Met Life crowd control

I Love Clams Casino : 9/28/2016 10:48 am
I was wondering if anybody had any comments or complaints -

A friend went to the game on Sunday was in the 7th level (blue seats) and says that he wasn't allowed to buy drinks at concession, people were prevented from going to their seats, etc?

Anybody have similar experience or hear anything like this?

crowd control
Giants86 : 9/28/2016 10:51 am : link
whats the 7th level blue seats?
all the seats are gray and the upper level are the 300s.
Anyway I saw no problem with anything as far as crowd control issues etc.
I don't understand
djm : 9/28/2016 10:53 am : link
why wasn't he allowed to buy drinks? Crowd control? More info...
Were they trying to buy...
Chris in Philly : 9/28/2016 10:54 am : link
alcohol after the cutoff? Every stadium does that...
They stopped serving around
ryanmkeane : 9/28/2016 10:55 am : link
midway through halftime...as far as crowd control I didn't experience any of that in section 305..pretty much business as usual and easy to get to and from the seats.
I went to the home opener
ron mexico : 9/28/2016 10:55 am : link
no issues.

I could buy beer till they shut down sales at the end of halftime. Never stopped from going to my seats. No unruly fan issues that I saw at all.
I am not sure what 7th level blue means
upstatenyg : 9/28/2016 10:55 am : link
there are 3 levels, unless you are counting boxes, etc.

I know for Jets games they have an alcohol free section on level 200 called the family zone, I have never heard this for the Giants.

That said, I think that security has wide discretion to tell vendors to hold off on alcohol sales, or temporarily have people stand in an area instead of going to their seats.

I think it has been discussed in another thread, that some folks feel that the stadium has gotten rowdier or more full of drunks lately.
yea the no beer thing
djm : 9/28/2016 10:58 am : link
has been going on for probably 20 years now. Maybe longer. I assumed Clams was saying some unforeseen event stopped beer sales at a certain location but I never heard of any 7th level shit at met life.
And people...
Chris in Philly : 9/28/2016 11:07 am : link
can be stopped from going to their seats if a play is in progress. Another very common thing. But maybe uncommon things rule the day on the mythical 7th level of MetLife...
I have no idea what you mean by "7th level" and "blue seats"
NYGmen58 : 9/28/2016 11:09 am : link
The stadium has 3 tiers and none of the seats are blue.

Had your friend ever been to a game before?

I also don't know what you're referring by "crowd control". If a particular fan was out of control or appears overtly intoxicated, the Event Staff can have him/her removed.

Again, I have no idea what you're talking about.

I will say this
terz22 : 9/28/2016 11:13 am : link
Takes almost 20 minutes to get out of the stadium. Such a poorly designed stadium.
and in typical BBI fashion
djm : 9/28/2016 11:17 am : link
the odds that we ever get an answer to these agonizing questions are slim to none.
I have no idea what a "7th level" nor "blue seats" at Metlife
micky : 9/28/2016 11:20 am : link
even means? Was there both home games and neither saw nor heard any problems
I was there...Section 337
That’s Gold, Jerry : 9/28/2016 11:20 am : link
no issues at all...everything was great.

To be fair, I'd like to see a stadium filled with 80 people where you can stroll out in 5.

Dallas for one is relatively easy least where I was seated. And don't remember it being as bad as the old stadium.
especially when the game goes until final 2 min
upstatenyg : 9/28/2016 11:26 am : link
amazing how people complain here.

Met Life isn't my favorite by a long shot - and I generally agree it could have been better, etc.

That said - it is a freakin football stadium, people complaining about music, beer, etc is a personal thing.

I was there Sunday, and the previous one, and 8 x last year and I have absolutely no problem with the place, getting beer when I want, taking a piss when I want, or telling some drunk dude to sit down.

OK...he told me 7th level
I Love Clams Casino : 9/28/2016 11:28 am : link
I asked him to clarify, he said "7th, 7th, you know the 7th door"

I said "Sam! Tell me the section you were sitting in!"

He said 319.......geeez!

Totally depends where u park. I part in lot g I'm out of the stadium in 3 minutes and that is no exaggeration
also, he said he was prevented from buying beer
I Love Clams Casino : 9/28/2016 11:35 am : link
at halfway through the 1st quarter, because they were "people in the way trying to get to their seats".....dunno

He also said he was forced into a security bag/backpack check line but had no backpack or bag.
He means the 7th floor
Jimmy Brown : 9/28/2016 11:37 am : link
He must have taken the elevator. The 7th floor is the 300 level. Does he have a disability? That is what the elevator is supposed to be for.

Very true I was eluding to just getting out of the stadium not getting to my car. But it certainly does depend where you sit. 3 minutes you say impressive! Took me literally 30 minutes to get to my car.
No wonder we lost!

Your friend has a black cloud hanging over him. A breeze must have blown it down over the Giant's bench.
do you need oxygen masks up there?

Yah, he's a Jets fan, but just an overall NFL fan, he'll go to any game he can get to
That's why he got to ride the elevator...

I always whine about this, its a nightmare getting out of the upper deck. Just not enough stairs and unlike the old stadium, all levels ultimately feed into the same path of egress. God forbid there was ever a need to evacuate. Cheap bastids.
I was in Section 312
YAJ2112 : 9/28/2016 12:49 pm : link
and I saw some guy's girlfriend get beer spilled on him. I bet that guy was responsible for the beer shut off, he was a real tough guy.
Obviously none of us can speak to your friend's specific

experience. But I have been to every game since the stadium opened. I have never seen people turned away from beer lines before the cutoff. (If there was some problem at one specific stand, it's hard to imagine there wasn't another one not very far away that would have been open). I have never seen people prevented from going to their seats. (In fact, compared to many arenas now where they hold people back from entering sections until play is stopped, I've never seen that at MetLife). I've never been forced into a bag check line when I didn't have a bag. Though they're certainly not super well organized on those lines, and it's very frustrating that they're too cheap to have more gates to speed things up.

always have one in the lot after the game...getting out isn't an issue. The experience at Met life is very good.
I live in Tampa
allstarjim : 9/28/2016 3:51 pm : link
and have seen the Giants play at Met Life and at Raymond James Stadium. To all the critics of Met Life, I would say, come to a game in Tampa... try to go buy a drink at the start of half time and get back to your seat by mid-way through the third quarter.

It's not easy, particularly if you go to the end of the stadium with the pirate ship. I really appreciated that Met Life allows people with plenty of freedom of movement.
Seats look grey to me

Was curious for those who went to the Skins game
Rover : 9/28/2016 7:34 pm : link
Where there a lot of Skins fans there? How many, what %, and was this the normal amount? How did it compare to the Pats or Iggles or Ravens?

Didn't look or sound like there was much, more than the Saints but 5% max.
There were some skins fans
upstatenyg : 9/28/2016 7:41 pm : link
close to the usual amount, maybe 10 pct.

There are way more Cowboys and Eagles fans at games.

Of course, Philly is close and Cowboys fans are everywhere, god knows why.

It is fairly easy and cheap to go to a skins game in DC, so many choose not to, especially since they have been so bad of late.

They don't want to speed things up; they want to train you to go in earlier and spend more money in the venue.
