seeing him live is a noticeable difference in his acceleration. Still a very good WR but not what he was
Cruz was never a burner, never. He is/was fast enough (4.5 40?), but his separation was quickness out of cuts and being able to read the DBs weakness. Remember it was a different offense. He could make whatever cut was necessary to gain separation and Eli was on the same page.
Now he has a route to run - more defined than his last offense.
against the Saints, he looked like the Cruz down the stretch of the 2011 season. Would like to get him more involved, when he touches the ball it gives our team a positive emotional lift.
The idea that anyone can judge his speed compared to two years ago
He seemed to have lost a step IMO coming into the 2014 season. I remember a bunch of others saying this as well. I would say he's 90-95% what he was in 2014, not 2011 a 2013.
They may still be holding him back just a tad as well who knows.
he looks as fast as when he first broke out, but no one could have expected that. So far, it's basically been the best case scenario for him. He's still a legit good WR, and a weapon.
Despite the tough loss on Sunday, the sky is the limit for this team because of the matchup nightmares we have at WR.
In his first 3 years,Victor Cruz had more 78 or longer tds than any receiver in the NFL.He had more than the next 2 receivers combined.
I think Victors athleticism is grossly underrated by many Giant fans.Cruz ran a 10.8 100 meters in high school.Cris Collinsworth said he has the quickest feet of any wide receiver he has ever seen and Victor has extraordinary leaping ability.
Cruz was never caught from behind when he was at full speed, until his last year.Victor had a very debilitating injury, and i doubt he increased his speed. When he is healthy,he is the quintessential game breaker.
IDK - maybe all the rehabbing, stretching and lifting improved his quick twitch muscles?
I was hoping for some semblance of anything that would get him back on the field. He has exceeded to an extent that a freakin movie should be made.
But does he look faster?
You worry about his ability to cut and shift gears, not pure speed which is based largely on strength and technique.

That's all that matters....

Geez... of all the things wrong with NYG he certainly is NOT one of them.
