I actually like Bobby Rainer more as a runner, though he is more prone to fumbles.

Didn't know how to use him properly anyway.

He can do some of the same things Vereen can. I don't think this will hurt that bad.

He was. And then they released him.

Darkwa start to get more of the early down work and use Jennings a bit more on 3rd down.

injury to starting WR or core OL would be much worse. Vereen's skill set can be replaced, I think.

That really hurts. Hopefully Jennings can go on Monday, but even if he's 100%, that's a really tough loss. Darkwa's shown some promise at times, he'll certainly have an opportunity now.

I don't meant to sound insensitive towards Vereen or his injury but there are still three capable backs on the roster. Its actually a fairly solid group. And if Perkins can get ready to go, that makes it even better.

Sucks for Vereen, but as far as injuries to team depth are concerned - it could be a lot worse.

put me in the camp of those who think this is a big blow. Could be worse, but he is an integral part of our offense and provides for real flexibility in the play calling. Damn it again!

I'm okay with him getting more work. There's no replacing what Vereen can do as a route runner though, I don't think.

But the fumbles were a problem for a player who gets that much usage.

I think we'll see more Darkwa now. Paul Perkins will also have to get some carries now too. He's got great potential, but needs work. Rainey is going to have to pick up the slack in the receiving department. No denying it's a loss to the offense, but it's got to be next man up now and they have to move on.

but looking at his career, he's not a habitual fumbler. The odds of the fumbling continuing for the remainder of the season were pretty slim.

I am not totally adverse to the idea of running with Will Tye as the lone setback, plus an in-line TE and (ODB,VIC,Shep).

There is a heck of a lot you can do with that, both pass and pass protection wise, and Will T. can even run it on occasion from back there as a change up.

One figures will tye is built right for pass pro from back there, and Manning has proven what he can do if comfortable in the pocket. Tye can scoot and catch, that is a proven, and all that gives you 5 players who can do so, with two additional pass protectors .

here we had Vereen with a major triceps injury. Want to use him as a decoy? Fine. Instead we force a pass to him on 1st and 10 that gets intercepted.

This one's like an onion - the more layers you peel, the more it stinks.
