Should the Giants have some interest in Karlos Williams?

Mike in Long Beach : 9/27/2016 1:23 pm
Put up very impressive numbers last year for Buffalo as a rookie. 11 games, 517 yards at a 5.6 YPC clip, and scored 9 touchdowns (combined rushing and receiving).

He tied the NFL record for consecutive games with a touchdown to start a career (6 games).

But he showed up to camp out of shape this year and then got suspended for 4 games for violating the substance abuse policy. Buffalo cut him. His suspension ends after this week and we're all of a sudden pretty thin at running back.

Worth a look?

He showed up more than out of shape:

Big back

Might be good for short yardage and goal line. Wouldn't hurt to see what kind of shape he's in.
Does he sound like a professional worth investing in?
JonC : 9/27/2016 1:29 pm : link
Not in my view.
Wouldn't that depend on his conditioning?

Just asking...

lmao
We've seen players bounce back after worse things than this.

I'd take a flier
worth a look
YAJ2112 : 9/27/2016 3:56 pm : link
but not likely until his suspension is up.
He wasn't bad last year

Wouldn't hurt considering the injury situation.
great player
WillieYoung : 9/27/2016 4:38 pm : link
But if Rex Ryan gives up on you, I don't want you. He was slated for qa big roll this year with the Bills and pissed it away.
He was also a 23 year old rookie.

Man this place cracks me up.

When Karlos Williams signs with the Patriots and helps them win another Super Bowl - you'll be saying Reese was asleep at the wheel.
yes
djm : 9/27/2016 5:02 pm : link
because the Pats routinely sign guys that ate themselves out of the NFL.
Damn...
BamaBlue : 9/27/2016 5:04 pm : link
it's the Nutty Professor in pads!
I wonder what really went on with Karlos, dude is certainly talented
David in LA : 9/27/2016 5:26 pm : link
He went on a eating binge, because he was eating with his wife while she pregnant. I'm not sure if I'm buying that, seems like he might need a sports psychologist. When you're too much for Rex Ryan, that's a huge red flag for me.
I don't see why not at all
Sonic Youth : 9/27/2016 6:23 pm : link
Karlos is actually a player who can be a long time fit. Who was the last player we got mid season that was a long term part of the team? Hixon? Devin Thomas?

I think it's definitely worth a look. He's by far the best out of the RBs out there, and IMO beats bringing back Andre Williams.
Major character

concerns. Its not just the suspension. Look into what this kid was up to at FSU.

No one said or insinuated the Patriots routinely sign guys that ate themselves out of the NFL. Don't be weird.
Anyone who thinks Bellicheck would sign this guy
WillieYoung : 9/28/2016 10:44 am : link
hasn't been paying attention for the last 15 years.
How is this..
FatMan in Charlotte : 9/28/2016 10:49 am : link
even remotely true?

The dude hasn't gone a stretch longer than a year where he doesn't suffer a major injury, have a run-in with the law or get suspended.

Add being out of shape as a young up and coming player, and what exactly about this guy gives ANY indication he'll be a long-time fit. You're talking about a guy who is suspended right now.

You kinda did. And I guess my point is more applied to this notion that the Pats sign anyone cut or disgraced from the NFL. It's not just your post. Every time some guy gets cut someone says the Pats will sign him and win the move.

maybe you would. But you'd throw it in the trash at the next corner.
He had 11 catches for 2 TDs last year...
BamaBlue : 9/28/2016 11:28 am : link
and he can block. Use him as a TE... could he be much worse than Donnell or Tye?
