No - we aren't booing you because you play for the Sox. We boo you because we can't stomach the way you are propped up as something you are not and elevated well beyond your station.
Listening to Ravech and Sutcliffe is the fifth circle of hell
Big thumbs up to Tommy Layne too for giving up a homer to the corpse of Aaron Hill.
What going half way is stupid? Betts misplayed the ball and had to reach behind to catch it. From the field it looks like he missed it. Not much he could do.
You want to know what was stupid? Having Austin 30 ft off the line and having a routine grounder turn into an rbi single.
to find a rhythm before Teix got back and they brought in Billy Butler. It has to be hard when you don't get regular reps. These kids will take some patience.
No. I was referring to the last out of the inning when Didi went to his knee to get the out at 2nd and his 2nd baseman wasn't covering. Simple force play that turned into a throw to first from Didi because 2nd was .
Huh? He is cutoff on balls to right field and Didi should be covering second. (presuming you are talking about Pedroia's single.)

Wrong - Didi never looked at 2nd. He was going 1st all the way with Ortiz strolling to 1st..He could have rolled it there.
Toronto Blue Jays reliever Joaquin Benoit suffered a torn left calf and will miss at least the rest of the regular season after he tripped coming out of the bullpen during one of two benches-clearing incidents against the New York Yankees on Monday night.
Did he double clutch to 2nd? No. Did he look to 2nd? No. Did you see him look surprised? No. He fielded the grounder and just flipped it to 1st without hesitation. Ortiz wasn't half way down the line when Austin caught it. Don't look for issues when there isn't one.

2nd baseman's job to cover the base on a simple force out. What are you Castro's agent? I have no agenda with Castro, but he fell asleep on that play. Deny all you want.

dune69 just re-watched the play. Didi was about 5 feet left of 2nd. Castro was half way to 1st (shift for Ortiz) and no where near 2nd. Didi never looked at 2nd. He fielded the ball and just flipped to 1st in one motion. As the camera pans toward 1st you can see Castro is 40 ft from 2nd.
You can believe what you want to believe, but Didi went directly to 1st - with Ortiz running it was the easiest play. It was the only play.
the reason I don't spend a lot of time thinking about David Ortiz comes in the concluding line of that article:
"the rest of us should feel confident in this truth: David Ortiz is a jerk."
Like all jerks, he's not worth the time it takes to think about him. The most interesting aspect of his case is how he flunked the same test as others, like A-Rod, but nothing happened. Besides that curious fact, couldn't care less.

I just rewatched it too. I see Castro was off 2nd, not by 40 feet, but he was not that close and made no move toward 2nd on the ground ball. However, Didi made a good enough throw to get slow Papi when Austin one hopped it. Thank god it wasn't Bradley running. But to end the argument, I will relent to your position. I have cheered for Castro all year but he scares me in the field.
the best, most truthful article EVER written. Fraudulent David Ortiz - ( New Window )
Nicely written. What did he do to escape the wrath of MLB?
We will never know the full scope of what went on behind the scenes with MLB vs ARod, but MLB had guys running around Latin America with suitcases of cash looking to find ARods PED source...nobody ever bothered to track down Ortiz's PED history. And for years, Ortiz was training in the offseason in the Dominican with ARods cousin, the same one who was outed as ARods source
Did anyone notice that he didn't even bother to leave the batter's box on the high pop to short right? How about when he jogged--I guess you could call it that--down to 1B on the routine infield grounder? Dan Shaughnessy has an article today proclaiming that Ortiz will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, but yet the guy is too lazy to run to first base on flyouts and grounders even when he sits on the bench for half the game anyway? You would never see a guy like Pedroia lacking hustle.
Combined with he fact that he got off scot-free for failing a drug test (and the promise to "gather information" and get back to us was lame and OJ-esque) as well as all the temper tantrums, I find it amazing that he gets so much praise.
Didn't really get that one - only went about 405 ft!
Yep, he'll get 2nd to the pitcher in Detroit.
Doesn't matter though. We'll ride the momentum into next Spring. Lots to get excited about and we finally have a hyped prospect almost lap the hype.
Interesting spin-o-rama catch by Hicks there.
So good.
So disappointing.
I pay the $85 to get it online from MLB just to avoid schmucks.
How did I know you would make a comment?

Got scratched under the eye in the skirmish last night. Think RAB had something about it.

So, the Jays fight like girls? Unsurprising. Just like The Big Phony when he scratched Tanyon Sturtze.
