With Francesa set to leave WFAN in 15 months, I'm curious to see who BBI thinks will replace him and where Mike will end up. Francesa has stated that he will continue broadcasting but it won't be at the FAN for 5.5 hours a day.
My best guess- Evan Roberts + a guy from outside the station. Brandon Tierney, Greg Giannotti or maybe a former athlete. I think they leave Benigno solo in the midday or maybe bringing in John Jastremski to pair with him.
As for Mike, I see him doing a show on the radio that mixes sports/ politics/ finance/ news for 3 hours a day. Whether this is a local NY show or on Sirius. I can't see him going the podcast route.
What do you guys think?
jk.

Make it happen.
Obviously you want people to smash their radios.
Fact of the matter is, there isn't going to be some great, grand answer right off the bat when he leaves WFAN. They're going to go through a period of transition, most likely. I honestly don't know who or what the right answer is. There aren't alot of options, either. I like Kim Jones. But she's not the answer, either. Evan Roberts? Absolutely not.
To your point, had a 20 minute drive this afternoon and just heard some guy call in and ask Mike if he thought the Mets should cut Jay Bruce and call up Tim Tebow...clearly calling as a joke, and Mike got all pissy about someone wasting his time. Classic!

to learn about sports? I think 90% of his appeal is the unique comedy of when he kibbitzes with people he should hang up on, and angrily berate and hang up on people to whom he should listen. It's the greatest. My friends who come in from out of town can't believe it, and can't get enough of it. Then, there's the hundreds of people who try to get through everyday just to insult him or say dirty words on the air, for youtube fame. It turns the call-in show into a sport in and of itself. Not sure who is haughty and oblivious enough to fill those shoes.

And I can't think of anybody who can do that with the same obliviousness. I'd have hope for Evan, only because he's from the younger generation and grew up listening to senile, bitter Mike and MadDog

What's funny about it? It's a stupid call and a waste of everyone's time, unfair to the people on hold with legit questions.

unfair to a hundred other people waiting on hold to ask Mike about the Mets playoff chances? It's not like he cost someone the chance to ask Mike to reveal the secret of the universe or something.
Or they're waiting to ask a question about the Rangers' upcoming season only to be dismissed because Mike doesn't take hockey calls in September.
Considering the class and respect with which Mike treats his callers, it's really outrageous that anyone would dare waste his valuable time
It's incredible how you've heard the same tired voices for like 30 years.

Mike sucks, that illiterate fool Benigno sucks, etc etc
WFAN can go away today and the sports world would not miss them.
If they want to get people listening again to AM radio and not Sirius, then they will need some celeb type of hosts. Boomer is not good enough to hold it all together.
I disagree...I really look forward to my morning and post work drives because of WFAN. It might not be must listen radio but it's entertaining.
Ryan, I do understand and respect your personal preference. I used to listen to it also. I get the connection to your commute because when I had a job that required commuting, I was also a creature of radio habit. What I can tell you is this.... If you listened to Sirius NFL Radio on your drive in (Bob Papa / Ross Tucker) and then on the way home (Jim Miller and Pat Kirwin), you will NEVER go back to WFAN
Neither can a complete a sentence. Russ can't speak and Jodi speaks like the mic is under his tongue.
That would work
1) Boomer and Carton for AM Drive
2) Joe and Evan for mid day.
So, following that logic, the Sports Pope gets replaced by:
