I think spike was being facetious? If he was important to the Giants, he would have been protected by putting him on the 53 and making him inactive on gamedays..I'm sure they could have placed someone else from the roster (who was less likely to be swept up) onto the PS if necessary

this shows that Reese had signed a talented and desirable guy to the PS.

He started 19 games for the Bears and Lions, and was something of a surprise cut in both places. He seems to have fallen victim somewhat to regime change in Chicago (he had followed Trestman from Canada) and an ill-timed injury in Detroit. Because it took him so many years to make his way to the NFL, he was too old for either team to keep him around for long-term potential. He's probably decent depth, though. Personally, I'm glad to have Hart and Beatty as the third and fourth OTs.

He might be alright for the NASCAR package and situational pass rushing, but I doubt the team can tie up a roster spot for him.
