lol ... good for him.
Del Shofner : 9/27/2016 9:56 am : link
He acknowledged it might be his last and said (paraphrasing) the BJs do the bat flip so why not him.
Take that!!

You should have thrown at me!;-).
he also yelled "BLOWN SAVE!" at Grilli from the dugout

Toronto is completely and thoroughly unlikeable.

When it's used to show up the clowns in Toronto? Absolutely.

Last night in that spot yes. Tonight vs. Boston or any other team for that matter nope.
JA Happ a 20-game winner.

What a country Canada must be.
What made that awesome was that it's so unlike him
Heisenberg : 9/27/2016 10:27 am : link
team was hot tempered last night. I hope this brings them to life a bit as they play out the string.
Exactly.
davek3698 : 9/27/2016 11:09 am : link
Ortiz does the flip frequently. Tex did it to try and be a dick. Otherwise, very out of character for him and the majority of ballplayers as well, for that matter.
Glad he did it,

ef the Blue Jays and their showboating bullshyte.

I was just praying that they did not blow that lead. Wow would that have been bad.
Toronto is an unlikeable team...
Dunedin81 : 9/27/2016 11:39 am : link
Donaldson is a bitch. Got grazed on his elbow pat and took umbrage. Happ was willing to come out in the 2nd inning of an important game to retaliate. Russell Martin picking a fight with Gary Sanchez after Martin caught and presumably called the two pitches to Headley was rich. And Joey Bats is Joey Bats.
It's funny
bignygfan : 9/27/2016 12:28 pm : link
In theory we need the BJs to sweep the O's and us to do damage in this Boston series in order to have a puncher's chance at the weekend.
Good for Tex
mfsd : 9/27/2016 1:23 pm : link
Sorry to see his time winding down...I mean, his body's failed him the last few years and ability wise it's time for him to go, but he's been a good Yankee, and never let his declining ability at the plate keep him from playing a stellar first base.

Tex/Cano/Jeter/ARod in 2009 is likely the best infield in baseball history
Love how Teix did that

Last nights game was a meaningless classic of epic proportions

Amazing how true that statement might be.

One could make a fair argument for the Big Red Machine of course. I would also say the circa 2004 Rangers infield of Tex/Soriano/Young/Blalock is one of the best in recent memory
This pic is great
Vin R : 9/27/2016 3:49 pm : link
well, let's see
Greg from LI : 9/27/2016 4:03 pm : link
2009 Yankees:

C - Posada, .285/.363/.522, 22 homers
1B - Teixeira, .292/.383/.565, 39 homers
2B - Cano, .320/.352/.520, 25 homers
SS - Jeter, .334/.406/.465, 18 homers, 30 steals
3B - ARod, .286/.402/.532, 30 homers, 14 steals

1975 Reds:

C - Bench, .283/.356/.518, 28 homers
1B - Perez, .282/.350/.466, 20 homers
2B - Morgan, .327/.466/.508, 17 homers, 67 steals
SS - Concepcion, .274/.326/.353, 5 homers, 33 steals
3B - Rose, .317/.406/.432, 7 homers

It's awfully close, but I'm taking the Yankees. For those two seasons, the Reds have the best individual player in Morgan, but the gap between Jeter and Concepcion is huge and the gap between ARod and Rose is pretty big, too. Bench is a solid edge to the Reds and Tex is a solid edge for the Yankees. Yanks come out on top at 3 of 5 positions, and by a huge amount at SS.

Joaquin Benoit has a torn calf. Devon Travis has a shoulder injury. Both stemmed from last night's benches clearing brawl. Not smart.
i don't celebrate injuries
RasputinPrime : 9/27/2016 5:31 pm : link
but the BJs aren't owed any favors.

I guess Benoit tore it

while running in from the bullpen? Sorry, but that's freaking hilarious.
All bc Donaldson got his panties in a knot

After getting dinged in his elbow pad. What a team leader

PEDS
I wish injuries on no one...
Dunedin81 : 9/27/2016 7:46 pm : link
But the irony of his getting hurt in a brawl that had everything to do with Donaldson being a bitch is amazing. And how fucking stupid can the Jays be? In a competitive postseason race their 20 game winner is retaliating in the second inning for a pitch that grazed Donaldson's elbow protector.
