty good to me at taking on anything in front of him. Also I think it's more Collins that sets up the backfield and he's doing a great job of that. IMHO.
(4) I'm someone who thinks this team needs a lot more passing than running to be successful. However, I agree with you here. Even if the run isn't successful you have to make Kerrigan respect that you might run the ball. They also need to have the RBs and TEs help. Even if their blocks are bad (TE's I'm looking at you), every little chip will help. Maybe allowing him a free release on a designed screen over his head will make him think twice too.
(5) Not really running at Kerrigan if it's between the tackles but a run game would be nice none the less.
(6) I don't know. If they could start out fast it will let the air out of the sails quickly. Cousins is already under a lot of pressure based off what's been said and his performance last week. Tighten the vice and I think he will crack. He's no Eli Manning.
(7) Eh. I think that's been done. MacAdoo said even after the Boys game to stay humble (post game locker room speech). I don't think the team has lost any of it's intesity. This a big division game that gives them a good hold in the division AND could put a rival in a deep hole. A win here almost pushes the Redskins out of their concerns altogether. Also lot's of quality leadership on this team (former team captains). Much improved from year's ago IMHO. They know the costs.
(Extra) In the Giants favor is that they have dominated the Skins at home for years now. Cousins has only had 1 good game against them. If the offense cleans up the drops and fumbles, this should be an easy game and the rest of the season will be exciting to watch. I really do think they could be undefeated at the bye IF the offense cleans things up.
